Chapter 70: Whisper of the God of Love (Part Ten)
This was one of the monster’s largest limbs, just a step away from the creature’s body.
In other words, instead of distancing himself from Eluka, he found himself even closer to her.
“But… why?”
For safety’s sake, shouldn’t the man have tried to throw himself as far away as possible?
Before Muen could ponder further, the light suddenly dimmed in his sight.
The man once again stood before Muen, his gaze calm as he stared at him. The terrifying pressure descended upon Muen like a mountain crushing down.
Muen’s breath caught, and without hesitation, he flipped over and leaped up, activating his qi.
He had to create distance.
Shadow Step!
Boom!
Just as Muen initiated the stance for Shadow Step, the man suddenly lunged forward with a swift kick.
In an instant, the entire limb of the monster began to tremble violently, as if experiencing an earthquake of magnitude eight.
After all, Shadow Step was a special footwork that couldn’t lift him from the ground, so Muen’s balance wavered momentarily. His attempt at Shadow Step was once again interrupted.
Moreover, this time, the man didn’t even use any martial techniques.
Muen felt like a naive child in front of the man, where any seemingly powerful moves appeared nothing more than a child swinging branches wildly in the man’s eyes.
Full of loopholes, rudimentary to the extreme.
Even attempting to fight seriously felt like an insult to the man.
“Damn it!”
It was unknown how many times Muen had cursed today, but being toyed with so casually by the man ignited his determination. Ignoring everything else, he swung his dual blades once more, slashing towards the man.
But if the man still had any semblance of human emotions at this moment, he would surely sigh.
Sigh for Muen’s current choice.
Because, being swayed by emotions during a battle—
It’s a grave mistake!
Once again, the man reached out his hand, meeting the two streaks of blade light. The blade light flowed like ribbons, resembling two crescent moons, seemingly impenetrable even to water.
However, the man’s hand, in a strange manner, slipped through the gap between the two streaks of blade light and lightly tapped Muen’s chest.
Terrifying internal force erupted from his palm, sending Muen flying once again.
“Cough, cough…”
Muen’s stomach churned, and he spat out bile.
Before he could resume cursing, the man took a step forward and stood before Muen once more.
Another palm strike.
Muen was forced to fly out once again.
The man suddenly seemed addicted to this move, relentlessly chasing after Muen, who didn’t even have a chance to stand up.
Palm strike.
Fly.
Spit bile.
Palm strike.
Fly.
Spit bile.
This cycle continued.
“Young Master!”
Seeing their young master being toyed with by the man like a punching bag, An became even more anxious and unleashed a relentless attack with the manipulated metal.
“Haha, Master, why are you so excited? Is Mr. Muen the one you fancy? No way, Master, you can only accept my love!”
Eluka chuckled joyfully, her happiness unshakeable even as countless limbs were crushed to pieces by metal.
“I originally intended for Mr. Muen to also accept my love, but now it seems that letting him be killed directly by Ade would be even better, wouldn’t it?”
“Come on, Master, why don’t you surrender? If you surrender, I might consider sparing you.”
“You’re dreaming!”
An retorted through gritted teeth, taking a deep breath to force herself to calm down.
The perfect maid’s discipline always enabled her to better control her emotions. And in such a crisis, a calm mind was always quicker to notice something amiss.
So, with her mind racing, thinking of how to help the young master escape, An quickly discovered a clue.
– Why is it that the young master has been beaten by the man for so long, and aside from vomiting up last night’s dinner, it seems like nothing happened at all?
…
“Cough, cough, I see now.”
Muen leaned against the monster’s massive body, emptying his stomach of the last remnants, looking at the man in front of him with a helpless expression, and said with a wry smile:
“Even if you want to deceive Eluka, can’t you do it in a different way? This feeling, where even my stomach wants to revolt, is really unbearable.”
The man remained silent.
He just silently watched Muen.
In his lifeless eyes, nothing could be seen.
Like a puppet.
But…
Who says puppets don’t have hearts?
“Save her.”
For the first time in Muen’s presence, the man spoke. His voice was hoarse, as if returning from hell.
“Alright.”
Muen nodded earnestly, showing no surprise.
“I will set her free.”
Without caring about the difference between “setting free” and “saving,” or perhaps because the man had long known that for Eluka at this moment, “setting free” equaled “saving.”
The man reached out his hand again, grabbing Muen’s shoulder. This time, Muen didn’t resist. He allowed that vice-like hand to pinch him painfully, then was lifted up as if he were a little chick and thrown out.
At this moment, Muen wasn’t too far from Eluka. But the man still exerted all his strength.
So, Muen flew swiftly!
“Ah?”
Eluka finally realized what happened.
And in an instant, her joy vanished.
She had been betrayed.
Betrayed by the one she loved the most!
“Why? Why!”
Eluka screamed in anguish:
“Ade, are you betraying me?
Why?
You’ve already surrendered to my embrace, shared in my love, why isn’t the power of the God of Love affecting you?”
“Why?!”
In the extreme anger of betrayal, the entire body of the monster trembled violently.
Hundreds of faces simultaneously wailed in agony, countless “love” characters sounded like the cries of ghosts in the dead of night, almost piercing through eardrums.
The deformed flesh writhed in an unprecedented frenzy, countless grotesque limbs violently bursting through the skin without waiting for it to split, splattering blood everywhere.
Then, these limbs, drenched in foul-smelling blood, completely disregarding An’s full-on assault, surged towards the betrayer and Muen on the other side.
The man didn’t resist. He allowed himself to be grabbed, entwined, wrapped up, and gradually consumed by the malformed limbs.
He was about to merge with Eluka once again, this time without any special treatment, but becoming one of those hundreds of faces.
His eyes remained lifeless, but deep within, something seemed to flicker.
Why betray you?
Is there even a need to ask?
Because I love you, Eluka.
I’m sorry for deceiving you. I’m sorry I couldn’t stop you. But in the end, at least let this useless man be of some use.
As he was about to be completely consumed, the man lifted his remaining hand. His five fingers curled like the claws of a beast.
In an instant, it was as if thunder roared!
An invisible shockwave emanated from his palm, rapidly spreading outwards. But the target was not himself; it was those malformed limbs that followed after Muen.
…
This is…
My final act of love.
…
Eluka’s screams abruptly ceased.
Because a figure, overcoming numerous obstacles, finally stood before her.
“Well, Eluka.”
Muen stood atop the writhing flesh, looking down at her still lovely face.
As if greeting an old friend, he softly said:
“Good afternoon, have you eaten yet?”
“Last time you treated me to roast lamb, it was delicious.”
