Chapter 4: Familiarity
“Miss Yuehai.” Damiyala didn’t know when she had sat down next to Yuehai, with Zhang Ling, who followed her like a shadow, behind her. Although they didn’t get a recommendation letter, they had the opportunity to participate in the assessment in Avalon because they were in the top ten of the competition. And because of Cyril’s special care, people on the special train could receive better treatment. As for people like Jinlisi Yuehai who got the recommendation letter, they could skip the assessment and enter the academy directly.
“Miss Damiyala.” Yuehai stood up and courteously greeted her. After all, the true identity of the other party is a descendant of the 【Judicators】, whose words can determine the life and death of countless people. It can be said that they are the spokesperson of His Majesty the Supreme Emperor, the right hand of God!
“Miss Yuehai, why didn’t I see Mr. Claude?” Damiyala’s question made Yuehai raise an eyebrow slightly, then she continued, “Master Claude left earlier with His Highness Xuelian.”
“Princess Xuelian is also on the train? Does that mean she’s also going to enroll in school?”
“It seems so. The Duke of Falexis mentioned that it would be convenient for her to accompany the train to Avalon Academy.”
“Oh, I see. That would make things interesting in the future.”
“Interesting?”
“No, I was just talking to myself,” Damiyala said, retracting her peculiar smile, then continued saying.
“I remember Miss Yuehai hasn’t met anyone else yet. It might be a good idea for her to get to know everyone before we head to the academy.”
“Yes, I had that in mind,” Yuehai didn’t refuse, which made Damiyala smile even more. She then slightly turned aside, revealing Zhang Ling, who had been following her all along, and said with a gesture.
“This is my servant, Zhang Ling, originally from the Vermilion Empire.”
“Mr. Zhang Ling, hello,” Yuehai nodded slightly, surprising Zhang Ling. It was hard to believe that the girl who won the competition first place and had been shining brightly in recent months would be so polite to a servant. However, with some life experience, he quickly reacted and smiled back, saying.
“Lady Yuehai, hello. I hope we can get along well in the days ahead at the academy.”
“This is natural.”
“Hehe,” Damiyala smiled slightly and then continued.
“Zhang Ling possesses the strength of an Emperor, but due to unjust accusations, he became a fugitive of the Vermilion Phoenix Empire. I cannot disclose the detailed circumstances, but eventually, he was adopted by our Moremit family upon arriving in the Empire.”
Yuehai nodded slightly, surprised to learn that Zhang Ling was not just a simple Vermilion citizen but also a fugitive. She wondered if this would easily expose him at Avalon Academy, where Vermilion citizens and Imperial citizens mingle.
“Don’t worry, this face isn’t really mine,” Zhang Ling seemed to sense Yuehai’s concerns and smiled, touching his own face.
Yuehai nodded again, but she was curious about how face-changing worked. Rumors said that the Vermilion Empire possessed the art of disguise, a mysterious martial skill. She wondered if Zhang Ling had learned it. If so, she needed to extract the knowledge of disguise from him. Then, she could confidently walk around Kraad as Tiel with no obstacles, even calling him her brother without suspicion.
This perfect plan fueled Yuehai’s ambition even further, but now wasn’t the right time to ask Zhang Ling. After all, Damiyala was still watching. Besides, there would be plenty of time at the academy. She wasn’t worried about Zhang Ling being left alone.
“Come, let’s go meet the others,” Damiyala said, pulling Yuehai’s delicate hand as they walked slowly towards the other compartments. Zhang Ling followed behind, and Noah, who had been ignored, walked silently behind them.
“This is Angel, I’m sure you’ve crossed paths with her during the competition,” Damiyala introduced the cold-looking girl beside her, while the bare-chested man behind her was hard to ignore.
“Hello, Miss Angel.”
“Hello, Miss Yuehai.” Angel had long, pale red hair, and although her eyes matched it, the color didn’t evoke any warmth; instead, it seemed even colder. Despite her tone lacking emotion, her unexpected politeness made Yuehai feel uneasy. Typically, people like her would be very aloof.
“Angel has been my good friend since we were children. Although she seems cold, don’t misunderstand. It’s not her personality; it’s because of her unique magic.
“Unique magic?”
“Yes, Angel’s unique magic is extremely rare; it’s the ability to freeze all things. However, she paid the price of freezing her emotions for it. While Angel knows how to be polite, she can’t express it with a smile. The cold feeling all over her body is also due to this unique magic. She used to love to smile a lot.”
“I see, that’s truly regrettable,” Yuehai replied politely, though she didn’t really feel any sympathy.
Angel shook her head slightly, whether it was because she didn’t want Yuehai’s pity or because she didn’t consider it regrettable wasn’t clear. Without further explanation, the cold girl looked at the huge man behind her and spoke softly.
“Karaoke, my servant.”
“Mr. Karaoke, hello,” Yuehai nodded slightly. Karaoke, with wounds covering his face, emitted a buzzing sound from his throat, confirming Yuehai’s earlier guess that he couldn’t speak.
After exchanging greetings with Karaoke, Damiyala continued.
“Angel, let’s go meet the others together.”
Angel lowered her head in thought for a moment before nodding in agreement with Damiyala’s suggestion. This demeanor unexpectedly seemed a bit cute to Yuehai, and she found herself wanting to see Angel smile, a rare sentiment in her heart.
