Chapter 22: Escape
“Miss Yuehai, this is your dormitory card. In order to facilitate better communication among students, the college has chosen a one room, four-person system. The room is approximately 230 square meters. Your dormitory is located in the female dormitory building of the 17th school district. You can find your room by following the number on the dormitory card.”
The receptionist handed over a golden dormitory card slowly, and Yuehai took it and looked at it carefully, nodding slightly.
“So, Miss Yuehai, do you need any other daily necessities?”
Although the receptionist had to repeat the same words hundreds of times a day, she patiently explained to Yuehai, which was admirable.
Yuehai shook her head. She had already prepared a pile of general daily necessities in her storage ring before coming.
She picked up the storage ring given to her by the receptionist. Although the storage space inside was a bit smaller than her own, it was better than nothing. With two storage rings on her, she could even fit in large items she might encounter in the future.
“All right, then please take care.” The receptionist bowed slightly. Yuehai exchanged a glance with Noah, then walked towards Rachel’s vicinity, where the students who had previously finished registration were also gathered.
As time passed by, other groups, each accompanied by a large batch of talented new students like Rachel’s, also slowly entered the Heavenly Origin Hall. The hall, which had been somewhat quiet before, suddenly became lively.
After leading several batches of teams to the front desk to start registration, several administrators also leisurely made their way to the rest area where Rachel was. They all sat down on the sofa and let out a collective sigh of relief.
“After sitting on the train for more than a week, it’s more exhausting than fighting a battle,” one of the men with silver short hair said, twisting his neck in a somewhat comical manner, which was quite amusing.
“Well, it’s just something we have to do. As mentors, we have to go pick up new students every few years, and many core courses are taught by us personally,” said the middle-aged man with red hair, stroking his chin covered in stubble with a hint of interest.
“But this year’s freshmen seem quite formidable. If you still have the same indifferent attitude as before, be careful not to get ambushed by others,” he warned.
“Hahaha, if I could be confessed to by a cute new student, I wouldn’t mind getting ambushed at all,” the silver-haired man said with a joking tone, while Rachel, who was absorbed in observing the ShadowStones, paid no attention. Her seductive right leg crossed over her left, causing the young male students to blush.
Yuehai raised an eyebrow. She had heard before that Rachel, the mentor, had fled in embarrassment after being confessed to by a male student. It seemed true, or else it wouldn’t be possible to be teased by students and mentors twice in one day.
However, although these mentors teased, none of them seemed to have malicious intent. Seeing Rachel’s reluctance to explain, they switched to discussing other topics, albeit somewhat blandly.
After Damiyala, Claude, and the others familiar to Rachel had all finished registering, Rachel put away her magic shadowstone and stood up. She snapped her fingers again at her team, this time without saying a word. However, everyone cooperated and followed Rachel out of the hall.
As they stepped out of the massive building, they were immediately greeted by a bunch of seniors holding signs for various clubs. They seemed determined not to let anyone pass by without recruiting them.
Rachel shrugged and addressed everyone, saying.
“The freshmen opening ceremony will be in three days. For now, it’s free time. Just remember to gather in the hall of the eleventh district three days from now. Other than that, feel free. Now, dismissed!”
After Rachel finished speaking, she flew away alone, leaving the upperclassmen to descend upon the freshmen like wolves, clearly treating them as delectable prey, fearing they would be devoured completely in the next moment.
“Yuehai, Xuelian, you two step back, I’ll hold them off,” said Claude with a heroic demeanor that earned him respect from Yuehai and the others. In the next moment, a bunch of upperclassmen surrounded Claude, chattering away as they introduced themselves.
“Hey handsome, are you interested in joining the Modeling Club? With your physique and looks, you could definitely lead the world in new fashion trends. Becoming a big star wouldn’t be a dream!”
“Oh my, with your extraordinary bone structure and exceptional affinity for elements, could you possibly be practicing both magic and martial arts? Then you must join our Elemental Society! This is where practitioners of magic and martial arts gather. What are you waiting for?”
“Such great legs! Hey, why not join the Magic Ball Club? It’s a shame to let talent like yours go to waste. Don’t hesitate, the membership application is right here, sign up quickly!”
The voices continued one after another, even strong-willed individuals like Claude were left dizzy. Yuehai felt a chill run down his spine. After respectfully saluting Claude for his heroic spirit, Yuehai swiftly led Damiyala and the others to escape, but Xuelian persisted, plunging into the crowd in an attempt to rescue Claude. Unfortunately, it wasn’t long before she was also engulfed by the crowd.
“Huff, huff, huff. We should be safe here, right?” Several girls gasped for breath as they ran into a shady path in the garden. Glancing around, it seemed there were no pursuers. They all sighed in relief.
And their attendants, who were mostly powerful warriors, found this level of physical activity to be no more taxing than a leisurely stroll.
Yuehai had some experience with martial arts due to his practice of magic and martial arts, so he was slightly better off than the others. However, their thorough escape left Yuehai feeling embarrassed. It wasn’t just him; even Zhang Ling and the others, who were at the level of celestial masters, had faces full of embarrassment. Despite not being as affected as Yuehai and the others, they all bore a lingering sense of fear.
After all, if they were caught by those senior students who were like hungry wolves, they might have spent the whole morning surrounded by the crowd. Plus, with Yuehai being so beautiful, everyone would want to take a few more glances at such an attractive vase. It might not have been such a simple morning then.
Thinking like this, Yuehai and the others couldn’t help but admire Claude’s self-sacrificing spirit, putting the greater good above oneself. They looked towards the horizon, the memory of Claude’s final smile before parting seemed to be imprinted in their minds.
“Alright, let’s see if we’re roommates first.” Neruko casually disregarded the reminiscing about Claude and took out her dorm card, followed by the others. The card indicated building T5, 17th floor of the 17th educational district.
“Angel and I are roommates, while Damiyala and Yuehai share another room. But judging from the room numbers, our rooms are adjacent, so sneaking between them should be easy, haha.” Neruko laughed in a rather unladylike manner, hooking her arm around Damiyala’s shoulder, giving off a tomboyish vibe.
Neruko immediately realized her impropriety and withdrew her arm, while Damiyala, with a face full of embarrassment, couldn’t help but give her a disapproving glare. Neruko awkwardly chuckled and said.
“Oh dear, I’ve always been a bit of a tomboy since I was little. You all better get used to it!”
No, it’s you who should adapt. Yuehai couldn’t help but silently criticize. He really hadn’t expected Neruko to have this side to her. Isn’t it said that nobles are genteel and very ladylike? Yet her appearance resembles that of a rough, unrefined fellow.
At this moment, Damiyala gently tapped Neruko’s head and said, “Don’t get too happy too soon. If we don’t pass the assessment, we’ll still have to move out!” While Damiyala and Neruko had the Empire’s preferential certificate for priority enrollment, they still had to undergo assessment. Unlike Yuehai and Angel, who were enrolled directly, even their followers were exempted. However, unfortunately, Angel’s attendant, Karaoke, possessed the strength of a celestial, so he couldn’t become a student. Therefore, the receptionist only processed a resident card for him. Poor Damiyala and her group would have to undergo another assessment before truly enrolling.
