Chapter 62: Crazy, It’s me

Rosweissa flew behind Sta.

Leon leapt up, landing on her back. After picking Leon up, the two immediately distanced themselves from Sta.

“Is this guy making his final counterattack?” Leon watched as Sta continued to gather energy.

Rosweissa circled above, observing Sta’s condition. He didn’t seem like he was preparing a counterattack. No, this looked more like… a mutual destruction?!*

[*”同归于尽 (tóngguīyújìn)”: – A Chinese idiom meaning “mutual destruction,” often used to describe a situation where two opponents perish together, typically out of vengeance or desperation.]

At that moment, not only was Sta gathering energy in his mouth, but even his heart was starting to glow.

“He’s using the power of the Heart-Guarding Dragon Scales.”*

[*”护心龙鳞 (hùxīn lónglín)”: – “Heart-Guarding Dragon Scales” refers to a special, powerful part of a dragon’s anatomy that protects the heart and can be used to amplify energy for destructive purposes.]

Rosweissa’s voice was low. “Sta is planning to destroy everything here.”

It was an unfamiliar term to Leon, so he asked, “Heart-Guarding Dragon Scales? What’s that?”

Rosweissa hesitated for a moment before replying, “It’s complicated to explain. But in short, if we don’t stop Sta, we’re all going to die here.”

Leon could feel the terrifying energy Sta was amassing. If he were at his peak, he might be able to gather enough power to cancel it out. But right now, he only had fifty percent of his magic reserves, and the previous rounds of combat had already consumed a lot of his energy.

So, if they wanted to stop Sta, they would need to find another way.

Leon responded, “This energy is already beyond control or estimation, and even Sta knows it.”

Rosweissa said, “He’s now a giant, uncontrollable bomb that could explode at any moment. And we don’t have any energy strong enough to neutralize it.”

She knew Leon’s power well—at his peak, he was overwhelmingly strong. But this situation was unlike anything before. The Sta about to go down with them was the strongest opponent Leon had ever faced.

After a brief hesitation, Rosweissa asked, “What’s your plan? Retreat, or stay and try to stop him?”

Leon frowned, analyzing calmly. “Rosweissa, you just said that the explosion range is unpredictable, and Noa and the others are still in the sanctuary. We can’t take that risk, so we must stop Sta’s self-destruction here.”

After pondering for a moment, Rosweissa nodded. “Alright. Do you have any ideas?”

Leon slowly raised his head and looked at the blue sky. Suddenly, a crazy idea flashed through his mind.

Far off on the general’s platform, Lavie had already prepared a spatial teleportation array. The moment Sta self-destructed, he would flee through the teleportation spell.

Lavie had never imagined that the old dragon would go so mad as to destroy everything here.

Did he really not know how terrifying that power was?

Oh. Maybe he did. But after all, once he used this move, everyone would die, so what did it matter?

The dragons’ inherent obsession with revenge was something even they sometimes couldn’t understand. Especially kings like Sta, with purer dragon blood. They couldn’t allow themselves to fail, and certainly not so miserably.

Mutual destruction was part of how these mad dragons* fought their enemies.

[*”疯龙 (fēng lóng)”: – “Mad dragons,” a reference to dragons who act recklessly, driven by pride or vengeance, especially in their final moments.]

“Hey, hey, Lavie, you can’t just leave me here! The lord won’t spare you!” Nacho anxiously grabbed Lavie’s arm.

Lavie disdainfully shook him off. “If you want to survive, stop spouting nonsense. Leon Cosmord is dead this time, truly dead. His power is strong, yes, but from what I’ve observed, with his current level, there’s no way he can gather enough magic to match Sta. This place will be flattened, and we won’t even need to lift a finger.”

“Y-Yes, right! Leon won’t escape, and our mission will be complete!” Now, Nacho also began crazily echoing Lavie. “It’s just a pity about Sta. Such a brave Dragon King, going down like this.”

Lavie bit his lip. “Sacrificing Sta to erase a monster like Leon Cosmord from this world is a fair trade.”

“Yes, yes, from the moment that kid joined the army, I never thought much of him, I—wait, what are they doing?” Nacho looked again toward the battlefield.

Lavie followed his gaze.

He saw Rosweissa, still in dragon form, continuously shooting fireballs into the sky. The silver dragon guards waiting at the border also shifted into their dragon forms, following Rosweissa’s lead, sending fireballs toward the sky.

Hundreds of fireballs vanished into the clouds at once.

Those fireballs… surely they won’t harm Sta?Lavie thought, So what are they doing?

A death ritual?

On the battlefield, Sta continued to gather energy. The silver dragon clan kept firing fireballs into the sky, one after another.

Gradually, the previously clear sky began to darken, and thick storm clouds rolled in.

Plop—

A drop of water fell on Lavie’s hand.

He looked down. “Rain?”

After one drop, a downpour soon followed.

Lavie glanced at the silver dragons, who kept launching fireballs, and muttered to himself, “Dragon flames heat the surrounding air, creating an updraft that forms storm clouds, so it’s raining… But do they really think rainwater will extinguish Sta’s destructive fury? What a joke, they’re a bunch of idiots—”

His words abruptly stopped.

No. Something wasn’t right.

They weren’t using the rainwater.

They were—

BOOM!—

A thunderclap echoed from within the clouds.

The thunder roared like it was exploding in Lavie’s heart, rendering him speechless.

“Thunder… that lunatic… that guy’s insane!!” Lavie realized what was happening and seemed to lose control.

Beside him, Nacho still didn’t understand. “What? S-Should we run away now?!”

“No.”

A strange smile spread across Lavie’s darkened face. “This kind of scene, if you miss it, you’ll never see it again in your lifetime. How can we run?”

Nacho’s expression changed. “You’re mad… you dragons are all mad!”

Meanwhile, on the battlefield, the massive silver dragon hovered in the sky.

Leon stood tall on the dragon’s head, raising his right hand high.

The rain poured harder. The lightning within the clouds, like a beast suddenly awakened, bellowed with deafening rage.

“Lightning, the most powerful and uncontrollable element in nature.”

Leon summoned the lightning as the thunder rolled endlessly. “But to stop something as uncontrollable as Sta, we’ll need this kind of power.”

“Sometimes I really think your way of thinking is like a dragon’s, Leon.”

Rosweissa said softly, “No human would come up with such a crazy plan.”

Leon spoke, “My dear Melquith, neither dragons nor humans are the crazy ones—”

Lightning surged, shaking the heavens and earth.

That man in silver armor leapt from the dragon’s head.

“The crazy one… is me.”

He grasped the lightning and charged straight into the golden light about to obliterate everything.
