Chapter 28: We Usually Don’t Sleep
After having dinner, Ron settled in front of the fireplace. His injuries had mostly recovered under the magical dragon breath of the dragon maid. Though Ron still creaked when he moved, at least it wasn’t painful. But healing didn’t erase Ron’s lingering fatigue from his experiences in Everwinter.
“What a warm place,” he sincerely remarked, his eyes almost closing.
The frozen town lacked vitality, making it oppressive to stay. However, living in a large mansion now, there’s no sense of oppression. He tossed a log into the fireplace, eagerly anticipating his future. Capturing and eliminating the mastermind, Miss Mercury’s estate was now inescapable. Even if he becomes a rural lord, he can do as he pleases.
He’s decided to be the tyrant of this otherworld, and no one should think of stopping him.
“Hehehehehe!” He emitted a villainous laugh.
He’s not a great person. His ideal is to be the spirit hanging by the chandelier.
Just thinking about this made him happy.
The saying “bitter first, sweet later” applies even in another world.
He’s already looking forward to what kind of territory Miss Mercury will reward him with.
“Lord Ron, drink some water,” Moluna walked over with a cup as Ron immersed himself in his grand plans.
“Hmm? Thanks.” Ron subconsciously took the cup, “What is this?”
“Plain water,” Moluna said with a straight face.
Ron took a sip, “It’s quite sweet.”
“Mm-hmm.”
After hearing this, Moluna suddenly had a smug expression. She conscientiously brought a small stool, sat next to Ron by the fireplace, and prepared a cup of plain water for herself.
Moluna sat quietly, her lowered eyelids making her an exquisite doll. Now that Ron had accepted Moluna’s recovery of consciousness, although he didn’t know what happened while he was trapped, it’s good that the girl has awakened.
“Mr. Ron, we can report back to Miss Mercury tomorrow,” the tall and graceful Lilian said.
“Tomorrow? That suits me perfectly!” Ron didn’t feel rushed and even though it might be a bit late, “Why not now!”
He’s eager to go and collect his reward from Miss Mercury, but he knew he couldn’t fly, so it’s impossible to return so quickly.
It was Miss Mercury who opened a door that brought him to this place in an instant.
He’s not Miss Mercury, so he doesn’t have all these flashy means.
Ron thought his left hand with the engraved mark is the most flashy thing on him right now.
If any middle child saw it, they would surely envy it and carefully wrap it in bandages.
“Mr. Ron, do you want to go and report to Miss Mercury now?” Lilian asked.
“Yeah, but it’s pretty late now, so it doesn’t seem likely,” Ron shrugged. “She’s probably turned off the lights and gone to rest.”
Stepping back for a moment, even if he could teleport to Miss Mercury’s location, others should be sleeping too.
It wouldn’t be worth it if he disturbs Miss Mercury’s quality sleep, leading her to retract her earlier promise.
Ron could understand how unpleasant it was to be awakened during sleep.
“Mr. Ron, you might have a bit of a misunderstanding about our dragon race,” Lilian lifted her skirt and said politely, yet not awkwardly, “We dragons sleep once every few decades, and one sleep lasts for ten years.”
If you think the dragon’s schedule is similar to humans, that would be too naive.
With that, Lilian snapped her fingers. “So, you don’t have to worry about disturbing Miss Mercury’s sleep right now.”
Suddenly, a delicate door appeared on the wall, with even the doorknob intricately carved into a dragon’s head.
Ron rubbed his eyes. If he remembered correctly, this door was the same as Miss Mercury’s.
“Mr. Ron, the door is ready for you,” Lilian stood by the door, ready to open it for Ron.
“Wait a minute, if we leave, wouldn’t it be a shame for this mansion?” Ron looked around, feeling a bit reluctant to leave this mansion.
Lilian just cut down so many trees near Everwinter Town, and now abandoning this house seemed a bit wasteful.
“Shame? Mr. Ron, why do you say that?” Lilian asked calmly.
“We’re leaving, so it’ll be empty, right?” Ron said.
“Mr. Ron, do you know? You’ve already solved the problem of Everwinter Town,” Lilian said. “This means Everwinter Town will soon return to normal.”
“And then?” Ron and Moluna looked at Lilian obediently, as if students were listening to a teacher.
“This means the house I built can be considered an asset,” Lilian said softly. “And this house doesn’t have to worry about being considered an illegal asset.”
“Why?” Ron raised his hand and asked.
Lilian looked at Ron with a puzzled expression, seeming to think that this was a question that didn’t need an answer — and, of course, the answer was no.
“Well, that’s true,” Ron said dejectedly.
Moluna patted Ron’s head, trying to comfort him.
She even handed her cup of plain water to Ron, “Ron, have some water.”
Ron took the cup of water, puzzled, “I just had a drink.”
However, he suddenly thought of something and quickly asked, “Have you had some?”
Although Moluna didn’t understand why Ron asked, she answered, “Yes, I had a sip.”
“Good, good, good!” Ron immediately drank it all in one go, saying “good” three times.
Seeing this scene, Lilian withdrew the respect for Ron in her eyes, and her expression became disdainful.
Lilian, who initially thought she didn’t need to keep a distance from Ron, subtly distanced herself from him.
She retracted her earlier statement, feeling that it would take quite a long time to observe whether Ron was worthy of respect.
