Chapter 32: That’s a Dragon
She had endured pain more horrifying than this, and there were moments when death seemed elusive. The destiny of these guards couldn’t possibly stir any emotions within her. Anyone threatening Lord Ron would face complete elimination by her. The blue reflection in her eyes emitted an unusual glow, especially noticeable in the pouring rain.
“These umbrellas seem useless,” Ron commented, looking at his drenched clothes, somewhat speechless.
Contrastingly, Lilian, in her maid attire, remained untouched by a single raindrop. Even without the umbrella, Lilian could shield herself with dragon breath.
“Continuing like this will attract more attention,” Lilian calmly stated, “Your biggest challenge now is how to leave this country.”
“Lilian, it all started with you,” Ron sighed, reminding her.
Things wouldn’t have escalated so much if the maid had just crouched down.
“Lilian, Miss, are you really not considering flying us away?” Ron asked again.
“Mr. Ron, please abandon this idea,” Lilian said, “Physically and mentally, I…”
However, Lilian suddenly fell silent, her eyes fixed on a particular tower.
A dark golden spear was hurled straight from that tower, emitting a sharp whistle. Even the rain’s noise couldn’t drown out this piercing sound. The spear, covered in rock and gold, appeared dull and lifeless as if abandoned. Lilian roared, a sound only a dragon could make, slowing down the spear. At the same time, her right hand was covered in dragon scales, and her nails became rough and hardened.
“Clang.” Lilian caught the spear barehanded, her hand emitting white smoke from the friction.
She squinted her eyes, and water pooled on the ground rose, forming numerous spears in retaliation towards the tower.
Lilian didn’t scrutinize the outcome but resignedly said, “It seems you are far more valued than you imagine.”
She learned this lesson from the weight of the hefty 5600 gold bounty.
“They probably want to kill you, the enemy of Vandal,” she added.
The people of the Vandal Sanctus Empire are unaware that Ron is a time traveler. Still, claiming to be an enemy of Vandal in the empire is indeed a grave offense.
Lilian quickly surveyed the surroundings. If they continued like this, even more formidable individuals would come to this location.
“Moluna, please make the rain even heavier,” Lilian said to Moluna.
Moluna tilted her head, unsure of the reason, but complied. Inducing rainfall wasn’t a simple task. Moluna had to push her magical abilities to the limit to make the rain even sharper.
Now, the rain falling from the sky was causing a stinging sensation on people’s skin. Even structures were being pierced by raindrops. Lilian tossed aside the umbrella in her hand and, with a roar, transformed into a massive dragon covered in white scales. Between her white scales, there were intricate light blue patterns, indicating her abilities.
Lilian scooped up Ron and Moluna with her claws, then soared into the sky with a beat of her wings.
Even though she couldn’t have Ron sit on her back, picking him up was not an issue.
Her earlier refusal to transform into a dragon was mainly because turning into a dragon drew too much attention. The city’s defenses would surely focus on her. However, with this torrential downpour providing cover, the situation became much more straightforward. In the tower, a sturdy knight holding a spear hesitated to throw it for a while.
“Why aren’t you attacking the dragon?” The person in ceremonial robes next to the knight asked discontentedly.
“The rain is too heavy. It’s impossible to hit it,” the knight explained.
The man under the ceremonial robes was unconvinced, “Rain alone can’t stop you?”
“That’s a dragon, not a stationary target,” the knight said softly, putting down the spear.
This heavy rain wouldn’t affect him if it were something else, but unfortunately, it’s a powerful dragon.
