Chapter 68: Watch out, Daddy’s Magical Girl (bushi)

“Still six months left? What does that… mean? What will happen six months from now?” Leon asked, a bit panicked.

He had an unsettling premonition.

This bad feeling wasn’t just because of Aurora’s mention of “still six months left,” but also because since he had awakened, he hadn’t seen Roseweiser or Noamoon at all.

Especially the dilapidated Silver Dragon Temple behind him, which looked as if it had gone through a fierce battle.

“From now on, I have to complete my research in six months—oh, I should say I must complete it.”

Aurora said, “But from the moment you disappeared, everything will change in six months.”

Leon sat up straight, feeling increasingly tense, and pressed, “Does it have to do with your mother and sisters? Where are they now? What happened? Are they still—”

Still alive? Leon didn’t dare to ask this question outright.

Compared to why he had been wandering outside of time for twenty years, he cared more about his wife and daughter.

Twenty years was enough time for any unexpected changes to occur.

Aurora smiled, “They are all still alive.”

The simple four words immediately made Leon breathe a sigh of relief.

His tense body also relaxed.

“Then where are they now?” Leon quickly asked.

“Well… it’s hard to understand just by talking about it. So—”

Aurora stood up and stepped over to a space nearby.

Leon stared at her in confusion, not knowing what she was about to do.

The next moment, Aurora’s actions stunned her father completely.

He watched as she slightly tilted her head back, and a pair of dragon wings suddenly unfurled from her back.

The dragon’s wings wrapped around Aurora’s body.

Moments later, Aurora spread her dragon wings, and a huge silver dragon appeared right in front of Leon.

The old father was utterly dumbfounded, the skewers in his hand dropping to the ground unnoticed.

He gazed at the silver dragon before him; although Aurora’s dragon form was much smaller than Roseweiser’s, it still left Leon speechless with astonishment.

It was as if you left your daughter at home while you went to work; After two years, when you returned, you thought you could still play games like hide and seek and handkerchief toss with your cute daughter, having a fun and happy time together.

But then your daughter pulled out an AK-47 from behind and said, “Dad, let’s go plant a bomb at Point A!”

Em—

Totally insane!

Thud—thud—

The giant dragon gracefully walked up to the dumbstruck old man and gently nudged him with its head,

“Why haven’t you transformed into a dragon yet?”

General Leon came to his senses, “Huh? Me?”

“Yeah, hurry up and transform, then we can go find Big Sister.”

Is it that simple to transform?

Do you think your dad is some kind of magical girl?

Leon scratched his head awkwardly, thinking that Roseweiser really kept her word and didn’t expose his identity at all; she had hidden it from their daughter for twenty years.

Since it was like this, he couldn’t drop the ball either and had to continue keeping the secret.

“Dad just came out of the rift… my body isn’t feeling well yet, so I can’t transform.”

“Oh~~ so it’s because you’re not feeling well~~”

Aurora deliberately stretched the last word as if implying something, “Well, then I guess I’ll just have to carry you.”

“Well, it seems there’s no other choice.”

Leon thought, Once a crow feeds its mother, now it’s the little light carrying her dad, emphasizing filial piety.

Aurora bent down and let Leon climb onto her back.

“Are you holding on tight?”

“Mm.”

“Then let’s—take off.”

The giant dragon flapped its wings, extinguishing the nearby campfire, and its silver form shot up into the sky, quickly vanishing into the night.

“You just said you were going to find Noamoon? Isn’t she with Mom and Noamoon?”

“No, she’s waiting for you in a very far place…”

“Waiting… for me?”

“Mm.”

Leon opened his mouth, wanting to ask more.

But seeing his daughter’s somewhat terse way of speaking, it seemed she didn’t want to say too much right now.

Leon understood the atmosphere and stopped asking further.

He sat cross-legged on Aurora’s back; this feeling was exactly the same as when he was on Roseweiser’s back.

The unique high speed of the silver dragon clan and the rushing air by his ears were all so familiar.

To be honest, Leon had never thought he would survive after entering the space rift.

Even though after surviving, a pile of problems lay before him, making him feel at a loss.

But it was still better than being separated from his family, right?

It’s just—

Leon sighed heavily and looked down at the ground.

It feels like… I don’t belong to this world that’s twenty years later.

Is it the sense of alienation caused by the changes, or something else…

Leon couldn’t quite figure it out.

He just wanted to see his wife and daughter as soon as possible.

“Speaking of which, I’ve never seen what your dragon form looks like.”

Aurora’s voice broke through Leon’s thoughts.

He came back to his senses, and cleared his throat, “Ah, well… once Dad’s body has recovered, I’ll show you.”

“Okay. But… it seems your health hasn’t been very good for a while.”

Aurora said, “I still remember when you had a cold as a child, and I made you Dragon Strength.* After you took it, you were bouncing around the next day. So, do you want me to make another one for you? That way you can recover quickly.”

[*” 龙大力 (Lóng Dàlì)”: “Dragon Strength” – A fictional medicinal concoction in the story that presumably enhances physical strength or vitality, specifically associated with dragons.]

“No, no, no, that thing has side effects if taken too much, it’s not suitable for frequent use.”

Mainly it’s hard on the kidneys.

“Is that so? Then fine.”

Leon might not have realized that he was casually talking about the effects of Dragon Strength in front of a dragon scholar who had read various magical books over the past twenty years.

The reason for this was that in his subconscious, he still regarded the giant dragon beneath him as the little light who used to follow him around asking questions.

And Aurora actually played along without exposing him.

Was this because the little girl cared about her dad’s pride, or for some other reason—  It’s hard to say, hard to say.

After several hours of flying, the father and daughter arrived at the border between the dragon clan and human territory.

Leon recognized this place.

At the same time, he guessed where Noamoon was waiting for him.

In a cave behind a waterfall in a mountain gorge.

However, before Leon could feel excited about soon seeing his eldest daughter, he suddenly realized another thing:

If Noamoon was really here, didn’t that mean they already knew their old dad was human?

After all, that cave behind the waterfall was known only to him, Roseweiser, his master, and Rebecca.

Just now, he only asked little light about Roseweiser and them, not mentioning his master and Rebecca, to avoid raising little light’s suspicions.

But then again, if little light and they really knew about Leon’s identity, then why did she just tell him to transform?

Thinking it over, Leon decided to keep quiet for now.

As he had thought before, twenty years could bring about any unexpected changes.

Until he figured out all the circumstances, silence was the best choice.
