None of these witches are decent V1C18

Chapter 18: You are genuinely incomparably wise

Outside the log cabin, Lilian was using a machete to fell a tree, then splitting it into appropriately sized pieces of wood. She thought the cabin was a bit small and needed a slight expansion. However, she suddenly stopped her work and headed back into the house.

“Lady Moluna, what’s wrong?” Lilian asked, seeing Moluna had accidentally knocked over the cup in her hand.

Luckily, Lilian had prepared wooden cups, so Moluna wasn’t injured. She had always been very friendly to witches because she understood the significance of witches being born in the Dual-Color Realm.

The Ten Sages introduced Travelers to deal with the Outsiders, but at the same time, the Dual-Color Realm itself wasn’t without its measures.

With the rampant power of the Outsiders, witches emerged. Their power stems from the Dual-Color Realm, vastly different from the Outsiders’, capable of causing a significant impact on the side of the Outsiders.

Unfortunately, the number of witches didn’t decrease due to the Outsiders but rather because they were killed by those who worshiped the Outsiders.

Like strength, the power of witches also needs to grow, and this process is long, arduous, and unpredictable. Young witches who haven’t matured have no means of resistance against the surging malice that approaches. Not only are there external factors, but the process of a witch’s growth itself is prone to uncontrollable outbreaks and can lead to death after turning into “Black Mud.”

Therefore, Lilian believed that any surviving witch should be protected. That’s why Lilian expressed gratitude to Ron, who saved Moluna.

Lilian righted the cup, patiently drying the water stains around it. Finally, the only thing left was to change Moluna from the clothes soaked in water.

With hollow eyes, Moluna murmured, “Ron… Lord Ron… in danger…”

Lilian was surprised to hear Moluna speak after breaking free from the Black Mud state.

Could a witch freed from the Black Mud state regain consciousness?

“Lady Moluna, who is in danger?” Lilian asked instinctively.

“Lord Ron is in danger!” Moluna furrowed her cute little brow and suddenly stood up.

Seeing Moluna about to rush towards the door, Lilian quickly grabbed her.

“I’ll take you to find him. Just stay calm,” Lilian said.

However, she overestimated Moluna’s current level of consciousness. Moluna simply couldn’t hear what she was saying.

Helplessly, Lilian had to restrain Moluna to prevent any chaos forcibly. Initially, she had no intention of assisting Ron, wanting to see to what extent this time traveler could rely on himself. However, the situation has changed now.

Lilian pinched her skirt and said calmly, “Miss Moluna, please rest assured. I will take you to find him.”

On Ron’s thirtieth or so departure, a snow-white squirrel blocked his path. The squirrel’s eyes were filled with humanity, and Ron found it hard to imagine seeing such a look in a squirrel’s eyes. He even imagined that he wasn’t facing a squirrel but a child.

The squirrel snorted with its nose and then turned and started to trot away. Ron didn’t know what the squirrel was showing off about, but he followed anyway. He wasn’t in a rush either; the footprints on the ground were very clear, so he wouldn’t lose track. However, as he followed the squirrel, he noticed that the scenery on both sides was no longer the same. He had been wandering around this area for a long time so that he could discern the changes in his surroundings.

For instance, he had never seen a clinic here before or seen the streetlights bent down.

The oil on the streetlights had dried up, and the lampshades were covered in cracks resembling spider webs. There were more ice sculptures than Ron had seen before, facing the opposite direction from where he came, indicating they were avoiding something.

“Are you guiding me?” Ron muttered to himself.

He suddenly realized that the squirrel’s unusual behavior might lead him somewhere.

But why would it be leading him?

In his confusion, a streak of aurora appeared before Ron’s eyes.

On the hand of an ice sculpture lay an unfolded scroll, the source of the aurora. Unlike the other ice sculptures, this one depicted a young, strong man bare-chested, with an angry face on the left side of his chest.

It resembled a lion’s and a human’s face, with colors inconsistent with skin tone, more like a rock. The snow-white squirrel crouched in front of the ice sculpture, lifted its head, and gestured with its claws.

“System, what is this?” Ron slowed his pace, not approaching immediately.

However, the system, which usually responded immediately, took several seconds this time to react.

[Warning: there are multiple high-energy reactions nearby. Please be mindful of your safety.].

Ron looked around suspiciously, unsure whether the high-energy reactions referred to the ice sculptures or the scroll emitting the aurora.

[There are offspring of evil gods detected in the ice sculptures. You are unable to defeat them at this time. Please retreat.].

[The system repeats, please retreat.].

“First, tell me, what is that scroll?” Ron gazed at the scroll and spoke.

“That is a magical scroll that reduces the activity of evil gods in the vicinity.”

“So, this is the magic borrowed by the mayor.”

“How can I dispel this magic?”

“It’s not advisable to dispel this magic. Doing so will release the offspring of evil gods in the surroundings.”

“As a system created by the Ten Sages, it wouldn’t recommend Ron to terminate this magic.”

“Am I to wait here and die like this my whole life?”

“Answer: Your choice is remarkably wise.”

“?” Ron felt deeply puzzled.

But he realized he wasn’t surprised by the system’s response.

“You promised to make me the strongest on the surface, didn’t you?”

“You’re just trapped in a prison of time; you won’t die.”

“During this time of being trapped, the system is confident it can make you the strongest on the surface.”

“Such an environment is perfect; you won’t encounter any accidents and can fully become the strongest step by step.”

“When you’re capable of dealing with these offspring of the Outsiders, the system will remind you to dispel the magic.”

Ron listened to the system’s words, and question marks hovered over his head. Suddenly, something happened in his line of sight, which typically took a dozen seconds. He cursed at the system and reached out to take down the magical scroll, tearing it into two halves on the spot.

The moment the magical scroll was torn, the ice sculpture in front of him came to life, and the evil god on its chest gained lava-like patterns.

“Traveler, please leave this place and preserve the spark for your future.”
