Chapter 93: Retaliation
Threat! This was a blatant threat. Although Angel’s voice remained steady, the implication in her words was unmistakably a threat. Tyr couldn’t help but feel a headache at the thought of Dragon Slayer finding out about today’s events. Perhaps serving as a shield for Angel here would be better than many other options.
“Alright, alright, Angel, you win. Let’s go. Just tell me how to get out.”
Tyr, admitting defeat, no longer hesitated. He just wanted to end this farce as soon as possible.
Angel was also quick to act, without pausing she walked straight out the door.
It was raining heavily outside, but Tyr didn’t mind getting wet. Angel, on the other hand, cast a spell to shield herself from the dripping rainwater.
“Attack anyone who tries to stop us as we leave.”
“Simple and violent, huh? Alright, but don’t blame me if I can’t handle Emperor-level opponents.” Tyr shrugged, though he seemed ready to run at any moment, he followed Angel without hesitation.
“Emperor-level isn’t something easily attained,” Angel shook her head slightly.
“The difference between the Broken Army level and the Emperor level is like heaven and earth, and the transition between the two is not solely determined by the quantity of fighting spirit.”
“I heard that those at the Emperor level can fly in the sky.” Tyr had seen many strong individuals flying in the sky, and they generally wouldn’t interfere with matters involving Broken Army level fighting spirit. Angel nodded slightly.
“Flying in the sky is just one characteristic, but the main thing is that their fighting spirit can mobilize the surrounding heaven and earth, rather than being stored within their own bodies.”
“It’s certainly convenient, but unfortunately, it doesn’t have much to do with me,” Tyr chuckled self-deprecatingly. He was still at a lower level of Qi, and when he might be able to fly in the sky was still unknown. At this rate, it might not even happen in his lifetime.
Angel glanced at Tyr, and as they walked out of an alley onto a sparsely populated street, she couldn’t help but speak up.
“Your martial arts talent is extremely rare, but your fighting spirit talent is terribly inferior.”
Tyr’s heart trembled, feeling the pain of being spoken to, which had been his recent source of great distress. Seeing Diaz Claude and even several of his followers’ fighting spirits growing stronger and stronger while he remained stagnant, it was discomforting no matter how you looked at it.
At the same time, several figures wearing masks suddenly appeared. Without a word, they attacked Angel, their intentions clear. Angel didn’t pause her steps, seemingly ignoring them. Tyr sighed inwardly, bending down to pick up a tree branch. With a swift movement, he closed in on the attackers and directly wounded one of them. Although the injury was severe enough to render the attacker unconscious, it wasn’t fatal. Before the others could react, Tyr had already taken them down. Discarding the tree branch as if nothing had happened, he walked alongside Angel as if nothing had occurred.
“Speaking of which, where did these people come from? They dare to show off their fighting spirit. Are they trying to test us?”
Tyr couldn’t help but feel puzzled. After all, all of the attackers earlier were at the Broken Army level. Swarming to attack a Level Three Mage might have a chance of success, but facing Tyr was a different story altogether.
Angel nodded slightly.
“Most likely it’s a test.”
“Oh… but are you familiar with this place?” Tyr asked subconsciously. He always felt that Angel had an inexplicable familiarity with their surroundings. However, the icy girl didn’t answer the question. Her expression was always so calm, as if nothing could ever disturb her.
The two of them walked to the end of the main street and turned towards another corner. Past this point was the station for the flying trains. Nobody dared to act recklessly at the station. Those who had tried in the past had met unfortunate ends.
At that moment, a group of menacing individuals appeared behind Tyr. Unlike the earlier masked assailants, these ones looked fierce and directly targeted Tyr with their gazes.
“It seems they’re looking for you,” Angel remarked, noting that the group’s focus was solely on Tyr. The masked man shrugged, indicating his awareness of the newcomers’ origins. Given that some of the thugs who had cut in line earlier were among them, they were likely reinforcements from that “Blue Sky Society.”
“Kid, do you regret it now?” The leader of the Blue Sky Society was a man with unusual hair, sporting sunglasses. Although his eyes were hidden, the slight tilt of his head betrayed his contemptuous expression.
Tyr sighed inwardly. Why were there so many arrogant people? In truth, for most fighters, this situation would be perilous. The leader of the Blue Sky Society held considerable influence in the Magic District. Any provocation here could lead to dire consequences.
“By the way, are there any academies in the Magic District?” Tyr asked Angel.
“Yes, and both the 31st and 32nd freshman classes are here,” Angel replied calmly. This revelation widened Tyr’s eyes. In such a chaotic Magic District, these freshmen would likely face suppression the moment they stepped out. Under such pressure, many might consider dropping out.
The leader of the Blue Sky Society, feeling ignored, took a deep breath.
“I know you’re skilled, but not every skilled person can defeat hundreds of fists. Your composure in the face of such a multitude of people intrigues me.”
Tyr glanced at the leader, then turned to Angel and said, “Wait for me.”
Angel nodded, halting her steps. Tyr then turned around and asked, “How many people did you bring?”
“Twenty-seven people, you should know that even a Sky Emperor would feel a headache seeing this number, let alone the fact that apart from me, there are five upper-level Broken Army members. Li Guohong, who you defeated earlier, is only a middle-level Broken Army. You should consider yourself lucky, after all, you encountered it.”
Before the leader could finish speaking, Tyr turned back to Angel and asked, “Angel, can you wait for me for half a minute?”
Angel thought for a moment and finally said, “Twenty seconds.”
“Alright, alright.” Tyr scratched his head, intending to slack off a bit, but little did he know that Angel was even harder to fool than he had imagined.
So Tyr drew the Enchanter from his waist and said to the group of people in front of him, “That’s it. To hurry along, please don’t move around. Let me deal with you within twenty seconds.”
“Just you?!” The leader sneered, but in the next moment, the figure had already disappeared from his sight. What followed was the continuous screams of people appearing behind him. With each strike, those at the Qi and Emperor levels were instantly killed, and even those at the Breaker level were defeated after a brief resistance. Tyr swept through like a hungry wolf entering a sheep pen, wielding the black light incessantly. Every slash would bring someone down. The five upper-level Breakers wanted to rescue, but Tyr’s speed was simply too fast, so fast that they couldn’t even use their naked eyes to identify. Most crucially, there was the eerie refraction weaving through the crowd, as if the sunlight distorted by a mirror, able to inexplicably utilize refraction from all directions to evade. The leader was deeply shocked, watching his subordinates fall one by one. His heart trembled incessantly. Is this the warrior who fought so valiantly against a mid-level Breaker? Who the hell said that!
The Middle-ranked Broken Army is simply not his match at all!
He got it all wrong, mistakenly believing that sheer numbers could overwhelm everything. But in the presence of true strength, numbers merely prolong the time until the inevitable harvest.
