Chapter 18: A Way Out
Shaking the branch in his hand and looking around, Tyr awkwardly realized.
“Where am I? I escaped in such a hurry earlier that I’ve completely forgotten how to get back.”
Although Tyr now had some skills, he lacked combat experience, and he didn’t know how powerful those so-called monsters were. Tyr was very aware that even a hundred of himself couldn’t defeat that giant beast.
So instead of recklessly venturing forth to confront dangers unprepared, Tyr decided it would be better to find a way to leave this troubled place first.
In reality, what Tyr wanted most was to go to the Cyril Kingdom where Yuehai was located. However, he wasn’t foolish. It was evident from this morning’s meeting with the Duke himself that they couldn’t ignore Yuehai, who had been suddenly rescued. Although the Duke later assured that Yuehai’s identity was temporarily safe, it didn’t mean they had no suspicions. Presumably, they were vigorously investigating Yuehai’s background in secret. If Tyr were to enter the kingdom openly, he might be immediately discovered. This was also a warning sign that the appearance of the Shadowstone had triggered. After all, if such a miraculous object existed, it was not impossible for them to have tools that could instantly detect his presence.
So, despite being very concerned about Yuehai’s situation, Tyr couldn’t risk going to the Cyril Kingdom. He might be captured and subjected to severe torture, which was definitely not something Tyr wanted to experience.
“According to what the Shadowstone said, the direction where the sun rises is the east.”
Tyr murmured to himself as he looked at the rising sun.
“As long as Yuehai finds a map, we should be able to follow the direction and get out.”
With that decision made, Tyr immediately focused most of his attention on Yuehai.
“Um, Leia sister, I’d like to have a map of the entire empire, and if possible, it would be even better if it could include markings for the various regions and countries.” Yuehai clapped her hands together, making her request to Leia, who was walking beside her.
“The request from this beautiful lady carries extraordinary power, and no one would have the thought of refusing it. Leia naturally is also one of them, but she still asked with some doubts.”
“It’s okay, but what do you need the map for?”
“Leia sister, you see, I’ve lost my memory, right? Looking at a map can help me broaden my horizons, and maybe I’ll recognize some familiar places, which might help me remember something.”
Yuehai had naturally prepared this excuse long ago, and now that she spoke it out, it was seamless. Leia naturally fell for it, without any reason to doubt this little angel.
“Yeah, let’s go to the library then. They have maps of the entire continent, which should be quite detailed.”
“Okay, thank you so much, Leia sister.”
Noah’s World, the Gabriel Continent—this was the area depicted on the map Yuehai was looking at.
Separated by a vast forest are three superpowers on the continent.
The Sigril Empire, the Elven Empire (the Sanguis Empire), and finally, the Vermilion Empire, bordering the Sigril Empire.
The Sigril Empire consists of twenty-seven kingdoms, two hundred and thirty-nine duchies, and numerous other smaller states.
“Cyril, Cyril… There it is!” Yuehai pointed at the Cyril Kingdom, then glanced back and pointed at a certain location in the Sang Zang Forest.
“I should be here. So the nearest kingdom to me is… the Kingdom of Milik. Hmm, it’s seven times larger than Cyril, huh? I’ve heard that while the Cyril Kingdom is one of the largest among duchies, it appears somewhat insignificant compared to the kingdoms.”
Nowadays, the best route, besides returning to Cyril, is to go to the neighboring Kingdom of Milik. After Yuehai made up her mind silently, on the other side, Tyr began to act.
“Is Miss Yuehai here?” Suddenly, a woman in a white robe appeared at the entrance of the library, her quiet voice echoing through the serene building. Yuehai raised an eyebrow and stood up, saying,
“I’m here. Who might you be?”
Yuehai’s response elicited an expected surprise from the woman in the white robe, a reaction Yuehai had grown tired of witnessing.
“Um, excuse me, who are you? Do you need something from me?” Yuehai repeated, and the woman in the white robe finally realized, remembering her earlier lapse in composure. A slight blush appeared on the pale face of the woman.
“I apologize. Um, I am Mirose, a white-robed elemental mage from the Duke’s Elemental Hall. I have come under Lord Laogeri’s orders to help you detect elemental affinity.”
“Detecting elemental affinity? Does Lord Laogeri want me to become a mage?”
“I’m not sure about that. Lord Laogeri only mentioned that your affinity with light elements is outstanding compared to other elemental attributes, so you might have the potential to become a mage.”
“I see. Well, I’m grateful for Lord Laogeri’s recognition. What should I do now?”
“Please come with me to the Elemental Hall. There, I will test Yuehai’s affinity with all elemental attributes.”
“Okay, please wait a moment. I’ll go and call Leia sister. By the way, it shouldn’t be a problem for her to come with us to the Elemental Hall, right?”
“Of course not.”
