Chapter 107: Dragon God Tiamat
Leon raised an eyebrow, “Oh? What’s that?”
“The Dragon God, Tiamat. According to historical records, it was one of the ancestors who created original magic.”
“The Dragon God… Tiamat…”
This was another name Leon had never heard before. But this time, the title wasn’t “Dragon King,” but something that sounded even higher—“Dragon God.”
If Tiamat was the ancestor of original magic, it existed long before the entirety of human history, so it made sense that Leon had never heard of it.
“In the dragon race’s historical records, it is written that all dragons are descendants of the Dragon God, Tiamat.”
“Millions of years ago, Tiamat created powerful original magic and used it to resist the world’s chaos.”
“In the end, Tiamat, along with the ancestors of several mysterious races, achieved the great feat of ‘splitting the heavens,’ but it was on the brink of death due to the exhaustion of its power.”
“Before its death, Tiamat divided its remaining power seeds into several parts, which would slowly grow over the long ages, eventually evolving into the various dragon races that exist today.”
“And during this evolution, original magic disappeared into the river of history, replaced by the various elemental magics we have now.”
Hearing Roseweisse’s explanation, Leon’s thoughts stirred. He recalled her earlier desire to enhance her abilities and asked,
“You’re not thinking of practicing original magic, are you?”
Roseweisse turned her head on the pillow to look at Leon, smiling as she said,
“Yes. With the dragon marks storing more magic power, I should be able to use original magic.”
Original magic is released from the purest energy. Although Roseweisse’s element is fire, as long as she doesn’t release the accumulated energy, it will remain in its purest ‘form’ stored within her body.
However, even so, casting original magic requires a vast amount of energy.
To solve the energy issue, Roseweisse adopted the same method as Leon—using the dragon marks to store magical power.
“But you just said that there’s very little documentation on original magic, so practicing it… should be quite difficult, right?”
“It’ll be difficult. But relying only on fire magic and learned spells won’t be enough.”
Roseweisse said, “If I want to significantly improve my strength in a short amount of time without going to extremes, original magic is the only path, Leon.”
“…Alright, I understand.”
“Hmm? So you’re agreeing to let me practice original magic?”
Leon pursed his lips, raised his arms, and rested them behind his head, gazing at the ceiling as he slowly said,
“What else can I do? As my master used to say, ‘When your wife tells you she wants to do something, she’s not asking for your opinion, she’s informing you.’”
Roseweisse became interested and propped herself up on one hand, poking Leon’s arm as she asked,
“Got any classic examples?”
Leon thought for a moment and replied,
“There was a time when my master’s wife got bored at home, bought a bunch of needles and thread, and said she wanted to do embroidery to make some extra money for the household.”
“At first, my master said it wasn’t necessary; the income from the ranch was enough to support the family. Worst case, they could sell the donkey for a good price.”
“But his wife acted coy and insisted on doing embroidery—by the way, when you act coy, you’re exactly like her.”
The queen delivered a kick to Leon’s thigh, “Just tell the story, don’t drag me into it.”
Leon grinned and continued,
“So, my master couldn’t argue with her and let her learn embroidery. But she wasn’t very good at it and often hurt her hands.”
“In the end, after a month and countless band-aids, she finally completed a piece called ‘Donkey Eating Grass.’”
“But after that, she never touched the needle and thread again. She said her fingers were more important than killing time.”
Sigh. Leon sighed, “So when your wife wants to do something, don’t stop her. She’ll eventually trip up on her own.”
The more Roseweisse listened, the more of it sounded. She realized what was happening and tapped Leon’s chest,
“Are you trying to hint at something?”
“Heavens above, I was just sharing a funny story from my family. How is that hinting at anything?” Leon feigned innocence.
“You are! You’re hinting!”
As she spoke, Roseweisse kicked Leon’s thigh again. This time, Leon caught her ankle just in time,
“I told you, when you act coy, you’re just like her.”
“This isn’t being coy! I’m trying to kick you!”
“With your foot?”
“Well, of course. How else would I kick you?”
“Hm~~ Why are you rewarding me?”
Hearing that, the queen quickly retracted her foot and hid it under the covers, “You slimy, narcissistic, thick-skinned married man! Go sleep on the couch!”
Since she’d already called him thick-skinned, Leon decided to show her just how thick.
Sleep on the couch?
Can’t hear that.
I’m staying right here, thank you very much.
After a bit of playful banter, the two finally grew too tired and lay back to rest.
Under the covers, Leon tentatively reached for Roseweisse’s side. Seeing no resistance from her, he gently held her soft right hand.
The couple remained silent for a while before Leon spoke,
“Are you sure about this, Roseweisse?”
“Yes, original magic might not be the only method, but it’s the most effective in a short time.”
Leon blinked and asked again, “Roseweisse, aside from protecting your people and our daughters, you seem to have another reason. What is it? Can you tell me?”
Hearing Leon’s question, Roseweisse pursed her lips slightly and turned her head to look at him,
“Do you want to know?”
Leon turned to meet her gaze, “Yes.”
Rustle
The beauty sat up, her soft skin brushing against the bedding.
She leaned in close to Leon, cupping his chin as her fingers traced the scars on his face, her silver eyes gazing into his deep black ones.
“Long ago, you were always troubled by what Augus said, worried about losing me and our daughters. That night, I told you a lot, and you let go of those concerns.”
“But words alone aren’t enough, Leon.”
“So, I need to show you through my actions that I care about this family as much as you do, that I care about our daughters, and I care about…”
Warm breath brushed against Leon’s lips, followed by a soft, tender sensation.
She kissed the corner of his mouth,
“The one I love.”
