Chapter 42: Familiarity

“Tyr where did our Dragon Slayer go?” Neruko looked around but couldn’t spot Dragon Slayer’s petite figure. After all, Dragon Slayer had left with Tyr earlier, so it was strange not to see them together now.

“Our Dragon Slayer… I wonder how she’d feel hearing that,” Tyr thought to himself, then said aloud, “It seems like it’s a bit personal, so it wouldn’t be appropriate for me to accompany her.”

“Ooh, that’s really a shame, Tyr,” Neruko said, looking genuinely disappointed. This made Tyr’s mouth twitch slightly. Lately, it seemed he was constantly being inexplicably hinted at by others, but he didn’t understand what these hints meant at all.

“If Dragon Slayer has something to attend to, let’s go in and take a look first. We can tell her about everything we see and hear today when we get back,” Yuehai hurriedly changed the subject. She felt uncomfortable keeping all the attention on Tyr. She couldn’t shake the feeling that something might slip out, so it was better to redirect everyone’s focus to exploring the academy.

“Ah, the grandson of Falexis, you’re all here,” At this moment, a figure emerged from the building. He was dressed in a white coat, and his messy stubble made him look even more like a middle-aged uncle.

In fact, when Yuehai, Damiyala, and the others saw who the newcomer was, their expressions subtly changed.

Although Claude knew the other’s nickname well, he still respectfully bowed to him.

“Lord Leilindor.”

“If we’re here, just call me Teacher.” Leilindor scratched his head, looking uncomfortable, while Claude nodded with a smile.

“Yes, Teacher. I wonder why Teacher came to Avalon.”

“There are many reasons for that, kid. You don’t need to understand it so deeply.” Leilindor chuckled dryly, but this sleazy appearance reminded Yuehai and the others of the attitude this Teacher had shown when they went to District Seventeen a few days ago.

Yuehai shivered all over, thankful that she was already past the age of being a hunting target. Otherwise, she didn’t know what this sloppy old man would do. In the Duke’s mansion, there was still Nicholas to restrain him, but here, it was truly Leilindor’s domain.

“Yes.” Claude always maintained a respectful attitude towards Leilindor, which obviously had to do with upbringing. However, those who knew Leilindor even a little wouldn’t maintain such an attitude anymore, so Claude’s demeanor was somewhat difficult to understand.

“Teacher Leilindor, could you please guide us?”

“Yeah, Teacher, it’s been about a month or two since you arrived.”

Several voices echoed in agreement, but the so-called “Teacher” in his white robe waved his hand casually, giving a nonchalant response.

“The place is so big, I don’t even know my way around. How could I guide you?”

After the incident of Leilindor getting lost last time, Yuehai finally came to a conclusion: this guy was directionally challenged, and not just a regular one, but a super one who could easily forget even if he walked the same path many times. Yuehai wanted to share this significant discovery with others immediately, but saying it out loud here would be too rude, so she decided to wait until they were back in the dormitory to discuss it.

“Where does Teacher want to go now?” Claude asked again, and Leilindor shrugged.

“Just wandering around. I sensed a few familiar faces and decided to come over. Didn’t expect it to be you kids.”

After exchanging a few more pleasantries with Claude and the others, Leilindor vanished without a trace. The others exchanged glances and ultimately decided to split up, grouping themselves based on dormitories: Yuehai, Ye Xi, and Damiyala formed one group; Diaz, Wind Slash Ghost, and Shating Iron Sword formed another; Claude, Tyr, Constantine, and Kagura Xiaoqi formed a third; Angel, Neruko, and Gui Dongri formed yet another; Arena, Butterfly of Sunflowers, and Leia formed the last group.

Most of these were familiar faces, and the fact that they were grouped together so conveniently didn’t seem like a coincidence at all. The likelihood of it being orchestrated was even greater.

“Well then, let’s depart from here. If there are any issues, contact us via the Magic Sound Stones.”

Damiyala and her two companions chose a corridor, while the others spread out to either upstairs or the adjacent hallways, each finding their target. Upon hearing Damiyala’s voice, they all nodded in agreement.

“So, shall we meet back here at five in the afternoon, final decision?” This proposal naturally met with no objections, and thereafter, everyone departed slowly with their respective groups.

“This is… ” Yuehai looked at the peculiar workshop room with a hint of confusion, while Damiyala, unsure, answered while supporting her chin.

“It seems like an office.”

“We’ll know once we go in.” Neruko didn’t wait for their guessing to end; she pushed the door open abruptly.

“Sorry to interrupt!”

The cheerful voice drew the attention of the sole figure in the room, and Yuehai and the others looked inside out of curiosity. The arrangement of the room was completely different from any place in the Sigril Empire. The figure was kneeling on the floor, but seemed perfectly at ease. In front of him was a low desk, requiring him to kneel in order to reach it properly.

“Young lady, if you want to come in, take off your shoes.”

It wasn’t until he spoke that Yuehai and the others focused their gaze on the man. He had long red hair, and if it weren’t for his distinctly masculine face, his hair alone might have led to mistaking him for a woman. After all, his long hair was so beautiful that even Yuehai, who usually didn’t pay much attention to anything beyond faces, couldn’t help but admire it.

After a moment, the three of them understood what the man had said and took off their shoes before entering the room.

“Um, may I ask, are you…?” With courtesy as a visitor and an apology for Neruko’s intrusion earlier, Yuehai carefully worded her question to the red-haired man.

The man lifted the ink brush in his hand and spoke calmly.

“If all goes as planned, then I am your teacher.”

So he really was their teacher. After all, from his mysterious aura, one could infer that his strength was definitely not lacking. Being so calm and composed while living alone in a room in the Yusheng Tower probably meant he was one of the teachers.

“Hello, Teacher. It was our mistake to come in without greeting earlier,” Yuehai said, as the man laid out a piece of white paper on the desk and lifted the ink brush as if to write. However, he smiled and shook his head, indicating that it was unnecessary.

Yuehai breathed a sigh of relief; fortunately, this teacher wasn’t the kind with a bad temper. Damiyala then asked.

“Teacher, may I ask what your name is?”

“Well, as for my name…” The red-haired man’s ink brush paused briefly, then swiftly changed direction, writing without hesitation until four large characters appeared on the paper before stopping.

Neruko was curious, tilting her head to look at the four characters written on the paper by the man. She couldn’t help but read them aloud.

“Number three, person, thing?”

Number three person? What does that mean? Yuehai and Damiyala exchanged looks, both of them puzzled, despite being quick-witted individuals.
