Chapter 32: Uncle and Roommate
After bidding farewell to Dragon Slayer, Diaz and Tyr arrived at the 18th District. Looking at the towering dormitory buildings, Diaz couldn’t help but slightly open his jaw in astonishment. His expression clearly showed that he was frightened by the terrifying height. Tyr nodded vigorously beside him, agreeing wholeheartedly. Yes, yes, most people should have this expression when they see this. Even when he was Yuehai, he felt the same way back then.
However, times had changed, and Tyr was now aware of the existence of elevators, a product of this era. Even living on the nineteenth floor, reaching such a height was just a blink away.
After exchanging a few brief pleasantries with Diaz and leaving a magic stone frequency, Tyr casually made his way to Building T8 of the dormitory. Just as he was about to head towards the direction of the elevator, a middle-aged man who lived in the guard room suddenly pushed open the door and stepped out.
“Where are you going, young man? The stairs are this way.”
“The stairs?” Tyr had a sense of foreboding and turned to size up the man.
The man had a sharp, soldier-like gaze, and the merciless passage of time had left a few wrinkles around his mouth. However, the small tuft of beard on his chin fully displayed the charm of an uncle. Coupled with his explosive physique, it wouldn’t be surprising if he could snap Tyr in half with just one hand.
“Excuse me, sir, are you…”
“Yeah, yeah, just call me uncle. Names don’t matter. If you really want to remember one identity, it’s the administrator. I’m the dormitory administrator here. From the look in your eyes, you must be a new student. What’s your name?”
Although Tyr didn’t dislike the uncle’s familiar tone, the immediate barrage of questions did catch him off guard, leaving him a bit dazed for a moment. After a few seconds, he replied.
“Hello, Uncle Administrator. I’m Tyr, a new student who just passed the assessment today. I live in Room 8 on the seventeenth floor of the dormitory. Please take care of me in the future.”
Tyr, who had been learning basic human etiquette, displayed a humble attitude. However, the uncle waved his hand dismissively and said nonchalantly.
“Don’t worry about formalities here. You can do whatever you want as long as you follow the dormitory rules. If students from other buildings dare to cause trouble here, I’ll be the first to kick them out.”
The uncle’s straightforward nature endeared him to Tyr, much better than those who were deceitful.
“By the way, Uncle, why did you ask me to take the stairs just now?” Tyr asked about the confusion he had earlier, but the uncle replied.
“Well, because of some mischievous students, the elevator is broken. It might take a month to fix, so for now, just climb the stairs.”
“Huh?” Tyr thought he misheard and then stepped out of the dormitory, looking up.
“Uncle, but I’m on the nineteenth floor.”
“Just take it as exercise. What are you afraid of, being a warrior? Don’t be timid, climb up! Up and down, climb it all!” The uncle gave Tyr a thumbs-up, his smile chilling Tyr to the bone.
The problem was that he only had energy-based physical abilities.
By the time Tyr reached the nineteenth floor, it was already afternoon. He casually took off his black mask, breathing in the fresh air in big gulps. The feeling of reaching the end after enduring hardships made Tyr worry about whether he could make it up in one breath the next time climbing stairs.
Damn it, who broke the elevator? Although he wanted to train his energy, it wasn’t to exercise his physical body. While both could increase stamina, it was clear that the former had more potential.
When he pantingly opened the door to Room 8 on the seventeenth floor, he heard a lively voice inside, enthusiastically sharing some anecdotes. However, the voice of another person made Tyr quite familiar.
When he looked closely and saw the blond man sitting on the edge of the bed, Tyr instinctively slammed the door shut without hesitation.
Inside, there was an immediate sound of confusion, as the person inside couldn’t understand why Tyr had abruptly entered and then hurriedly left.
Tyr, who was already out of breath, became even more breathless at this moment.
What were the odds! He had actually encountered Lord Claude! Thankfully, Claude was facing away from him at the time, or it would have been disastrous if he had seen Tyr’s face.
Tyr took two deep breaths, put on his mask again, and reopened the door.
“Hello.”
“Hello there. What happened just now? You suddenly slammed the door and rushed out,” said the cheerful man. He stood up and walked over to Tyr, extending his right hand. Tyr then extended his right hand and shook hands with the man, saying.
“Sorry about that. I just received a sound stone.”
“No problem at all. So, let’s do introductions. I’m Constantine Mobius from the Tifimia Principality in the Sigril Empire. And this is Claude Cyril from the Cyril Principality. They say he’s the grandson of a duke. The empty seat was just occupied by someone who stepped out, but when he returns, remember not to be too surprised, or it might hurt his feelings.”
Tyr felt curious about the last sentence. “Not too surprised?” Was that person really ugly? If so, Tyr was confident he could keep his composure. After considering it for a moment, Tyr glanced at Claude, who had been smiling at him, and then introduced himself.
“I’m Tyr, from the Cyril Principality in the Sigril Empire. Speaking of Lord Claude, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting him a few times.”
The first time in the forest, the memory was still fresh in his mind. Of course, Tyr wouldn’t say such a thing.
“How small the world is,” Claude smiled as usual, walking up to Tyr and extending his right hand.
“At the Duke’s birthday banquet, Your Excellency Tyr’s aura seems different again. It seems you’ve mastered some terrifying techniques.”
“Master Claude, you’re too kind. How can I compare to your Floating Veda?” Tyr said with a smile, but in his heart, countless knots formed. If Claude were to see through anything at this moment, it would be a setback! Despite his thoughts, Tyr’s right hand joined Claude’s without hesitation.
However, at this moment, Constantine said.”What ‘your lordship’ or ‘young master’? We should address each other as classmates! Where are we? Avalon Academy. It’s time to adjust our mindset.”
Constantine’s words stunned the two for a moment, then they smiled faintly. Yes, they were now students of Avalon, not the lords, ladies, or nobles from outside.
“Well then, for the next seven years, let’s critique and take care of each other,” Tyr said politely, taking the lead. Constantine and Claude responded in kind. With smiles exchanged, the three finally relaxed and sat back on the bed.
“Tyr, that bed over there will be yours from now on. It seems the academy doesn’t have a policy for single rooms, so they’ve arranged four beds in one room. It’s better this way; it’ll make communication easier in the future,” Constantine said casually. Neither Tyr nor Claude seemed to mind; after all, they were all grown men and didn’t need to hide anything.
Constantine said nonchalantly, a sentiment shared by both Tyr and Claude. They were all grown men and saw no need to be coy about it.
Just as Tyr was thinking about this, the door gently opened, and in the next moment, a silver-haired girl with shoulder-length hair walked in from outside.
Tyr was dumbfounded. Wasn’t this supposed to be the boys’ dormitory? How did a girl suddenly drift in?
“The silver-haired girl sighed softly at Tyr’s surprised expression, then turned to Constantine.”
“Constantine, did you forget to tell this classmate about me?”
“Hahaha, I just wanted to see Tyr’s reaction! Haha, this is hilarious,” Constantine laughed heartily, clutching his stomach. Meanwhile, Claude, with his mouth twitching slightly, tried to maintain composure as he addressed the silver-haired girl.
“Let me introduce you. This is Tyr, from the same Sigril Empire, Cyril Duchy, as me. Don’t mind the mask; it’s his signature look.”
Tyr remained dumbfounded, unable to fathom the reason why a girl would come to the boys’ dormitory. At this moment, Claude spoke to Tyr.
