Chapter 47: Okay, she’s a mature and charming woman.
The roots of the Mother Holy Tree pose a bit of a challenge.
But for Ron, it’s just a minor inconvenience.
After all, the effect of the Furnace Ash is like their natural foe.
“Clang!!!”
Ron firmly inserted the Furnace Ash into the ground, then brushed off the dust from his hands. Around him were lifeless roots, their cut ends releasing ashes as if burning.
The ground had finally ceased sprouting Mother Holy Tree’s roots, and Ron no longer needed to swing his greatsword.
Standing nearby, Lilian could tell that things wouldn’t have been so simple without the Furnace Ash. However, Ron’s fighting style seemed like he knew the Mother Holy Tree’s movements, leaving Lilian puzzled.
At that moment, Moluna flew over.
“Ron, my lord, there’s a witch.” Without a break, she grabbed Ron’s sleeve, trying to lead him in a certain direction.
“Witch? Where’s the witch coming from?” Ron couldn’t see the figure of the adorable girl.
“Here.” Moluna pointed to the black mud wrapped in vegetation and said, “Ron, my lord, save her.”
Lilian had noticed Ron’s combat approach seemed familiar, much like when he rescued Moluna.
“Black slime?” Ron surveyed the black mud.
It was almost identical to when Moluna transformed into a girl, like black slime.
However, Ron wasn’t as capable as Moluna thought and could restore Moluna purely because the system helped.
“She, like me, experienced a magical outburst,” Moluna explained, “and now she’s been engulfed by the black mud. Please, I beg you to save her.”
In an uncontrollable state, the witch was suffering, and Moluna knew the pain firsthand.
Ron remembered this. When a witch experienced a magical outburst, they end up like this. To be honest, Ron had never understood the principle behind it.
Does a magical outburst always result in turning into black slime? This doesn’t make logical sense.
Generally, during an outburst, one would expect to transform into something more ferocious, perhaps with sharp fangs. That would make more sense. This black slime looked harmless, and there was no way to associate it with the term “outburst.”
“Hello, time traveler, detecting the source of a magical outburst nearby.”
“We suggest you extract the overflowing magical energy from the source. It will also contribute to the system’s upgrade.”
“These magical energies can significantly assist you in the future.”
Ron heard more voices from the system again, so he placed his hand on the hilt of the Furnace Ash. However, he still hadn’t figured out what changes occur when the system extracted magical energy.
“Magical energy can unlock more projects and rewards for you.”
“Projects?” Ron suddenly had a very bad feeling.
“Enhancement projects.”
Ron suddenly didn’t want to extract the magical energy from the black slime. Every bit of magical energy extracted now would become assistance for the system to torment him in the future. But seeing Moluna’s hopeful gaze, he sighed and raised the Furnace Ash.
The system had already informed him that inserting a weapon into the black mud could extract magical energy. However, using such a massive sword seemed inappropriate. He feared it might harm the witch. After briefly hesitating, Ron aimed the Furnace Ash at the cocoon-like structure.
Lilian observed Ron’s actions from behind, curious how he would restore the witch after her magical outburst.
Moluna anxiously watched Ron’s sword, uncertain about what would happen next.
Just as Ron was about to insert the Furnace Ash, the system unexpectedly added a sentence.
“The time traveler, please switch to a different weapon.”
“Why?” Ron asked, puzzled by the sudden request.
The Wind Veil Basin had become his accustomed weapon since its arrival.
“Because the Furnace Ash might kill the source of the magical outburst.”
“If you don’t mind the death of the source, then you can use the Furnace Ash.”
Ron looked at the sword in his hand, realizing its potential danger. But without another weapon at hand, he considered his options. Suddenly, Ron had an idea and eyed a tree branch on the ground.
The system didn’t criticize Ron’s idea, seemingly accepting it as valid.
“Lady Lilian, help me hold this,” Ron asked Lilian as he handed her the Furnace Ash.
As Lilian took the sword, she subtly raised an eyebrow, sensing its mysterious aura. Ron used a tree branch as a substitute weapon and poked it into the black mud.
“The system is extracting magical energy. Please wait,” announced the system.
To Lilian, there was no visible increase in magical energy on Ron’s body.
The black mud gradually formed into a woman’s body as the magical energy was extracted. The plants that had confined the black mud withered and yellowed, scattering on the ground.
Moluna’s eyes lit up, realizing Ron could indeed save the witch.
In Ron’s mind, seeing the restored witch, there was only one thought.
Nice, it’s a mature woman ᕕ(◠ڼ◠)ᕗ.
