Chapter 26: This place is strangely beautiful

“Crack.”

Ron extended his hand, effortlessly crushing the man’s jaw. This skill wasn’t something expected of him as a warrior. However, the man with the crushed jaw didn’t scream; he even laughed. It was as if he couldn’t feel pain, attempting to embrace Ron.

Ron used a shoulder to throw him to the ground. The commotion caught the attention of others.

“How could you do this?”

“Are you resorting to violence against us?”

The unfrozen townsfolk approached Ron calmly, speaking composedly. But if one could see the evil god’s face beneath the clothes, it wore an expression of anger. Veins popped out, and each step shook the ground. Some grabbed lampposts, causing them to cave in.

Ron remained unusually calm, facing them, knowing how to deal with them. With burn marks and dried blood, the left hand became a subtle pattern. It wasn’t royal or forbidden power, just a mark left on Ron by the evil god. This marked him as a threat capable of killing the evil gods.

After throwing the townsfolk, he punched at the evil god’s location. Blood stained the enemy’s clothes, severing its life without pulling it out. Before Ron, they were no longer immortal but as fragile as infants.

The phrase “<a section for the deceased>” represented the initial power gained.

The essence of this power came from shared knowledge and experience.

He now knew all the experience dealing with evil gods and the <omen of death>.

<Omen of death> is the heavy blow he previously dealt to Adrian, taking away another person’s life.

After gaining the possibility of informing the deceased, he understood they were labels, consensus, and evaluations. From under the blood-stained clothes came a hoarse cry.

Ron listened to the mournful cry of the evil god and used the same method on another town’s folk. His emotions remained calm as if accustomed to such scenes.

Ron should have experienced similar things to learn, but he took advantage and gained everything directly.

Of course, Ron didn’t feel any guilt about it. After all, free things in this world always come with a precise price tag. Ron had always believed that free things were the most expensive in this world. Covered in the blood befitting a madman, he took a deep breath and felt less cold.

The snow-white squirrel on Ron’s shoulder hopped onto a clearing, observing the scene with its agile eyes. It would be the only witness to this slaughter. No, it shouldn’t be called a slaughter. Looking at the wounds on Ron’s body, it preferred to call it a battle. It was simply a matter of whether you die or I live.

After an unknown amount of time, only corpses remained by Ron’s side. He was more of a butcher than an adventurer. Anyone who witnessed this horrifying scene in the center of the town would surely want to report Ron.

What kind of madman could kill so many people and remain indifferent?

[Task System Update.] [Task Name: Brave Battle] [You are now facing a life and death crisis, but you are the strongest existence on earth in the future. You cannot retreat here. Even if it means facing death, you must go down together.] [Task Content: Kill the offspring of the Evil God (23/12)] [Your outstanding…]

After updating the data, the system seemed like it wanted to say something more, but Ron directly interrupted, “Shut the hell up right now.”

Ron considered himself a person with a generally good temper. He wouldn’t usually swear unless he couldn’t hold it in—just like now.

Unless he really can’t help it—just like the current situation.

Ron, despite his exhaustion, forced himself up and dragged Adrian and the mayor’s bodies away from this corpse-laden place.

The squirrel followed closely beside Ron along the way, seemingly wanting to know what Ron intended to do. Ron brought their bodies back to the original small house and then found a shovel.

In this seemingly endless place, Ron calmly dug a grave for them, “I accompanied you in a family drama, yet received no reward. Remember to feel ashamed after going to hell.”

Many bones in his body were crushed by the brute force of the evil god, so when he felt the pain became unbearable, he would take a break. Feeling the non-existent flow of time, he suddenly could understand the mayor to a certain extent.

People are inevitably worn down to that extent by staying in a place like this for a long time.

If it were Ron, he might go mad right on the spot.

But what did it have to do with him? He wouldn’t spend his whole life in this endless town.

“That damn Madam Mercury, if she doesn’t give me a territory, I’ll definitely protest!” He cursed to himself.

The surroundings were deserted, and no one could hear Ron’s curses except the squirrel.

Nevertheless, Ron continued to curse, expressing dissatisfaction since he crossed over.

“Evil gods!? Get the hell out of here!”

“Even though I don’t know what Vandal doesn’t know, I’ll make sure you roll away in the future!”

Even though it caused him pain, he still exerted all his strength to shovel the snow. The snow was thrown up and landed on the side, splashing the squirrel with snow all over its head.

After burying the father and son, Ron was tired. He placed the tombstone he had carved on the grave and then sat in the place where the mayor usually rested. He didn’t know why he decided to bury the father and son; it was just a momentary impulse.

Ron emptied his mind, gazing straight at the sky. It wasn’t until today that he thoughtfully observed the blue sky, and there were faint fragments in the sky. The fragments connected, forming a ring that seemed to encircle the entire bicolored world.

“It’s quite nice,” was Ron’s only comment.
