Chapter 160: The Garden of Azure
Laogeri released Daven’s body, and with his strength gone, he slowly fell down.
No one bothered to check on the man’s life or death anymore, instead, they all looked up towards the source of the green light.
A green-haired girl stood void-like, holding the Book of Prophecies in her hand. Her appearance resembled that of a goddess descending from the heavens, and the staff in her hand emitted strange waves, causing the entire world to seem to pause at that moment.
“…” Laogeri’s expression darkened as he recognized the woman’s face. Even though it had been nearly a century, he remembered it vividly to this day.
It wasn’t just him; the older generation all remembered her. Many of those who recognized her turned pale.
Those who were aware of the turmoil in the Imperial City years ago couldn’t help but feel fear.
Tyr furrowed his brow. He felt like he had seen this girl somewhere before…
Before everyone could react, the green-haired girl made a slight bow and spoke elegantly.
“I am the seventh disciple of the Garden of Azure, Lajess T. Jallinia. I have no intention of disturbing your mansion tonight; I am simply here to retrieve the Book of Prophecies.”
Her voice seemed light, but it resonated clearly in the ears of everyone present.
Her casual mention of taking the Book of Prophecies seemed so matter-of-fact that not only did she herself seem to expect it, but even those who heard it felt as though it was only natural for the girl to take it.
Even Laogeri and the others momentarily showed confusion, but they quickly reacted, their minds covered by divine power, their hearts filled with astonishment. The girl’s voice seemed to possess a regal authority; with a single command, even those with weaker wills might immediately obey, even unto self-destruction.
Understanding the terrifying power behind this voice, all the strong individuals present grew solemn.
In the next moment, flames soared into the sky, a giant red dragon seemingly piercing the heavens, yet emitting no heat whatsoever. Even the buildings touched by this pillar of flame remained unscathed.
Following this, there came a thunderous roar that shattered the sky.
“The Seventh Disciple!”
The voice echoed, circling through the air dozens of times before gradually dissipating. As everyone looked on in bewildered astonishment.
A giant man wearing a cloak of flames gradually revealed his figure.
“Lord Kareyang, it has been a while,” Lajess T. Jallinia said with a slight bow, but her demeanor irked Kareyang greatly. Already hot-tempered, the failure of the attack on the Milik Kingdom and the fact that the Book of Prophecies was now in the hands of a third party finally ignited his fury beyond restraint, prompting him to appear impulsively before Lajess.
“So, you still remember my name.”
“Lord Kareyang, you once held the position of Flame Commander of the Elemental Ring in the Imperial City. We should have crossed paths during my visit to the Imperial City years ago,” Lajess T. Jallinia said, still maintaining her calm demeanor. Her voice remained powerful and carried an irresistible charm, evoking an impulse in others to die for her cause.
Kareyang’s expression changed as if he realized something unpleasant, then he shouted.
“Since you know me, let me warn you for the last time. The conflicts between nations are not something you can meddle in!”
“Lord Kareyang, saying it like that indirectly exposes your own secrets,” a young man’s voice emerged from the ground. Before anyone could fully process the sound, the sickly youth had appeared next to Kareyang.
The audience below gasped in shock.
Because of the terrifying divine power emanating from the sky, the kind of power that made one want to worship, everyone knew that only gods could possess such power! The power of faith was the symbol of the divine!
Beyond the theorem of death, possessing endless divine power, creating divine worlds, igniting the supreme divine fire, celebrated by all, establishing temples of faith for mortals to become its followers, a god’s presence represented an entire world behind them!
Many gods even conquer other small worlds, brainwashing the original inhabitants of those worlds to become the sole source of faith for them.
“So these are gods!” Tyr looked at the two figures in the sky, as if they did not belong to this world. Suddenly, he felt his own insignificance and fragility. Before them, even being an emperor meant little, let alone a demigod. It was as if there was an insurmountable gap in essence between a particle and the sun, a difference that was inherently despair-inducing.
