Chapter 63: The Last One?

The next morning, Lilian approached Ron with breakfast in hand.

“Lord Ron, this is your breakfast,” she said with a dignified posture after presenting the meal.

“Hmm?” Ron felt Lilian’s words were a bit different from usual. “Lord Ron?”

Normally, Lilian addressed him as Mr. Ron, while only Moluna and Eveum would call him Lord Ron.

“Lord Ron, do you have any orders?” Lilian straightened her posture, presenting herself properly.

Ron was puzzled, “Why did you change how you address me?”

“Because, for the time being, you deserve to be addressed this way,” Lilian remarked, emphasizing that her judgments about people are not constant.

Once Lilian was certain that Ron dared to truly accept witches, she changed her way of addressing him. Such instances were unprecedented in the records of time travelers from the past.

If you’re asking whether there are time travelers who are friendly towards witches, the answer is yes.

Some time travelers even attempt to develop romantic relationships with witches. However, Ron’s actions were entirely different—he aimed to make a place genuinely accept witches.

Even Lilian couldn’t fully evaluate the level of danger in this matter. However, it was certainly higher than romantic involvement with a witch.

Once humans learned about Ron’s actions, some would undoubtedly be displeased. Even if it led to war, it wouldn’t be surprising.

Given the circumstances, Lilian felt that addressing Ron as “Lord” wasn’t excessive, especially since she didn’t know how long Ron would live.

Unaware of Lilian’s thoughts, Ron was pleased to hear the sarcastic dragonmaid show him such respect. He thought the breakfast tasted even better.

“So, does Windbird Town have so much meat to eat lately? Can we afford meat for breakfast?” Ron asked curiously while enjoying his meal.

“There isn’t much meat to eat in Windbird Town,” Lilian shook her head. Even though Windbird Town engaged in hunting, there wasn’t an abundance of meat. Meat would become more common only after Windbird Town started animal farming.

Ron hesitated, then looked up at the cheerful Lilian and said, “It’s good.”

Ron seemed to realize something as he looked down at the distinctly colored meat on his fork. “Is this…?”

“This is my tail, Lord Ron,” Lilian smiled. “Does the taste suit your palate?” Dragon tail was tender, juicy, and had a delicious flavor.

Ron felt that he couldn’t let Lilian down at the moment. “It’s good.”

“By the way, Lord Ron, there’s something I need to inform you about,” Lilian said from the side.

“What’s the matter?” Still immersed in his gloomy thoughts, Ron paid little attention to Lilian’s words.

“After the increase in Windbird Town’s population, the things we previously established aren’t working as well,” she calmly said, causing Ron to freeze in place.

“Not working?” Ron looked at Lilian in disbelief.

“After all, Windbird Town used to be primarily inhabited by the Phylin tribe. With the arrival of many humans, the considerations have completely changed,” Lilian explained.

“For now, Phylin and humans can get along relatively well,” Lilian said pensively, “But with more refugees pouring in, problems are likely to arise.”

“We need someone who can truly handle these matters,” she advised solemnly.

Ron put down the fork in his hand and slumped in his chair—he suddenly felt like using chopsticks. As for why he had this sudden thought, it was probably homesickness.

“So, when will the government official Lady Mercury mentioned be sent over?” He sighed.

Even if that person might be a spy sent by Lady Mercury, it didn’t matter. He needed someone to handle these matters.

“I don’t know either,” Lilian said regretfully. She had no idea who Lady Mercury intended to send, and she could only hope that it would be a normal person.

Firstly, the Wind Veil Basin was barren, and secondly, Windbird Town had witches. Normal people would be reluctant to come to Windbird Town to help Ron, an unknown lord.

A series of hurried footsteps echoed in Lady Mercury’s mansion.

In Lady Mercury’s mansion, the sound of urgent footsteps echoed. A young boy with his eyes almost hidden by his bangs emerged from Lady Mercury’s study, the source of the hurried footsteps. He wore a simple dark-colored coat, with the left sleeve folded up, but the right one forgotten.

As he jogged, he coughed a few times, appearing somewhat weakened. The young boy forcefully pushed open the door to the study and stared directly at Lady Mercury.

“As per the scheduled time, it’s now my turn to meet with you, Lady Mercury,” the boy said solemnly.

“You must not be disrespectful to Lady Mercury!” A soldier who caught up from behind shouted at the young boy.

The boy had been running exceptionally fast, and the soldier had to chase him. To their surprise, they witnessed the young boy being so disrespectful to Lady Mercury as soon as they arrived.

She was a duchess, and this young official from who-knows-where dared to behave with such an attitude?

“It’s okay. You can step back,” Lady Mercury closed the book and said, “Indeed, it is the time for me to meet with him.”

Upon hearing Lady Mercury’s words, the soldier hastily responded, “Yes, Lady Mercury…”

Before leaving, he glanced at the young boy with confusion.

Who exactly is this young boy? Lady Mercury doesn’t mind his disrespect? Is he a relative of Lady Mercury?

Even relatives wouldn’t dare to be so impolite. The boy didn’t care about the soldier from earlier. Instead, he said, “You mentioned earlier that you found Lord Ron… is it true?”

“Of course, it’s true,” Lady Mercury said with a smile, “The hero’s son is alive, and he’s doing quite well.”

“The White Lion Clan is still around?” The boy stood in place, murmuring, “Are they really still alive?”

“No, not them,” Lady Mercury said, “It’s just him.”
