Chapter 29: Meeting the Parents After Three Years of Marriage?

Ultimately, Little Light won over her mother, sister, and aunt with her irresistible charm. Then, she won over her father with an irresistible uppercut.

Mr. Casmode, a father who doted on his daughter, finally surrendered. He sat on the bed holding Little Light, allowing her to act coquettishly in his arms.

Muen sat nearby, holding the “Young Dragon Enlightenment Reader: New Edition” and reading a story to Little Light.

The old edition depicted Constantine as a hero of the dragon race, but this hero had been swiftly defeated by their father. As a result, the dragon race’s publisher had to urgently compile a new edition of the enlightenment reader.

Meanwhile, Rosvitha and Isabella started discussing serious matters.

“Sis, your visit this time isn’t just to see Little Light, right?”

Dragons wouldn’t move around casually. No matter how much Isabella liked her nieces, it wouldn’t be enough for her to visit again just three months later.

Sure enough, Isabella nodded. “Indeed, there is something I want to tell you.”

“If it was just to tell me something, you could have used a messenger dragon. There was no need to come personally,” Rosvitha said.

Isabella shook her head with a smile. “Little Rose, this isn’t a small matter.”

Rosvitha raised her beautiful eyebrows, intrigued. “So, what is this matter you want to tell me?”

“Grandmother is coming back.”

When she heard the word ‘grandmother’, Rosvitha was visibly stunned.

Leon, who was soothing the baby nearby, also overheard the conversation between Rosvitha and her sister—not that he intended to eavesdrop, but the bedroom was only so big, and it was impossible not to hear.

Their grandmother…

Leon remembered that during the few days right after he woke up, when he and Rosvitha were chatting, she mentioned her family. Both she and Isabella were born as dragons, but they had never met their parents and were raised by their grandmother.

However, despite living with Rosvitha for nearly two years, Leon had never seen this grandmother who was often mentioned. After that conversation, Rosvitha rarely spoke about her family again.

So, this legendary grandmother… Was she finally going to make an appearance?

Leon couldn’t help but wonder if his paranoia from being persecuted by the Empire was acting up. His first thought was whether Rosvitha’s grandmother’s appearance had something to do with the Empire.

He shook his head, deciding not to make such baseless speculations for now.

On Rosvitha’s side, after calming herself down a bit, she asked, “Did Grandmother write to you?”

“Yes, I received a letter from her yesterday. It wasn’t very long. First, she asked how we were doing, then she mentioned that she would be coming back soon. She hopes our strength hasn’t regressed and that we still live up to the title of Dragon Kings.”

Hearing this, Rosvitha smiled helplessly. “Grandmother is still as strict as ever.”

Thinking back to her childhood, Rosvitha and her sister Isabella had grown up under their grandmother’s strict guidance. Whether it was their studies, magical training, or daily life, their grandmother had always had very high expectations for them.

Noia’s temperament was somewhat like their grandmother’s. However, while her eldest daughter pushed herself hard, their grandmother pushed both herself and her two granddaughters just as hard.

But Grandmother’s educational methods weren’t just about blind pressure and high demands; her strictness with the Silver-Red sisters was always perfectly measured.

As a result, in their adulthood, Isabella and Rosvitha didn’t feel like they had an unhappy childhood. Never having met their parents, they felt fortunate to have such a dedicated and responsible grandmother.

Pulling her thoughts back from memories, Rosvitha looked at her sister. “Did Grandmother say why she’s coming back this time? Is it just to visit us?”

“No, she didn’t say. But I don’t think it’s just a simple visit,” Isabella replied.

“The last time we saw Grandmother was on the day you ascended to the throne. That was fifty years ago, right?”

“Yes… over fifty years ago. Back then, I was full of ambition, eager to lead the Silver Dragon clan to greatness. And now—”

Isabella, watching her sister, guessed she was about to lament the passage of time.

However, perhaps influenced by her easygoing brother-in-law, Rosvitha finished her sentence with:

“And now, I’m the mother of three children.”

“…”

Isabella playfully poked her sister’s forehead. “If Grandmother knew how cheerful you’ve become, she would be very happy.”

Rosvitha blushed. “What do you mean ‘become cheerful’? I’ve always been like this.”

Isabella smirked. “Oh, really? Before marrying Leon, you could count the times you smiled in a year on one hand. Am I wrong?”

Leon, who had been forced to overhear their conversation, straightened up immediately upon hearing this. Did you see that? This is what it means to be a dragon-slaying champion!

Rosvitha shot an annoyed glance at Leon’s back. Complimenting him only made him more insufferable. She quickly tugged on her sister’s arm, lowering her voice, “Don’t praise him, he’ll get a swollen head.”

Isabella chuckled and turned back to the topic of their grandmother.

“In any case, since only something as significant as your coronation brought Grandmother back last time, it stands to reason that her return now must be for something important too.”

Something important… Rosvitha looked at Leon again.

In many ways, she and her husband shared similar thought patterns.

Just as Leon had speculated that Grandmother’s return might be related to the Empire, Rosvitha couldn’t help but connect the recent events involving the Empire and Constantine with her grandmother’s return.

Of course, connecting these events didn’t mean Rosvitha believed her grandmother had some secret dealings with the Empire. It was just a feeling that they were related.

Noticing her sister deep in thought, Isabella asked, “Little Rose, did you think of something?”

“Ah? Oh… I was just guessing that Grandmother’s return might have something to do with Constantine,” Rosvitha said, choosing not to mention the Empire.

“After all, the invasion of the Silver Dragon clan isn’t a trivial matter. It’s something Grandmother would deem worth checking out.”

“Hmm… that makes sense,” Isabella agreed, pausing before a thought struck her.

“But if Grandmother really is coming back because she’s worried about the Silver Dragon clan being in danger, why didn’t she come three years ago?”

Three years ago.

Rosvitha knew exactly what Isabella was referring to: the attack on the Silver Dragon clan by the human empire’s Dragon Slayer Army. The leader of that army, the human hero and the most formidable dragon slayer, was currently sitting in her bedroom, soothing their daughter.

She stole a glance at Leon, then quickly redirected the conversation. “Maybe Grandmother was too occupied at that time.”

“Could be. We’ve never really known what she’s been up to all these years. After raising us to adulthood, she said she was off to travel the world, but no one knows what she’s actually doing,” Isabella sighed. “I have so many questions saved up to ask her this time.”

Rosvitha chuckled. “Me too. Though… I don’t think she knows that I’m married.”

The Red Dragon Queen’s eyes lit up with curiosity, her gossiping nature rekindled, “Meeting the parents!!”
