Chapter 5: Rejection
“This is Miss Neruko Stinberg from the Firio Duchy,” Damiyala introduced Angel and Yuehai while Neruko was having lunch.
With her deep red shoulder-length hair, Neruko quickly stood up and said.
“Oh! That… I remember Miss Angel, Miss Yuehai, and Miss Damiyala!”
“Miss Neruko, hello,” after Angel and Yuehai greeted her, Damiyala continued.
“Miss Neruko is a mixed-blood of Vermilion and Imperial descent, with natural flexibility in her body and a strong affinity for elements. I remember Miss Neruko has a fiery constitution of the fire attribute, right?”
“Yes! I didn’t expect Damiyala to know so much. Also, I may be a noble, but I don’t like all those formalities. If you don’t mind, just call me Neruko.”
The three nodded slightly, Neruko chuckled, then pointed to the man beside her and said.
“This is my servant, Zamasia, from the Seven Star tribe.”
Although Zamasia was wearing a suit, his dark complexion and the bone spikes hanging from his ears, along with some facial tattoos, gave Yuehai a sense of an exotic ethnicity.
“May the great Seven Stars bless you, ladies,” Zamasia bowed slightly, and the others nodded in response.
Neruko put her hands on her hips and then asked.
“So, what are you going to do next?”
“Hehe, of course, we’re going to meet other people,” Damiyala replied, and Neruko nodded without hesitation.
“Then I’ll go with you guys too.”
“That’s great.”
“By the way, does this count as forming a small group before enrollment?” Neruko’s question made the others exchange glances, and eventually Damiyala answered.
“Gathering together before entering an unfamiliar environment is very beneficial for our future college life.”
In fact, everyone knew this. When Damiyala initially came to find them, Yuehai already knew why she had come.
Getting to know each other was secondary; the main thing was to gather a circle of acquaintances so that they wouldn’t feel isolated when they arrived at the academy.
Although the thought was somewhat dark, it was an undeniable fact. Bullying and oppression existed everywhere. Those who had been in the academy for a long time often saw newcomers who claimed to be senior students.
Angel naturally shared this idea. While Neruko also noticed it, she didn’t keep it to herself like others but spoke openly about it. This was good in a way; at least there wouldn’t be as many groundless suspicions as before.
“I see. So who do we need to get to know next?”
“Hmm, Miss Jinlisi is indeed talented, but she’s a bit impatient, so let’s leave it for later. As for Princess Xuelian, it goes without saying. Some of the participants who achieved high rankings in other competitions also couldn’t make it to the train for various reasons, so for now, it’s just the four of us.”
“Well, I think Miss Jinlisi is not bad,” Neruko said bluntly, and everyone’s gaze turned towards her. She raised her chin slightly with her hand and continued.
“It’s just that sometimes she can be a bit impatient. Do you guys know that sometimes she shows a very lonely look in her eyes?”
“What does a lonely look mean? Why are you observing others so closely when you have nothing else to do?” Yuehai couldn’t help but think to herself. Could it be that Miss Neruko, you have other hobbies?
“So, Neruko, do you mean we should go and meet Miss Jinlisi?”
“Yes.”
“I have no objections.” Facing Damiyala’s inquiring gaze, Yuehai responded with an indifferent attitude. Although she had a slight conflict with Jinlisi before, it wasn’t to the extent of tearing each other’s faces apart or feeling particularly jealous.
Angel naturally wouldn’t have any objections. Perhaps she was the most easygoing among the four.
“Hello, Miss Jinlisi,” Damiyala was still the first to speak. The girl with golden hair didn’t seem to be in a good mood. When she saw Yuehai, her face suddenly darkened. While Jinlisi had seemed like she owed someone a few hundred coins before, now it felt like she owed someone millions of coins.
Yuehai pondered, wondering if she had done anything to deserve such animosity. She glanced back at the graceful and confident warrior, Mo Qingting, who responded with a faint smile. Yuehai couldn’t discern any problem from her smile, so she could only wait and see.
“Hello, Miss Damiyala, what is this you’re doing…”
Damiyala had never intended to personally get to know Jinlisi, and now seeing the other girl still wearing a sour expression, her tone naturally lacked the previous politeness.
“Let’s get to know each other, after all, we’ll be entering Avalon Academy soon. You wouldn’t want to be isolated and helpless, would you?”
“......” Jinlisi sneered coldly and shook her head.
“No need. It’s fine to get to know each other, but I prefer others flattering me when it comes to forming groups. You’re not going to follow behind me, right? So let’s just skip it.”
“I see. That’s a shame,” Damiyala’s tone was noticeably colder, but she maintained courtesy. As for Yuehai and the others, who hadn’t spoken a word from start to finish, the atmosphere became somewhat tense.
