Chapter 46: Let’s talk later

If there’s an opportunity to survey the Fengsha Basin from the air, one can grasp the true extent of its barrenness. Despite the presence of woodlands, they are widely spaced, and at first glance, they appear to be predominantly sandstone.

The Fengsha Basin’s terrain slopes from north to south, forming stepped hills due to the prolonged erosion and cutting action of flowing water on numerous rock layers. Although this region received considerable rainfall, unfortunately, it mostly occurred on the periphery.

In the central areas, rainfall was scarce, and there were very few reservoirs in the Fengsha Basin. Rivers flew from the edges of the Fengsha Basin, quite a distance away from the town of Fengniao.

While it was not impossible for cultivation, the conditions were quite challenging. It’s like a hellish place, coupled with threats like bandits, wild beasts, and more.

Ron had the privilege of seeing the entire Fengsha Basin from high above, finally understanding why even the Norman Empire was reluctant to pacify this place.

Why is he in the air? Because he was picked up by Lilian, who had transformed into a dragon.

Of course, Lilian did this entirely at Ron’s request, mainly to facilitate finding Moluna. Unfortunately, the wind was too strong. At this moment, Ron could hardly keep his eyes open and couldn’t see anything clearly. Moreover, this was under Lilian’s low-altitude flight. If it were high altitude, the wind would be even stronger.

“Lilian, have you seen Moluna?” Ron, held in Lilian’s claws, couldn’t help but ask.

Even though it wasn’t the first time flying with Ron, Lilian still wouldn’t let him ride on her back. Holding Ron with her claws was already a significant concession in Lilian’s view. Now, she wasn’t as opposed to Ron, the human. She wasn’t quite sure why.

Perhaps she felt that Ron wasn’t as despicable as other humans?

Of course, Ron was far from noble, and he didn’t meet Lilian’s standards.

“I think I’ve already seen it,” Lilian said.

In the distance, a smaller forest emerged with numerous dark roots shooting up, accompanied by a thunderous sound. More importantly, Moluna felt the magical manipulation of liquids in the forest.

The air around her was much drier than usual, indicating that it had all been drawn into the forest. Even though Moluna couldn’t be seen at the moment, Lilian was certain she was in the forest. Apart from the white dragon, only Moluna could effortlessly control liquids. However, Lilian didn’t understand why Moluna had come to this place. It seemed that Moluna conflicted with the roots of the Mother Holy Tree.

“Mr. Ron, we should land,” Lilian reminded Ron, then descended towards the ground without waiting for his response.

The rapid flight generated sharp sonic booms in the surroundings. Even though Lilian used dragon breath to protect Ron, he could still feel the powerful air currents rushing towards him.

Boom!!!” At the moment of landing, a large amount of dust rose beneath the dragon’s wings, and the surrounding trees were pressed down by the air, unable to stand upright.

Pebbles scattered in all directions, piercing through fragile branches like bullets.

After placing Ron on the ground, Lilian transformed into her human form in the blink of an eye, even adjusting her silver hair.

All of this made the previously destructive landing seem like an illusion. But Ron’s worn-out face was evidence that the recent landing was real.

“Follow this way, Mr. Ron,” Lilian calmly led Ron, showing him the path.

“Is Moluna here?” Ron caught up, blurting out the question.

“It seems so,” Lilian said as a loud noise echoed from ahead.

After traversing the forest, they saw Moluna’s disheveled figure, a far cry from her morning appearance.

Judging by her current state, Ron might think Moluna had rolled in the mud. Seeing the Mother Holy Tree roots swinging like tentacles, Ron understood Moluna’s plight.

“This place is indeed hospitable,” Ron said, pulling the Ashes of the Furnace from the void.

Without asking what happened to Moluna, Ron swung the Ashes of the Furnace at the thick tree roots.

Unfortunately, the sword couldn’t completely cut the roots, but it left seared marks. The wounds caused by the Ashes of the Furnace were irreparable, ensuring the roots wouldn’t grow back. Facing the indestructible tree roots, Ron swung the sword again to cut them down.

“Lord Ron!” Moluna noticed him, turning to look.

“Let’s deal with these things first before discussing anything else,” Ron said as the roots shifted attention to him.

Ron moved to the side, preferring to get pushed back than hit directly.

“These tree roots are indestructible,” Moluna explained, having not seen Ron cut through them.

The tree roots attacked by continuously smashing everything in their path. Holding the Ashes of the Furnace, Ron specialized in dealing with these entities. Despite his strengthened body, Ron avoided confronting them directly, sensing their overwhelming power.

“No problem, I’m specialized for this,” Ron confidently declared, cutting off the other side of the tree roots.

Lilian, quietly watching, couldn’t hide her astonishment.

The Mother Holy Tree’s roots were resolved by Ron. Lilian realized it would have been challenging for her to do the same.

Moluna tangled with the roots due to her witch abilities harming Outer Gods, but Ron’s success made Lilian wonder if it was the sword or a system-granted ability.

“Surprised?” Lilian murmured, feeling waves of uncertainty in her heart.
