Reincarnated Ice-Cold Young Lady, Don’t Let Them Stick to You V1C2

CHAPTER 2 THE YOUNG LADY IS AWAKE!

As Ye Zhibai gradually regained his senses amidst the confusion and heaviness of his body, the real world began to sharpen into focus. The sharp, distinct smell of disinfectant stung his nostrils—a smell all too familiar from his past life as a medical student. It was definitely the smell of a hospital.

The white, pristine ceiling tiles overhead, the soft sheets under his palms, and the incessant beeping of a heart monitor close by—everything pointed unmistakably to a hospital room. The cheerful chirping of birds outside the window contrasted sharply with the clinical sounds and smells surrounding him.

Ye Zhibai tried to make sense of it all. His body felt as heavy as lead; even turning his head to look around was an impossible task. He could only stare upwards, lying flat on his back.

‘Calm down… just take a moment to calm down.’

If this is a hospital, then maybe everything about that cursed orb of light was just a dream. Maybe he hadn’t died at all.

Perhaps he had been struck by a vehicle and then kindly brought here by a passerby. It made sense. After all, being ridiculed by a deity after dying—such a tragic fate couldn’t possibly be real, could it?

‘Right, it must be that way. Who could be so unfortunate?’

And the part about becoming a girl… That must have been just a dream too, a bizarre twist from his subconscious.

‘What a strange dream… just scaring myself silly.’

With a sense of relief from setting aside those wild thoughts, “Ye Zhibai” let out a breath he hadn’t realized he’d been holding.

“Huh…”

But something felt off.

The rapid beeps of the heart rate monitor echoed Ye Zhibai’s sudden spike in anxiety. It had to be a mistake in how he was breathing. He tried again, letting out a gentle exhale.

This time, the sound was louder, more distinct.

“Huh…!”

Wait, wait, wait!

‘My voice!’

Why does it lack the deep, magnetic quality it used to have? Why does it sound so… sweet?

“Huh, huh, huh! Cough, cough, cough!”

Note to self: don’t keep exhaling without inhaling—it’s a terrible idea. Choking on his own saliva, he began to cough violently, which was distressingly uncomfortable.

Using the momentum from the coughing fit, Ye Zhibai painfully shifted towards the head of the bed. The narrowness of his back felt strange as he tried to prop himself up against the bedside cabinet…

As his eyes, squinted from discomfort, gradually opened wider, he gasped in shock and disbelief.

The perspective had shifted, and so had the scenery.

The hospital room was unexpectedly spacious—far larger than expected. It was like a VIP suite set aside for dignitaries, with just one bed—his bed.

But that wasn’t the main shock.

On a tag at the head of the bed, the name wasn’t “Ye Zhibai”(叶志柏) —the name he knew as his. Instead, it read—Ye Zhìbái  (叶芷白).

Ha…?

A distinctly feminine name. Could the nurse have made a mistake while entering my information? Not just one mistake, but two?

If only it were that simple!

As Ye Zhìbái observed a strand of silver hair floating before his eyes and settling down on the bed, his heart sank. Following the hair along the bedsheet, it seemed almost long enough to reach the edge of the bed.

He nervously shifted his gaze downward. More than just a strand, his central vision was filled with a sea of shining silver, spreading across the majority of the bed.

And following the trail of that silver hair, he saw his lower half—two legs clad in pure white pajama pants, slender and delicate.

At the end of those legs, two small, finely crafted feet, as if made of porcelain…

Trying to wiggle his toes…

They moved.

‘Could these really be my feet? Have they shrunk by two sizes?’

He lifted his hands—they were similarly delicate, with long, slender fingers, and the skin on his arms had a captivating snowy whiteness.

Ye Zhìbái’s face turned ashen.

Damn… I’ve never had long hair, let alone silver hair! That’s the hair color of the 2D waifu of my dreams! But now, this dreamlike, unspeakably beautiful silver hair is mine. Could it be… those events weren’t just a dream? Did that bizarre Orb of light really turn me into a girl?!

Panic nearly overwhelmed Ye Zhìbái’s entire mind as “she” desperately sought further confirmation. “No… this can’t… be happening…”

Ye Zhìbái had to admit, she was truly panicked. It was only now that she realized her body seemed a bit stronger compared to when she had first awakened, though still not strong enough to move freely. However, making small movements was no longer a problem.

The previous checks weren’t enough; her palm began to slowly explore up her arm, moving towards her chest, and suddenly stopped.

“Hmm…?”

What is this wonderful yet calming sensation? Not too big, not too small, just the right size that one hand could comfortably grasp. The curve was modest, yet like an artistic arc, soothing to the soul! This was something Ye Zhìbái had never touched in her previous life…

Ye Zhìbái felt a sudden urge. She gathered what little strength she had and squeezed firmly!

“Ah…!”

Instantly, she felt a surge of electricity course through her. Ye Zhìbái’s toes involuntarily curled.

?! Was that pathetic sound really made by me…? That delicate, fragile voice that seemed like it could be blown over by a mere gust of wind?!

But, that sensation was indeed something Ye Zhìbái had never experienced in her more than twenty years of life.

The overwhelming sensation caused her hand to slide from her chest and naturally fall towards her upper thigh, near the middle.

The heart rate monitor beeped with the highest frequency since Ye Zhìbái had awakened.

Help, someone!

In a flash of sudden realization and existential crisis, Ye Zhìbái comes to terms with the disappearance of her “little brother” who had accompanied her for over twenty years without ever “entering battle.” It was gone, just like that!

Ye Zhìbái was truly at her wit’s end. She pretty much knew that the damned orb of light hadn’t lied—it really had turned her into a girl. But now… she desperately needed someone to explain exactly what situation she was in! At the very least, she needed a mirror to see what she looked like now.

With the little strength she had regained, Ye Zhìbái had nearly exhausted herself. The only action she could manage was to try hitting the metal rail of the hospital bed with her hand, creating a clanging sound to hopefully attract a living person to come and explain her circumstances.

It turned out to be a successful strategy. Ye Zhìbái had barely hit the rail three times before the door to her room was kicked open with such force, it was like an explosion—a scene akin to a battlefield. Startled, Ye Zhìbái shuddered all over.

Along with the sound of the door being kicked open, there were two urgent shouts.

“Miss?!”

“Miss Ye! Are you alright?!”

Ye Zhìbái weakly looked up through her peripheral vision at the dramatic scene unfolding at the door. It wasn’t a nurse who entered.

Instead, two women dressed in black and white maid outfits, wielding baseball bats and looking fiercely vigilant, stormed into the room—two… maid sisters?

As the maids saw Ye Zhìbái wide-eyed, propped against the side of the bed looking at them, they displayed a level of astonishment that matched Ye Zhìbái’s own.

Ye Zhìbái thought she heard one of the maids, in a voice filled with surprise and trembling excitement, instruct the other.

“Quick… hurry! Go tell the second young miss… the eldest miss has awakened! The eldest miss has really come to!”
