Chapter 47: First Battle
“Hey, old man, you don’t need to say that. If luck really does save my life, I’ll come and kowtow to you three times. But that’s impossible. Even if I die, I won’t be saved by so-called luck,” Dragon Slayer declared confidently. Leilindor chuckled but remained silent as he inspected the most important magic patterns in the room. Then, he turned to everyone and asked a question.
“Is everyone ready?”
Except for Neruko and Constantine, no one else responded. It wasn’t that they weren’t ready, but silence was their best answer.
“So, let the selection begin!”
As soon as Leilindor finished speaking, the entire space suddenly spun around, and in the next moment, their gaze was filled with a world unlike their own.
This world had pristine forests and scorching sun, with massive beasts roaming the ground. However, these were not magical creatures, so they weren’t difficult to kill. A huge lake divided the forest in half, with Tyr and the others positioned on this side of the lakeshore.
“Alright, with the result of the draw, Wind Slash Ghost, you’re the first to enter. You can now intervene in the real world. Move quickly.”
Reminded by Leilindor, Wind Slash Ghost immediately became serious. He nodded slightly to Tyr and then cautiously rushed towards the forest at the edge of the lake.
On the other side, Leilindor also spoke.
“With the result of the draw, Butterfly of Sunflowers, you’re the first to enter. You can now intervene in the real world. Move quickly.”
“Butterfly of Sunflowers, it’s up to you now,” Dragon Slayer said solemnly. This statement made Butterfly of Sunflowers feel as if a heavy responsibility was placed upon her. She thought to herself that as long as she didn’t encounter Mr. Tyr, giving it her all should be possible.
Moreover, Mr. Tyr’s actions are indeed reprehensible to women, which is also a small act of rebellion from the Butterfly of Sunflowers against Tyr.
The Butterfly of Sunflowers was very fast. When both of them entered the forest, their formidable perceptions clashed immediately.
“So, this familiar perception… I see. Little Butterfly, we are enemies this time, and that’s just fine! Let me show you who’s really Tyr’s number one lackey!”
Wind Slash Ghost’s roar echoed throughout the entire forest, frightening many birds and beasts into hastily fleeing. Outside the forest, Tyr couldn’t help but feel like covering his face. Wind Slash Ghost was good at everything, except he was too servile. Tyr never asked any of the three to be his followers, but they all listened obediently, especially Wind Slash Ghost. Usually, he was so obedient that he might as well have grown a tail on his backside and become a hunting dog.
However, upon hearing the sound, Butterfly of Sunflowers was instead spurred on with determination. Her powerful perception immediately spread out, and a five-meter-tall beast blocking her path was instantly pierced through. Swiping the blood off her cross sword, Butterfly of Sunflowers continued charging towards Wind Slash Ghost.
Both of them were incredibly fast, and it seemed they would collide in the next moment.
However, just when Butterfly of Sunflowers thought they were about to engage in direct combat, Wind Slash Ghost’s perception suddenly vanished without a trace.
Butterfly of Sunflowers immediately halted her steps and looked around, but she couldn’t find Wind Slash Ghost’s true whereabouts.
“Come out, Wind Slash Ghost, I know you’re hiding here.
Butterfly of Sunflower’s words didn’t elicit any response from Wind Slash Ghost. At this moment, he was hiding in a patch of bushes, his eyes resembling those of a cheetah, firmly fixed on Butterfly of Sunflowers.
“Jokes aside, his true profession is a rogue. Why should he engage in battles that are as upfront as those of a knight? Walking in the darkness and killing silently is Wind Slash Ghost’s style.”
“Haha, I didn’t expect Mr. Tyr’s top lackey to be such a coward. He can’t even show his face when confronted by a woman’s taunts. It’s really laughable.”
Wind Slash Ghost clicked his tongue slightly, but his expression remained unchanged throughout. He adjusted his emotions to blend in with the surrounding forest, making it impossible for Butterfly of Sunflowers to detect him with her perception.
“I’ll make you cry for your mommy later,” Wind Slash Ghost muttered to himself. He hadn’t expected the Butterfly of Sunflowers to provoke him as well. Thinking back to the time when she still regarded him and Shating Iron Sword as seniors, he couldn’t help but feel sentimental.
“So, let’s begin.”
Wind Slash Ghost muttered softly to himself, then deliberately leaked a hint of his perception. Butterfly of Sunflowers immediately noticed it and without hesitation thrust her cross sword towards the hidden forest where Wind Slash Ghost was hiding. However, by this time, Wind Slash Ghost had already shifted.
Gotcha!
A sense of alarm rang inexplicably in the Butterfly of Sunflower’s mind. Without waiting to confirm, she turned around and thrust again. However, Wind Slash Ghost, who had already approached, faced this attack fearlessly. His body suddenly refracted, executing the first bend of Tyr’s myriad bending techniques.
The Butterfly of Sunflowers was greatly surprised and turned pale. In fact, from a distance, Wind Slash Ghost’s refraction didn’t seem particularly strange, but only those who fought against him would realize the difficulty and cunningness involved.
Butterfly of Sunflowers, however, wouldn’t be startled by such a sudden refraction without reacting. On the contrary, she immediately stepped back, slashing a white light blade with her cross sword as she retreated.
Wind Slash Ghost couldn’t help but smirk. The current situation had tilted in his favor, and if he could inflict damage on Butterfly of Sunflowers in this round, then it would be time for the hunter to become the hunted. Determined in his heart, Wind Slash Ghost once again employed his bending technique. However, the white light blade passed by him unscathed, grazing his body without deviation. With this, Butterfly of Sunflowers found herself in a vulnerable position, her old strength fading while her new strength had yet to emerge, leaving her susceptible to Wind Slash Ghost’s single strike that could cause irreparable damage.
However, what worried him was whether his current form would cause harm in the real world. If he accidentally injured Butterfly of Sunflowers, neither he nor Mr. Tyr would have a good time. Butterfly of Sunflowers noticed his hesitation, which truly infuriated her, adding to her already somber mood.
This Wind Slash Ghost fellow actually dared to hold back! Thinking he could really win against her!
Butterfly of Sunflowers was now angry and didn’t care whether Wind Slash Ghost would strike her. Gripping her cross sword tightly, she released a fierce sword aura that swept out in all directions!
Roar~ Instinctively sensing the fear of death, beasts fled in all directions, causing the entire forest to seem as if it were trembling.
On the other side, Dragon Slayer also sensed this fierce sword aura. Initially, he thought it was Tyr taking the lead in battle, which made him slightly uneasy. However, upon closer inspection, he realized it wasn’t the case. While this sword’s intent was indeed terrifying, it lacked the essence compared to Tyr’s technique. Even the current Tyr, let alone back when they first met while besieging the ogres, was slightly stronger than Butterfly of Sunflower’s current move.
