Chapter 40: The Master’s House

Doran departed Wind Veil Basin two days later with a carriage empty of possessions. While leaving, Doran was crying uncontrollably.

If Ron hadn’t known that Doran had used eye drops before crying, he would have genuinely thought he was upset.

Initially, Doran had planned to develop in Windbird Town, but with the current lack of proper housing, he thought it would be better to bring more goods to further the town’s development.

By the way, the next time Windbird Town became lively, Doran decided to open a shop here. The shop’s name would be “Doran,” yes, it must be named after him.

The risk of pioneering is substantial, but there’s also joy.

“So, goodbye, gentlemen and ladies.”

Doran stood at the back of the carriage, raising his hat high and exclaiming loudly. However, he got too excited and nearly fell off the moving carriage if Scar hadn’t held him up, he might have needed a few days to recover in Windbird Town.

“Mr. Ron, thank you for your hard work during this time!” Watching Doran leave, Susuan thanked Ron, saying, “Thank you for taking care of our fools.”

This time, the trade with the Phylin Tribe was primarily managed by Susuan, so she knew how much effort Ron and Lilian had put into it.

Unfortunately, for now, most of the Phylin Tribe members in Windbird Town were still rather foolish and hadn’t found anyone particularly bright yet.

“How polite you are. If that guy, Loloan, had half your manners, I wouldn’t be so bothered,” Ron sighed with emotion.

Loloan never really regarded Ron as the lord or even as the mayor.

“Mr. Ron! Are you calling for me?” Loloan, upon hearing Ron mentioning him, jumped down from a two-story-high roof, carrying a wooden board longer than himself on his shoulder.

“Send me back!? That’s too much trouble!” Loloan objected. Jumping down was easy, but climbing back up required much effort.

“It was easy for him to jump down, but climbing back up would require much effort.”

“Oh, by the way, Mr. Ron, I heard you’re getting us weapons?” Remembering something he heard a few days ago, Loloan asked curiously.

Anyway, he didn’t want to climb up so quickly. He planned to stay here for a while before making a decision.

“That’s what was said, but it seems impossible.”

Ron casually replied, “I heard they’re delivering weapons to us. Moluna might get caught.”

“Don’t we have those weapons from the bandits?” Loloan questioned,”Do we still need so many?”

“I don’t know, but more wouldn’t hurt,” Ron responded.

This Windbird Town is quite a dangerous place, without any means of defense. Ron couldn’t let his guard down at all.

In reality, the Phylin Tribe had less than three hundred people, and there weren’t many among them who were capable fighters.

“Our immediate priority is to find the ability to protect ourselves. Otherwise, what we have here won’t be defendable,” Susuan sighed.

They lacked significant self-defense capabilities — they had known this for a while, or else they wouldn’t be hiding underground.

“Huh? Susuan! So, you’re here too!” Loloan, while talking with Ron, suddenly noticed Susuan.

“Idiot, I’ve been here for a while,” Susuan retorted with annoyance, “You’re just noticing now?”

Of course, Susuan, being a lady, quickly calmed herself. She raised her head to look at Ron. “Mr. Ron, there’s something else we need to tell you.”

“What is it?” Ron lowered his head in inquiry.

“The gold you gave us is all spent,” Susuan said.

Ron widened his eyes, “Not a single coin left?”

“Yeah! Not a single coin left!” Susuan’s face was beaming with a smile, “We bought some great stuff! Our houses will be built soon!”

Susuan’s smile was radiant, but Ron’s smile was gradually fading. He quickly looked at his financial steward, “Miss Lilian, what’s going on?”

Lilian said, “Don’t worry, it’s just that we’ve run out of coins.”

“Just run out?” Ron wanted to tell Lilian that it was over a thousand gold coins. By saving a bit, maybe it would be enough to cover his own bounty.

“Being able to buy so many things with those coins is already a profit for us,” Lilian said calmly.

“I get it.” Ron glanced over, feeling unsettled, “But can’t it be a bit cheaper?”

Just the tools for construction already took a third of the coins. Then, the reserve food brought back by Doran took up much of the expenses.

“I can, but Mr. Doran might starve on his way back,” Lilian said with lowered eyelids. “Of course, I don’t care about Doran’s life or death. If you want, I can use dragon’s breath to threaten for a lower price next time.”

“No need,” Ron quickly interrupted Lilian’s suggestion.

“You don’t need to be so tense. I’ve said before, it’s just the coins that are spent,” Lilian said. “The various valuable items you grabbed from the bandits are still here.”

“What use are those things?” Ron shook his head helplessly. “You said it yourself, things that can’t be sold are worthless.”

“I can take you to a place where you can sell them,” Lilian said. “Your maid can meet most of your demands.”

“As long as it’s not excessive,” Ron replied.

She extended her hand, wrapped in a white glove, and made a warning gesture. “At Lady Mercury’s residence.”
