Chapter 14: The Issue of the First Pot of Gold

“I’m awake! I’m awake! Stop!”

“No more splashing water! Please, no more!”

“If you keep doing this, I’ll really pass out! Let me go!”

The bandit leader, suspended in the air, dizzy and throbbing, was continuously splashed with water, and his consciousness was becoming unclear.

But Moluna, by the side of the bandit leader, continued to splash water on him, expressionless, while listening to his words. However, Moluna quickly depleted her magical energy, realising she could no longer use magic.

Apologetically, she said, “Lord Ron, I have no more magic.”

Upon hearing Moluna’s words, the bandit leader thought he had a chance to escape, and a smile appeared on his lips.

She could probably bite through the rope, even with her teeth if she regained her strength. Without the witch, these Phylin tribe members were not to be feared.

As for Ron? A little blond kid, also not to be feared. But the next moment, Loloan returned, carrying a bucket of water. “I brought some water.”

The smirk on the bandit leader’s face instantly disappeared.

“Well done, Loloan!” Ron was just thinking about how to wake the bandit leader without water.

“But where did you get the bucket?” He casually asked.

“There are many buckets inside this den,” Loloan explained, putting down the wooden bucket. “I was planning to take some back to the town.”

“Are you ready?” Ron personally lifted the wooden bucket, preparing to pour another bucket of water on the bandit leader.

“I’ll talk! I’ll talk! Don’t torture me anymore!!!” The bandit leader couldn’t take it anymore and began to plead. At first, he underestimated the Phylin tribe and thought he could scare them because they seemed harmless. Ron and Moluna also appeared inexperienced.

He abandoned that idea because these folks weren’t intimidated by threats. He quickly changed tactics and started begging for mercy.

While it might be a bit late, it was still better than not realising it.

If the tough approach didn’t work, try the soft one. Moreover, having interacted with many people, he knew these young ones were most likely to have a sense of compassion.

“Can you please put me down first?” The bandit leader weakly pleaded, “If this continues, I’ll really die.”

“No.” But Ron’s response was firm and decisive.

“Oh, sir, your storytelling skills are quite lacking,” Doran’s tone was full of regret, “and you lack some emotion.”

The bandit leader gritted his teeth, looking at Doran. He was regretting not killing Doran at that moment. Just for that book, which he wasn’t even sure was valuable, and sparing Doran’s life, he felt like he had been foolish.

“My mind is not clear anymore. I can’t tell you the treasure’s location like this,” the bandit leader changed his statement.

“Ron! Bring me another bucket of water!” Ron wasn’t in a hurry, “Let’s wake him up!”

If his mind wasn’t clear, they had no choice but to keep splashing water on him.

“Alright!” Loloan picked up the empty wooden bucket and headed to the river to scoop water.

“It’s all your fault. I’m going to waste precious water resources,” Ron said, arms crossed, addressing the bandit leader.

Upon hearing this, Moluna discreetly wiped her forehead. If anyone was wasting water, it was probably her. It was likely her if someone wanted to talk about who wasted the most water.

“You’re just torturing me until I pass out,” the bandit leader pleaded. “I can’t tell you anything if I faint. Stop! Stop!”

“It’s okay. If you faint, we’ll wake you up,” Ron said.

“No! No! No!” The bandit leader finally realised that Ron had no compassion.

“I’ll tell you now!” To avoid becoming as cold as his subordinates, he finally spoke, “It’s under the miscellaneous items in the utility room!”

“Push aside things. There’s a secret door below, and beneath that door is our treasure,” the bandit leader said, then coughed out the water from his mouth.

“Loloan, take some Phylin tribe members to check it out,” Ron said, finally stopping the water from splashing on the bandit leader.

The bandit leader didn’t want to be impatient either, but he might die here if he wasn’t released soon. He hadn’t realised yet that he hadn’t been dealt with because Ron was still considering using him for a reward.

After a while, Loloan hurriedly ran back, “Mr. Ron! We didn’t have a key, so we smashed open the secret door!”

“And then?” Ron’s heart couldn’t help but skip a beat.

The tone of Loloan’s words gave him a bad feeling. But Loloan didn’t bring Ron bad news, “And then, there’s gold inside!”

The Phylin tribe members who followed Loloan back also echoed, “There’s gold inside!”

When Ron followed Loloan to the treasure heap, he finally understood why the Phylin tribe had mentioned gold. The gold coins were divided into several piles placed in different locations, and at a rough glance, there were over a thousand coins. In that case, it wasn’t too surprising.

After all, Ron had a bounty worth a pile of gold coins, so this quantity couldn’t stir his emotions. However, various valuable items were easily recognisable between the piles of gold coins.

Various items, like paintings, gilded boxes, and armour, were on display, piled up in this dusty place, hidden from the sunlight. The things the bandits had looted over the years were all presented before everyone.

Ron also didn’t understand how the bandits had managed to loot so many things. Wasn’t the Wind Veil Basin supposed to be barren?

It was unimaginable that these things could be obtained in the Wind Veil Basin.

“Right! There’s gold!” Loloan said, “We Phylin tribe don’t deceive people!”

“Exactly, there’s gold,” Ron agreed.

This was Ron’s first gold pot since coming to this other world. Ron had always been uncertain about how to address the issue of having no money, but now he knew how to solve it. He was now very happy because several other bandit groups were still in the Wind Veil Basin. These other bandit groups would cover his future expenses.
