Chapter 70: Benefits
When Zamiyah led Yuehai to the third floor, a young man who looked no more than eighteen or nineteen appeared before them.
From the looks of it, he had just come out of the president’s office, with a confident smile lingering on his lips, making it hard to forget. It wasn’t until he approached Yuehai that she remembered who he was.
Scarlett Tifimia. The man who had a dispute with Claude on the special train at that time, but was subdued by the administrators later on.
The other party naturally recognized Yuehai at a glance; after all, she was so beautiful, there was no reason not to remember her.
“Madam Zamiyah.” Scarlett’s smile remained as she nodded slightly towards Zamiyah, who returned the gesture with a nod and then said, “How are things with what you discussed with Ku?”
“Mmm, although it’s really tempting, I still need to consider it.” Scarlett pretended to be troubled, then looked at Yuehai again. “This student, if I
remember correctly… your name is Yuehai, right? What a coincidence to meet in the student union.”
Yuehai didn’t respond, or rather, her expression remained unchanged, as if Scarlett didn’t exist at all. This reaction made Scarlett casually shrug his shoulders.
“It seems that our little goddess on the train is annoyed. Oh dear, this is troublesome. After all, the more a woman hates me, the more I want to conquer her.”
Unabashedly greedy eyes shot from Scarlett ‘s eyes, finally causing a slight furrow in Yuehai’s brow. She was about to speak in response when Zamiyah preemptively said.
“Scarlett, is there anything else?”
Although Zamiyah didn’t deliberately release her aura, the mere pressure caused this formerly arrogant playboy to retract his smile and take a step back, standing aside.
“It’s nothing. Lady Zamiyah, please go with Yuehai first.”
“Okay.” Zamiyah nodded slightly, glanced at Yuehai, then proceeded towards the president’s office. Yuehai followed behind, but as she passed by, she noticed Scarlett giving her a menacing smile.
“Someday, I’ll make you climax in bed!”
Yuehai walked past Scarlett expressionlessly and without hesitation. Scarlett slightly turned his head to glance at Yuehai’s back, chuckling to himself, then descended the stairs.
Yuehai didn’t have a good impression of that person, whether it was his current tone or the actions he took on the train. However, compared to Claude’s directness, it was evident that this person was not to be underestimated. Despite appearing as a playboy, he possessed extraordinary strength, truly a peculiar existence.
So, what does “high tide” mean?
When Zamiyah led Yuehai into the president’s office, what appeared before their eyes was an ancient-style redwood building. Whether it was the desk, bookshelves, or flower pots, they were all organized mainly in shades of deep red. If everything were crimson at first glance, it might be very tiring to look at. However, in this office, the combination of potted plants and floor-to-ceiling windows was very cleverly done. Behind the office desk, the huge transparent glass allowed a clear view of pedestrians on the street. The noon sunlight spilled down, casting the floor into a golden hue, which looked very warm. In fact, the weather in July wasn’t even at its hottest yet. Although it couldn’t be considered dazzling, it still made people feel very comfortable basking in it.
The president with long purple hair sat behind her desk, her hands interlocked with elbows as support, her arms raised upright. Her expression was calm yet as still as stagnant water.
Having already noticed the arrival of Yuehai and the others, the president took a full minute of contemplation before turning his gaze to Yuehai and then smiling. “Hello, Yuehai, my fellow student.”
“Hello, Madam President.”
“No need to be reserved. I called you here for a reason. Let’s get straight to the point. I want you to join the Student Council.” President Ku smiled as usual, but he casually dropped a bombshell. Yuehai thought she misheard, and she couldn’t help but freeze for several seconds before realizing her own reaction.
“President, I…”
“No worries. I wasn’t any better than you when I first joined. Anyway, I don’t like beating around the bush. Just give me your answer.” The president crossed her arms, leaning back in her chair, her graceful figure becoming apparent in this position.
Yuehai hesitated for a while. After all, joining the student council meant serving the students, right? And from a freshman’s perspective, she would already be busy with the monthly assessments and class competitions. Maybe she should pass on this seemingly busy organization.
Seeing Yuehai hesitate to answer, the stern president seemed to see through her, and she spoke lightly.
“You see, I don’t really need you to do anything right now. In your first year, you’ll just have your name on the student council. The second year is when things really start. And being on the student council doesn’t mean you have to serve anyone. In many ways, the student council provides its members with conveniences. Besides, haven’t you heard of the reputation of being part of the student council? It’s quite prestigious. Even those who may envy your beauty will think twice before crossing you.”
Yuehai was somewhat stunned by the president’s words. This president… seemed a bit different from what she had imagined. She appeared more relaxed and carefree, and she didn’t hesitate to exercise her authority over the student council. Was it because she was young and didn’t hold back her words?
Obviously not. Being able to hold this position amidst the influence of the Vermilion Bird Empire, the Sigril Empire, and Avalon Academy, it was clear that this president couldn’t be mediocre. Moreover, the president’s words were indeed appealing, touching on the key point: Yuehai was too busy in her first year and didn’t want to join the student council at the moment. The president saw through this clearly. She didn’t need you to come in and immediately do something; she just wanted you to have your name on the list. Then, when you became available next year, she could start assigning tasks. This approach ensured that personnel wouldn’t immediately leave. After all, as long as someone’s name was on the list for a year, anything could happen. But if even that wasn’t committed to, then even if the person suddenly became available, they wouldn’t have any obligation to the council.
“Your answer? Yuehai, it seems you’re the type who won’t act without knowing the practical benefits. Let me tell you, just by joining our student council, you can obtain a military artifact. Promoting to secretary grants you a national treasure, while becoming a vice president or vice secretary-general allows you to observe a sacred artifact. If needed, we can even let you personally use it to experience its mysteries. Lucky ones might even comprehend martial arts or magic from it.”
Observing or even using a sacred artifact!
This statement struck Yuehai like thunder, sending shivers down her spine. Her mind buzzed, unable to believe that the sacred artifact she had been desperately searching for was right in front of her.
