Chapter 8: Thinking positively, it’s a journey

“As you can see, this is Madam Mercury’s frozen domain,” Lilian stopped next to a massive gate, raising her hand to introduce it to Ron.

The gate and the walls extending from it were all covered in thick ice. Looking beyond these walls, you can see houses in the back that resemble ice sculptures.

Standing nearby, just breathing creates visible white vapour.

Wearing thin clothes, Ron felt like he was about to freeze, and Moluna behind him was experiencing the same.

But Lilian, dressed similarly scantily, remained completely unaffected by the icy cold. However, she also noticed the two humans were about to freeze, so she snapped her fingers.

A barrier enveloped them, isolating the chilling wind outside.

Ron looked in amazement at the transparent barrier and asked, “What is this?”

“Dragon’s breath,” Lilian explained simply.

“Dragon’s breath?” Ron was momentarily puzzled.

After all, in his understanding, dragon’s breath was what dragons exhale, typically involving breathing fire or ice.

“Mr. Ron, all the abilities of a dragon are referred to as dragon’s breath,” Lilian glanced at Ron.

Upon hearing this explanation, Ron suddenly realized something, and his expression changed slightly. “Why can you use dragon’s breath?”

Lilian considered it a somewhat foolish question, and her expression showed a hint of resignation. However, as an excellent maid, she maintained an elegant demeanor and politely replied, “Mr. Ron, that’s because I am a dragon.”

Ron’s eyes widened, and he desperately summoned the system in his mind.

“Traveler, the creature in front of you is powerful, not something you can deal with now.”

“According to the system’s assessment, the likelihood of her being a dragon exceeds 98%.”

“What about Madam Mercury?” Ron asked instinctively.

“Madam Mercury is also, naturally, a dragon,” Lilian said calmly, bowing gracefully. She revealed the shocking truth with composure.

So, he was just having a pleasant conversation with a dragon? Truly, this was a world full of surprises.

After learning the truth, he realized he didn’t feel a bit scared, surprising himself. But then again, it was a dragon maid standing in front of him. What was there to be afraid of?

It was fine that Lilian was a dragon.

“Mr. Ron, forgive me for being blunt, but you seem to look like you know nothing,” Lilian remarked.

Ron was honest and didn’t hide anything. “I really don’t know anything.”

Lilian’s ruby-like eyes widened subtly and asked, “May I ask you a few questions, Mr. Ron?”

“Go ahead,” Ron gestured for her to proceed.

Lilian asked, “Do you know the name of this world?”

“Of course, it’s the Dual-Color Realm,” Ron replied, recalling Lilian’s previous conversation with Madam Mercury.

“Do you know what magic is?” Lilian asked her hands in front of her dress, standing like an examiner.

“Do you know what prayer is?”

“Do you know what currency humans typically use?”

“Do you know what magic is?”

With each question, Lilian realized that Ron knew nothing about the Dual-Color Realm. So, she didn’t continue pressing Ron with questions, especially considering he seemed close to crashing. She used one hand to push open the door encased in ice. Ice shards scattered on the ground during the process, but the barrier kept them isolated. Once the door opened, the territory’s landscape became clear, filled with ice sculptures everywhere.

Not only were the houses turned into ice sculptures, but the people in the territory were also frozen into ice sculptures. They maintain the poses and expressions they had before being frozen to death, scattered across the streets.

“On this domain’s people have all died?” Ron asked.

“No, half of the people left in advance,” replied Lilian.

After receiving Lilian’s answer, Ron entered the territory. But he noticed that Lilian didn’t follow. Instead, she stood at the side of the gate.

Ron looked at Lilian confusedly, “Why aren’t you coming?”

“I am just your delicate servant. You should carry out this investigation, Mr. Ron,” Lilian said, lifting her skirt courteously.

She came to Ron’s side only as a watcher of the dragon race; investigating the territory was not her primary job. Moreover, if Ron encountered danger, she still wouldn’t intervene.

“But I will provide you with a place where you can rest assured,” Lilian said, knocking down a nearby tree with a palm. “Please wait a moment. I’ll build it for you.”

At the same time, she draped a coat over Ron to prevent him from freezing. Ron reluctantly entered this town-like place but heard the soft footsteps behind him, so he quickly turned his head.

Like a little duckling, Moluna followed closely behind Ron, saying nothing and doing nothing.

“If you’re a servant, taking care of her is also your job, right?” Ron said to Lilian.

Lilian nodded gently, “Of course.”

Although Moluna struggled a bit at first, she soon became quiet.

“After an hour, I’ll go back,” Ron murmured.

“It’s too cold here. I can’t stay in the town for too long after coming in,” Ron whispered.

He looked around at the frost-covered streets, walking through the ice sculptures with his body tilted. Even though he had been wandering the past few days, the places he visited were at least filled with vitality.

A place as silent as this, he had never been to before—whether before or after his time travel. After walking for a while, he heard the sounds of animals in his ears. Following the sound, he saw several furry animals rolling on the street. However, upon noticing Ron, they hastily left his line of sight.

Initially, Ron thought there were no living things in this town, but it seemed he had overcomplicated things.

It’s cold here now. Not truly a dead place.

He raised his head, exhaling a white mist, “Let’s consider it as appreciating the customs of a different world.”

Thinking positively, he considered it a free trip and, moreover, a journey to another world.
