Chapter 38: In-Depth
“Wow, this is incredible! This is a realm only a master swordsman can enter!”
Shating Iron Sword stood up, excited like a child, while Butterfly of Sunflowers beside him blushed with excitement. As swordsmen, who wouldn’t hope to have a skilled elder to teach them swordsmanship?
However, Tyr felt a bit embarrassed and scratched his head, feeling unworthy of their praise. If asked to teach them details, Tyr would be speechless. However, this man with his sacred-level martial skills could demonstrate remarkable prowess in the overall direction.
“Ahem, well, you see, the sword just now was called ‘Heaven’s Descent’. All your sword techniques can approach this strike. The closer you get to ‘Heaven’s Descent’, the more exquisite your swordsmanship will become. I believe if you can flawlessly execute this sword, becoming a master swordsman shouldn’t be far off.”
“Yes! I will not disappoint the expectations of my predecessors!!” Shating Iron Sword was even more excited. If it weren’t for Tyr, Dragon Slayer, and the others watching him, he might have laughed out loud, unable to contain his excitement! After all, this was such a breathtaking sword technique.
Shating Iron Sword had no doubt that if he succeeded in mastering this sword, he would become a top-notch master swordsman!
“Well, of course, just seeing it once might not make it clear enough. We’ll go over it a few times later. If there’s anything you don’t understand, I’ll do my best to answer you.”
“Yes!”
Once he snapped back to reality, Tyr realized he might have revealed too much. Why would he teach such valuable martial skills to these unfamiliar people? He felt it was somewhat disrespectful to Kaming. However, for some unknown reason, Tyr found himself associating these people with something from his past.
What was that something from the past? What exactly was it? Tyr didn’t feel a headache from trying to recall lost memories, just a blank space, a sensation akin to fundamental recognition.
Tyr glanced at the four mercenaries who looked at him with admiration and at Dragon Slayer who sat contemplating beside him. Suddenly, the term “companion” came to his mind.
“It’s like this,” Tyr smiled bitterly and shook his head, putting aside that thought, and looked at the somewhat nervous Butterfly of Sunflowers.
“You should be using the Cross Sword, right? It’s a swift weapon mainly for thrusting attacks.”
“Yes, that’s right.”
“Hmm…” Tyr’s other set of sacred-level martial arts, the Heaven Sword One Heart, is indeed somewhat similar to the Butterfly of Sunflowers swordsmanship. He didn’t know if it was a coincidence, but his own body technique also closely matched the Wind Slash Ghost’s learning.
As for the Emerald Star, although he was sorry, he really couldn’t teach anything in magic.
“Let’s do it this way, just like the Shating Iron Sword before. I’m not one for verbose nonsense. As long as you understand this move, that’s enough.”
“Yes!” The Butterfly of Sunflowers focused, eyes wide open, as if not wanting to miss any of the opponent’s movements.
Tyr couldn’t help but smile at this adorable sight. Still holding the twig in his hand, he muttered to himself, “Heaven Sword One Heart emphasizes speed, but she probably can’t see it if it’s too fast. Let’s slow it down a bit.”
Of course, what Tyr was about to perform was similar to the Descent of the Divine, but it was just one of the hundreds of moves. Each move was supposed to be performed with both hands coordinating in the Unity of Heaven and Earth to unleash its full power. However, Tyr was splitting it into single-handed movements. Regardless, the power and subtlety would decrease significantly. Yet, even so, it was enough to greatly benefit these mercenaries!
“Watch closely!”
The midday sun became even more vicious, yet at this moment, Tyr and the others had already penetrated deep into the heart of the ogres’ territory!
“Elder! Eleven ogre infantry are charging from the left flank! There’s an ogre hunter in the rear! It’s a level three monster!”
“I’ll take care of the infantry, the hunter is mine!” Tyr had slain level three monsters in the Sang Zang Forest before, so he was confident in dealing with this slow-moving ogre hunter. However, at that moment, Dragon Slayer waved his hand, indicating that Tyr didn’t need to intervene. Then, with a swift movement, Dragon Slayer dashed towards the ogre hunter like a bird.
The ogre hunter was twice as large as the infantry, and Dragon Slayer, as small as a bird, faced the ogre hunter’s giant hammer as if it were a moth to a flame. What was astonishing, however, was that, with a shout that didn’t sound like that of a girl, Dragon Slayer’s slender fist pierced through the ogre hunter’s huge hammer, and with undiminished momentum, shattered the ogre hunter’s skull with a thunderous blow!
Boom! It was a sound akin to an explosion, with a massive splatter of flesh and brain matter. Dragon Slayer pushed off the ground lightly, effortlessly evading the countless blood and bones. By the time he regained his senses, he was already back by Tyr’s side.
“Let’s go!”
The sheer dominance of the scene made Tyr unquestioningly follow Dragon Slayer’s lead. He couldn’t help but sneak a glance at the other’s pristine little pink fist, wondering where she got the strength to smash the skull of a level three monster with just one punch!
At the same time, while harboring such doubts, he firmly affixed the label of “absolutely not to be provoked” onto Dragon Slayer. If she got angry, Tyr knew he wouldn’t be able to handle that little fist either.
