Chapter 64: Ye Xi VS Tyr & Yuehai
The whole arena fell silent. In a battle against a celestial being, although they were geniuses from various places and had the tremendous perseverance to overcome terrifying trials, there was still a considerable gap between them and those who could fly in the sky like celestial beings.
“Yongye shook his head slightly, disappointed by the students’ reactions. He lay back down, his black cat body against Ye Xi’s abdomen, then pointed at Tyr with a paw and said.
“You, come down!”
“Me?” Tyr couldn’t believe it because just earlier, Teacher Cat had seemed to agree with his answer. Why did he still need to come down?
“Yongye’s tail swayed back and forth a few times, showing clear dissatisfaction.”
“That’s why you kids are so difficult to deal with. What, are you so unwilling to come down and fight a battle with a Flower Vase?”
“Since Yongye didn’t mention any conditions for expulsion, it meant it was just a simple battle. This reassured Tyr, and after heaved a sigh of relief, he quickly bounced off his seat and came down.”
“Teacher, I’ve come down. So, what should we do now? Shall we have a fight?” Tyr spoke honestly. By now, Tyr was starting to understand Teacher Cat’s attitude a bit. Although his temper seemed fickle, he didn’t like it when others disobeyed his commands. Many of the rules were unclear to them on their first day as new students, so naturally, they would run into trouble with Teacher Cat. Like Ye Xi, who directly opposed him, faced the consequences, although they didn’t seem too severe.
As for fighting against himself as Tyr and as Yuehai, although it would test the limits of his multitasking skills, Tyr was confident he could play the part well. After all, superficially, being Tyr seemed to have the upper hand. Winning by a small margin would be enough. However, if he ended up hitting himself as Yuehai too hard, Tyr feared he might be cornered by the fan club rushing to the school gate upon hearing the news.
“Yongye, seeing the decisiveness of the other party, nodded in satisfaction.”
“I’ve changed my mind. Having you two fight won’t show any results. Ye Xi, you spar with them.”
“Eh?”
“So, it’s two against one?”
“Tyr couldn’t help but furrow his brow. Did Yongye imply that he was weaker than Ye Xi?”
“Suddenly, there was a hint of dissatisfaction.”
“Diaz and Claude, Tyr’s tablemates, exchanged a glance. Both of them were interested in this battle, although Claude still had some concerns about Yuehai.”
“Wind Slash Ghost and the others were equally unhappy. It was clear that Tyr was being underestimated, which for them was a great humiliation. Tyr was an exceptional individual. Among the warriors of the same age group, there was hardly anyone who could match him in combat. Not even Diaz, who was as formidable as an abyss, could compare!”
“Arena, Leia, and Gui Dongri sat together. Although Leia disliked Tyr, she still hoped that Tyr could protect Yuehai from being hurt by Ye Xi. This conflicting feeling made her expression very vivid. As for the Wind Spirit, besides quietly cheering Tyr on, she didn’t have any other thoughts.”
“Yongye, paying no attention to the students’ individual thoughts, leaped lightly onto the top of Ye Xi’s head, where her white hair cascaded. He comfortably nestled down.”
“Alright, this is the arena. The surrounding area activates a Qi magic overflow interception system. Even if someone gets knocked back, they’ll be blocked by this system. To put it simply, it’s like there’s invisible glass around this competition platform. That’s the gist of it. Let’s use combat for actual teaching.”
Yongye gently tapped Ye Xi’s head with his paw.
“Alright, White-Haired Witch, it’s time for you to stand up. Remember to fight with all your might. After all, these two aren’t opponents you can handle with just the right attitude.”
“White-Haired Witch…” Even Ye Xi felt a bit hurt, but under the supreme authority of this cat, she could only reluctantly stand up and walk slowly to the competition platform. She drew the short knife from her waist and looked at Tyr and Yuehai without saying a word.
“Attack them! Flower Vase and Mask are obviously still seeking my opinion. If you don’t strike first, do you want to wait until you’re beaten to act?”
“Seemingly spurred by Yongye’s words, the next moment Ye Xi swiftly rushed towards Tyr and Yuehai with an incredible serpent-like agility, wielding her blade.”
“Yuehai was greatly surprised, inwardly criticizing Teacher Cat for this being a violation. Since it’s a competition platform, there should have been a readiness signal before fighting. Such a sudden sneak attack was unfair.”
“Even as Ye Xi moved at lightning speed, with Teacher Cat lying on her head, he remained unwavering, leisurely saying.
“Remember, in battle, it’s not about manners, but about how you can win this fight.”
“At this moment, Tyr and Yuehai had already entered Ye Xi’s kill zone. With a sudden swing of her short blade, Tyr raised his sword to block, and immediately, a dazzling flash of swords erupted between them.”
“Upon contact with her opponent, Ye Xi’s brows furrowed deeply. With a slight shake of her strength, Tyr was sent flying several meters away.”
“This is where the gap in experience lies. Mask, due to having only Qi Harmony, must absolutely avoid direct confrontation with other warriors above the Breaker level. Like just now, White-Haired Witch only used a little force to send Mask flying. This is also due to the cautious nature of White-Haired Witch. If she were to unleash her strongest Qi power in one go, just like that last strike, Mask would have been defeated.”
“At this moment, Yuehai had already seized the opportunity created by Ye Xi’s separation from Tyr, and in the blink of an eye, he pierced forward. With his knight sword imbued with fiery magic properties, his attack was excellent, causing even Yongye’s eyes to light up slightly, considering that this Flower Vase student wasn’t as much of a Flower Vase as imagined.”
“However, Yongye was unaware that Tyr and Yuehai shared a single consciousness. Their tactics were seamless, and their cooperation was flawless. Tyr’s deliberate show of weakness earlier was precisely to set up this strike.”
“Ye Xi furrowed her brow slightly. This sword thrust was too perfect, exactly when her old strength was fading and new strength had yet to emerge. It was as if the knight sword, poised to ignite the entire space, was slowly approaching her.”
“Distance, one meter.”
Thud~
“At that moment, a muffled sound echoed in the classroom. Then, the distance between Yuehai’s knight sword, which was about to reach Ye Xi, was suddenly increased to one meter. Seizing this opportunity, Ye Xi swiftly retreated, evading Yuehai’s strike.”
“Oh~ So this is your unique magic, White-Haired Witch? Space compression and expansion. And from the looks of it, it seems it’s not limited to just one point. Impressive, impressive, very promising.”
“Ye Xi had to admit, as a rogue, having a chatty cat perched on her head had thrown her off balance. If she thought carefully, there might have been a better way to respond just now, but it was the gaze and chatter of this cat that caused her to make a mistake.”
