Chapter 37: I’m Allergic

“It’s barley and  seeds!”

“Dried vegetables! Jerky!”

As the carriage entered Wind Bird Town, the Phylin people swarmed around.

Initially, Ron thought these Phylin people might plunder everything from the carriage, much like the bandits. In reality, these Phylin people were just gathered around the carriage, looking at the supplies anxiously but not making any move.

Ron was quite impressed with the restraint of the Phylin people. No wonder they hadn’t become a bandit force in Wind Veil Basin.

“Mr. Ron! Can our gold be put to good use now?” Susuan, seeing these items, was a bit reserved at first but couldn’t help but ask excitedly in the end.

“Hush,” Ron gestured silently. They couldn’t let others know they had looted the bandit’s treasure.

Susuan was startled, thinking she had said something wrong, and quickly covered her mouth.

“Mr. Ron, let’s talk about the price now!” Doran eagerly suggested.

“Lilian, it’s time to make an appearance,” Ron stepped aside, pushing Lilian forward.

This is the newly appointed financial manager. It’s time to see what she’s capable of.

Lilian stepped forward and gracefully said, “Hello, Mr. Doran.”

If Doran remembered correctly, this was Ron’s maid.

“She is my financial manager,” Ron explained.

Is it a bit funny to let a guy who doesn’t even understand Bi-colored Realm currencies negotiate? He doesn’t even know the market price of a pancake. In this situation, it’s natural to showcase the knowledgeable Lilian.

“Oh, I see!” Doran quickly extended his hand, “Lady Lilian! A pleasure to meet you!”

So, this maid is the chief administrative officer. Doran couldn’t afford to build a good relationship with her. But as Doran approached Lilian, she distanced herself.

Perplexed, Doran took another step forward, only to find Lilian stepping back. “Lady Lilian?”

“Sorry, just a slight allergic reaction,” Lilian brushed off her clothes and apologetically said.

She couldn’t bear being so close to humans unless she found them agreeable.

“Lord?” Doran looked at Ron in confusion.

Ron chuckled awkwardly. His dragon maid indeed had a bit of a strong aversion to things, “Miss Lilian has a bit of a cleanliness issue.”

“Yes,” Lilian didn’t deny Ron’s words in the slightest, “I’m sorry, but please keep a distance from me.”

“Oh, I see?” Doran glanced uncertainly at Lilian.

“If you’re a serious merchant, this won’t affect our transactions,” Lilian said.

Doran rubbed his chin. Honestly, he wasn’t exactly a serious merchant. In fact, his profession wasn’t that of a merchant at all.

It’s more accurate to say that his profession isn’t that of a merchant. But he is serious, genuinely trying to gain Ron’s favor.

“Of course, there won’t be any problems!” Doran’s mind completed its thoughts in a mere five seconds.

“If I’m not mistaken, these items should have been shipped from Gray Iron City,” Lilian said.

While speaking, she assessed the guards by Doran’s side.

Doran isn’t a fool. He specifically hired two guards to protect himself. After all, without guards, who knows if his entire cart of goods might vanish halfway.

“I’ll give you a price right now.”

Doran swiftly took out a pen and began writing.

Lilian wasn’t in a rush. She stood there patiently waiting for Doran. Ron, although clueless about this, sat on the side.

Not knowing something doesn’t mean it can’t be learned; nobody is born knowing how to play the piano.

“There’s quite a bit here. Take your time to look.”

Rather than verbalizing, Doran felt that putting it down in writing was more straightforward. Of course, if spoken, there could be more room for maneuvering. However, Doran’s purpose in doing this had always been seizing the opportunity.

Lilian glanced at the written quote Doran had put down. There were no omissions on it. It has to be said Doran is much more reliable in his dealings than he appears.

“These goods are all shipped from Gray Iron City, right?” Lilian casually remarked.

“Oh, Lady Lilian, you noticed that at a glance,” Doran exclaimed in surprise.

“The closest place to Phoenix Town is Gray Iron City,” Lilian said softly.

With her hands in front of him, she added, “This way, I also have an idea about the pricing.”

Doran sighed, “Indeed.”

Lilian’s comment indicated her familiarity with Gray Iron City’s prices. Doran was relieved he hadn’t written anything carelessly. Otherwise, Lilian would have seen through it at a glance.

“Lord, there aren’t any major issues,” Lilian handed the quote Doran had given to Ron.

Not only were there issues, but it was even cheaper — considering Doran’s expenses to come to the Wind Veil Basin, he probably wouldn’t make much profit even if he sold everything to Phoenix Town.

This piqued Lilian’s curiosity and made her wonder why Doran would do something like this.

Is it to make a statement? If that’s the case, Doran might be overestimating Ron a bit.

“Mm-hmm,” Ron pretended to glance at it, but he didn’t recognize the Bi-colored Realm’s characters.

Usually, Ron relied on the system to translate these documents for him. However, he suddenly felt he should take some time to learn the language of the Bi-colored Realm. After all, if the system were to crash, he wouldn’t know what to do.

“Quite good,” Ron cleared his throat, “We might take all of it.”

“Oh! Truly a Lord! So generous!” Doran exclaimed in surprise. “I thought you wouldn’t take it all.”

After all, before his arrival, Phoenix Town was nothing but ruins, and the Phylin tribe hadn’t settled yet. He had long prepared himself for a considerable loss, perhaps even giving away the goods for free.

“Made a bit of a profit,” Ron said subtly.

“Oh, indeed,” Doran understood perfectly what Ron meant.

He had witnessed the Phylin tribe clearing out everything from the bandit group.

“Susuan, have someone bring out the gold,” Ron told Susuan. “Let them exchange it with money for the goods themselves.”

“Alright, Mr. Ron,” Susuan perked up and acknowledged.

Before leaving, he looked at the several carriages with an incredulous expression. He had never imagined someone would specifically come to the Wind Veil Basin to deliver supplies to the Phylin tribe.
