Chapter 22: The Conspiracy of the Old Guys
When Mirose woke up, it was already three hours later. When Yuehai and the others saw this young white-robed elemental mage again, they couldn’t help but feel that something fundamental had changed about her.
Laogeri’s conclusion was that she could try applying for the position of Archmage with the magical division inserted within the duchy.
An Archmage under twenty-five years old would undoubtedly become the biggest news in the duchy since Laogeri had slain one hundred thousand bounty targets.
Mirose also expressed her gratitude to Yuehai and even expressed her willingness to follow Yuehai as a personal teacher.
Having an Archmage as a personal teacher is something that even ordinary kingdoms would find it hard to accept, unless it’s for princes or highly-watched prodigies.
Clearly, Yuehai was one of those exceptional individuals, or rather, the so-called geniuses were nothing compared to her. If the Empire were to learn about the existence of such a monstrous triple-attribute prodigy, they would likely dispatch Archmages from the Holy Realm to teach her. If they were willing to spare no expense, they might even seek the guidance of a deity.
Each empire naturally had the presence of deities. After all, these empires had existed for countless years, and to some extent, there were some super geniuses who had become deities in a moment of enlightenment. Some deities who preferred not to take on roles in the divine realm would choose to reside within the borders of the empire.
The ultimate result was naturally Laogeri personally teaching Yuehai. While Mirose could be considered an Archmage, teaching a prodigy like Yuehai was still far from sufficient. Moreover, Mirose had a lot of room for growth, and her own future should not be delayed because of Yuehai. Laogeri also took the opportunity to greet the head of the Elemental Hall, asking them to allocate more resources from the Elemental Hall to Mirose. With luck, the Duke’s residence would soon have another powerhouse in the Holy Realm.
The most important thing, of course, was to keep the talents of Leia and Mirose in secret. Yuehai’s extraordinary talent, if known to other hostile kingdoms, or even to the empire, would lead to forceful recruitment. This was not what Laogeri wanted to see. That night, the old man called Duke Falexis and a few old folks to discuss for the whole night.
The final outcome ended with a single statement from Duke Falexis.
“No one can take away this piece of meat!”
The old men present greatly agreed with this coarse language. They even praised Claude, who managed to recover this treasure, repeatedly. Of course, Claude, who had already gone to bed, was completely unaware.
“The key is how to tie down this piece of meat!” an old man asked. Laogeri snorted in response.
“Isn’t the master-disciple relationship enough?”
“It’s not enough.” A young girl next to Laogeri shook her head with a mature tone.
“Do you remember what happened back then?”
“…That was my carelessness. It won’t happen again this time.” Laogeri seemed touched by the girl’s words, and his confident tone became somewhat weak. The young girl squinted her eyes, sighing.
“Let it go, let it go. It’s my fault. You, old man, are older than all of us combined. Why is your heart so fragile, right, young Falexis?”
“......” The Duke Falexis lying there immediately had black lines all over his head.
“Sis, I think you’ve been more outspoken lately. Although Mr. Laogeri doesn’t speak much, he’s still an elder, after all.”
“Yeah, I remember when little Nicholas was just this small, he used to cling to Mr. Laogeri’s legs all day, saying he wanted to be his bride. Ah, those were the days of innocent little Nicholas…”
“Shut up, you lolicon uncle!”
Nicholas glared at the messy uncle opposite him who exposed his own dark history. He was really annoyed. This guy was notorious for being a lolicon, even though his strength had long reached the level of 【Sealed Emperor】. He wandered around the Duke’s mansion all day, and whenever he saw a little girl, his eyes would light up. Fortunately, whenever this old guy was about to act up, Nicholas would intervene, thanks to the strict discipline maintained by the steward Froia.
Blame it on the fact that the current content broadcasted by Shadowstone is too avant-garde. Anyway, Nicholas, who has long been out of touch with the times, has no understanding of concepts like “cute is justice,” lolicon, or milf-lover. All she knows is that this uncle has been jokingly called the Lolicon Emperor for over a decade, hence why Nicholas keeps calling him a lolicon!
Upon this reflection, it feels like the entire rhythm of the conversation has gone awry.
The old man who initially proposed how to capture the “piece of meat” called Yuehai chuckled as he watched them argue for a while before saying.
“I think love is not bad.”
This statement instantly made everyone’s eyes light up. In an instant, they all turned their gaze towards Duke Falexis. This handsome and mature man seemed to have anticipated such a result long ago. He smiled slightly at this moment, and a few old guys chuckled as well.
In this night, Yuehai’s spine continuously welcomed the chill, making it difficult for him to fall asleep.
Sang Zang Great Forest, the rightfully recognized largest forest under Gabriel’s jurisdiction, is comparable in length to the total of the Vermilion Empire and the Sigril Empire. Its width is enough to accommodate a dozen kingdoms. In this terrifying forest, countless magical creatures and races are hidden, making it the perfect refuge for criminals and the forefront of adventure for adventurers!
At the very edge of the Sang Zang Great Forest, a raggedly dressed young man sat on a pile of grass, holding a stick in his hand, stirring the newly lit fire in front of him.
Suddenly, a roar echoed, signaling the desperate charge of a creature for its prey. Such a deafening howl would even cause courageous humans to momentarily lose their judgment, and that moment could be their eternity!
The creature was a giant bear-like being, its four-meter-tall body capable of toppling trees. It was confident that as long as it touched the human in front of it, dinner would be assured.
However, to its surprise, the initially slender figure, in the blink of an eye, transformed into a massive and furry creature, making it suspect if the person in front of it was disguising themselves as a member of its own kind.
However, when its head thudded onto the ground, it realized that the massive figure was, in fact, itself.
What puzzled it even more was that the weapon used to decapitate it was not a sharp piece of iron but a tree branch commonly found in the forest. Just as fear spread throughout its body, what followed was a realm of darkness, beyond what it could comprehend.
