Chapter 21: Of course, there is another magic

“You guys, can you please keep your family drama away from me?” Ron shoved Adrian and touched his bleeding nose.

This father-son conflict was something he, as a bystander, wanted no part in.

“And you, praying at a time like this?” Ron added, giving the oblivious mayor a stern look.

After hearing their conversation, Ron realized the most troublesome person was the mayor. The guy in front of him, with a smile on his face, had done things more brutal than anyone, behaving like a madman.

Compared to these two, Ron felt that the people he had encountered as a wanderer were practically saints.

“That evil god looks hideous,” Ron said, expressing his disdain for the deity displaying various expressions.

Adrian explained, “You, as an accomplice, aided that wicked scammer.”

“If you feel guilty, you should embrace the evil god like me,” he added with a smile.

Most people in Winterhold were not willingly implanted with the evil god. After being implanted, they gave up their original beliefs and turned to worship the evil god. The evil god did benefit them, like Adrian, who originally had a frail body. He almost died after catching a cold before the implantation.

“If it weren’t for the evil god, he wouldn’t have had such a healthy body.”

Adrian firmly believed his devotion to the evil god was not hypocritical.

Ron glanced at the evil god, expressing his disdain, and thought his previous encounters were with much better people. Adrian grabbed Ron and repeatedly smashed him, showcasing the brute strength granted by the evil god.

The surrounding auroras suddenly disappeared when the scroll was torn, and the ice sculptures began to tremble. As the first person implanted with the evil god, Adrian was the most affected and gained the most powerful strength. However, the magic from the Mage Tower only lowered the activity of the evil gods, not completely halting their growth.

Over the past century, the malevolent gods implanted in others have been growing, and after breaking free, they wouldn’t be much different. All of this was not good news for the outside world. One after another, the drumming sounds from the evil gods echoed, and Adrian knew that the townspeople would return soon. However, he quickly turned his gaze to the mayor lying in the pool of blood because the freezing had ended, and the cage of time still persisted. He tried to leave this place, but he would return to the starting point after a while.

He had lived in Winterhold for a long time, and the freezing didn’t erase his memory, so he was sure he couldn’t get lost. “Why is this cage still around? Didn’t I tear the magic scroll?” Adrian forcefully crumpled the torn scroll into a ball and threw it on the ground. Irritation surged within him, and the corners of the strange face on his chest downturned. Sparks erupted wildly from the evil god’s mouth, making Adrian appear fiercely aggressive. Although his expression appeared calm, the veins at the corners of his eyes and forehead had already bulged. His evil god wanted to leave Winterhold, and he also wanted to leave Winterhold.

“Father, what have you done?” Adrian walked toward the mayor, lifting him from the pool of blood. He showed no signs of kindness towards his own father at this moment. Although Adrian spoke of a father, every move seemed like he was dealing with a stranger. No, one could even say he treated him like an enemy. “Why is the freezing magic lifted, and we’re still trapped here? What else did you get from the Mage Tower?” Adrian spoke while the evil god roared. When the scroll was initially handed to Adrian, the mayor claimed that it could accelerate the growth of individuals with the evil god.

“Adrian…” Faced with Adrian’s questioning, the mayor could only groan in pain, producing sounds mixed with bubbles. He didn’t want to see Adrian like this, so he chose to endure endless torment. The young man in front of him should have been the simple and kind Adrian, not the madman deprived of reason by the evil god. He shouldn’t have implanted the evil god into Adrian, believing in such an elusive power. But who in the dual-color world can resist believing in such powers?

Along with the sound of bubbles, there was also the mournful cry of the squirrel. The squirrel even tried to scratch Adrian with its claws, hoping to make him let go. A look of anger crossed Adrian’s face on his chest, and as flames splattered, a thunderous sound drowned out the squirrel’s lament.

“Shut up.” Adrian kicked the squirrel away with a foot, then lifted the mayor higher, “Tell me quickly, how can I leave Winterhaven?”

“It’s useless… from the beginning, there has been no way to leave Winterhaven…” The mayor’s voice sounded leaking, even more unpleasant than usual.

Generally, only those with great patience could endure listening to the mayor’s words, “Otherwise, I wouldn’t have… let him come here…” “I just… wanted to see you once…” He closed his eyes and spoke. However, he didn’t expect the scene after the meeting to be like this.

In response, Adrian threw him back into the pool of blood and cursed, “You old fool!” Unbeknownst to Adrian, there came some slight movement over where Ron should have been killed.
