Chapter 45: Mutation
“Heavenly Sword Unity, Second Form: Extracting Thorn.”
As Tyr’s words fell, an invisible vibration suddenly spread through the air. Although his hand had been resting on the sword without drawing it, a fierce sword aura had already surged toward the Ogre King!
The vibration grew stronger and stronger, everything in its path turning to powder, until it finally enveloped the ogre’s entire body.
Roar!!
Countless white lights burst out from the opponent’s body, not slashing from the outside to the inside, but flying out from the inside to the outside. It was to a degree of terror that Tyr could no longer control.
Seeing this, the Dragon Slayer immediately stood in front of Tyr, releasing her fighting spirit to form a shield. Instantly, a beam of white light struck the shield, causing the Dragon Slayer to squint her eyes.
“So heavy.”
The Dragon Slayer couldn’t help but look at Tyr as if he were a monster. The fact that so much power could be generated with just martial arts and a small amount of fighting spirit was unbelievable, no matter who it was.
“Ah~ I’m really sorry, Miss Dragon Slayer. The second form is still being perfected, so it’s easy to injure oneself. Oh my, thankfully Miss Dragon Slayer is here.”
“… ” The Dragon Slayer instead became somewhat silent, and her gaze towards Tyr changed as well, which made the man, whose strength was almost depleted, feel a chill down his spine.
“What, what’s wrong, Miss Dragon Slayer?”
“No, it’s nothing. I thought you were also like that, but I must have been mistaken.”
“What, what do you mean? Mistaken about what?” The Dragon Slayer’s inexplicable words made Tyr even more uneasy.
The white light gradually dissipated, leaving the ogre riddled with holes after the ten-second-long attack. One can only imagine the mess inside its body. Most would think it couldn’t possibly survive such damage!
However,
“Mwah, mwah, mwah!!!”
It stood up once again, like an undying demon, its eyes glowing red as it emitted a berserk demonic aura.
A black, ribbon-like demonic aura floated around the ogre’s body, and its fatal wounds were visibly healing at an alarming rate under the influence of this aura.
“What’s going on?!” Tyr furrowed his brow. This strike should have been fatal. The Dragon Slayer shook her head and sighed softly. “Didn’t we just talk about how lucky we were earlier? Unfortunately, this fellow not only reached the fifth level of demon, but also just mastered the use of demonic aura.”
“Ugh…” Tyr felt like he had just eaten a fly. This ogre was practically slapping him in the face. It was just a fourth-level demon, yet it had evolved into a fully-fledged fifth-level demon capable of controlling demonic aura. What kind of luck led to this situation?!
“Although it’s obvious, what should we do now?”
“What do you think?” The Dragon Slayer smiled faintly. Tyr nodded without answering. He thought to himself that since she could still smile, it wasn’t time to give up yet. Let’s try harder.
Crackling sounds echoed as the ground suddenly groaned, the previously ravaged terrain starting to crack.
Tyr subconsciously took a step back, widening the gap of the fissure, and said to Dragon Slayer.
“Before this, I had a bad feeling about this.”
“I agree,” the Dragon Slayer nodded, watching the Ogre King nearby pounding its chest and stamping its feet, exchanging a glance with Tyr.
“I heard from the green-haired mercenary that this mountain seems to be three hundred meters tall.”
“Haha, Miss Dragon Slayer, what do you mean by that?” Tyr’s forehead was covered in cold sweat, clearly feigning ignorance, while the Ogre, the only one unaware of the answer, hammered the ground with a final threatening blow.
Boom!
The earth could no longer bear the load, and halfway through cracking, it suddenly burst apart!
Tyr and Dragon Slayer had no time to escape from this suddenly appearing huge hole. With a helpless smile, they fell into the endless dark abyss together with the enormous monster.
Boom!
The sound of the ogre successfully landing spread throughout the cave. Countless stones buried its massive body alive. At the same time, two figures darted out from it without saying a word, quickly leaving this troubled place behind and rushing towards the darkness within.
“Well, life is full of surprises. Who would have thought that inside such solid and robust mountains lies a shoddy, hollow structure?” Tyr shrugged helplessly. Even though the two of them were still running at full speed, the threat of the ogre diminished significantly as they distanced themselves. Dragon Slayer also responded to Tyr’s playful remark.
“Isn’t this the land of your Gabriel Continent? Look at how shoddy this natural formation is. I can only imagine how much worse the man-made structures would be. If it weren’t for me using the [Heart Armor] to withstand the impact of the descent and the falling debris, we would have been dead long before.”
“Haha, you’re absolutely right. But your [Heart Armor] move is really impressive. Even attacks like those of the ogre couldn’t harm you in the slightest.”
“Likewise, the Heaven Sword Unity technique has also broadened my horizons.”
Dragon Slayer and Tyr exchanged a glance, then smiled once again. It was a comforting smile, like that of true companions.
