Reincarnated Ice-Cold Young Lady, Don’t Let Them Stick to You V1C7

CHAPTER 7 YOU’RE REALLY WEALTHY!

Ye Zhibai was impressed by the smooth operation of Ye Zhiyun’s smartphone. Swiping and tapping felt silky and responsive, a stark contrast to the outdated and refurbished models she had used in her previous life. Back then, opening an app meant mentally counting the seconds before it loaded, a frustrating experience given her financial constraints.

Ye Zhiyun leaned close, her black hair brushing against Ye Zhibai’s shoulder as she asked curiously,

“Sister… why do you want to look at the map?”

“Just curious,” Ye Zhibai replied dismissively, eager to avoid dwelling on the image set as the phone’s wallpaper—a sleeping silver-haired beauty that was, unmistakably, her own image. It confirmed yet again Ye Zhiyun’s over-the-top adoration for her sister, an obsession Ye Zhibai found both flattering and a little unsettling.

Focusing back on the task at hand, Ye Zhibai quickly opened the phone’s built-in calendar app.

— June 1st, 2022, 2:43 PM.

She frowned slightly. She distinctly remembered being hit by a car around noon on the same date in her previous life. This meant only a little over two hours had passed since her previous life had ended—a seamless transition indeed!

The date was significant for another reason; it was a promotional day at the milk tea shop, where discounts were offered at the start of the month. If it hadn’t been for the discount, Ye Zhibai would have never considered “chasing” that girl by buying her tea—far too extravagant for her taste.

And to think, that accursed orb had mocked her for being a “loyal dog,” completely misunderstanding her relationship with that girl. It wasn’t about chasing; it was more of a complex fate that tied them together, nothing more.

Now, as she held the smartphone, Ye Zhibai knew that revisiting these memories served no purpose. She was in a different life now, with different challenges ahead. But first, she needed to understand where exactly she was in this new life. She swiped through the phone, opening the map application to pinpoint her current location and confirm whether this was still the world she once knew.

Ye Zhibai’s eyes widened in surprise as she navigated the so-called unscrupulous map on the phone. Ye Zhiyun, noticing her sister’s unusual focus, asked with concern, “What’s wrong?”

“I need to ask you, Ye Zhi… uh, Yun’er,” Ye Zhibai corrected herself quickly after catching a particular look from Ye Zhiyun.

Her fingers continued to swipe across the map, disbelief in her eyes. “This place… is it the Qi Hai City Central Hospital?”

“Yes, Sister. You’ve been here for two years. We’ve rented this room, and there are maids guarding it day and night,” Ye Zhiyun replied matter-of-factly.

“No, I mean, are we in Qi Hai City?” Ye Zhibai clarified further.

“Qi Hai City Central Hospital is, of course, in Qi Hai City…” Ye Zhiyun responded, her lips quivering slightly with excitement. Sister knows how to use the map!

Though the question seemed odd, Ye Zhiyun didn’t mind. Ye Zhibai, however, was overwhelmed by her thoughts. Not only had she reincarnated into this body just a short time after her death, but she was also in the same city as her previous life. Yes, in her past life, Ye Zhibai had also lived in Qi Hai City, where she attended the local top university—Qi Hai University, which she had struggled mightily to get into.

Previously, Ye Zhibai’s rented apartment had been in the East District of Qi Hai City. Now, this central hospital in the West District wasn’t that far from her old place. Despite being separated by the city’s east and west, her apartment was just about a dozen kilometers away.

Had she reincarnated just a stone’s throw from her old home?

Ye Zhibai couldn’t tell if this was a coincidence or some divine arrangement by that self-proclaimed deity, the orb. Driven by anxiety and a need to grasp more about her situation, she quickly opened the local news section of Qi Hai City’s public social media account to see if there was anything that could clue her in on current events or any anomalies in this seemingly familiar city.

Ye Zhibai’s heart felt heavy as she read the headline. It was a surreal moment—seeing a report of her own death displayed so prominently. She couldn’t bring herself to click on the article to read the details. The notion of reliving those final, traumatic moments was too much.

Ye Zhiyun, sensing her sister’s distress, took her hand gently, trying to provide comfort. “Sister, did seeing the accident news remind you of your own experience? I’m sorry… no one was there for you then. You must have felt so helpless, everyone busy with their own lives… no one noticed you stepping onto the street, and then that van… Ah, Sister, don’t worry… from now on, I’ll always be here to watch over you. Such a thing… won’t happen again!”

A van not a car? Ye Zhibai thought wryly, her recent accident had involved a car, not a van. Despite this, Ye Zhiyun’s warm touch gave her a slight courage.

With a furrowed brow, Ye Zhibai clicked on the news link. The article didn’t provide much more than the headline—just some additional details and a few pictures from the scene.

“The deceased was a sophomore from the Medical Department at Qi Hai University. The identity is being confirmed. Preliminary investigation suggests the accident was caused by a van driver under the influence of alcohol. Students are urged to be cautious and observant when crossing streets.”

Drunk driving—such reckless disregard for life! It angered Ye Zhibai, odd as it felt to be incensed on her own behalf. The crime needed severe punishment.

The photos showed the scene after her body had been removed.

Enough. Ye Zhibai’s heart ached as she closed the news app and handed the phone back to Ye Zhiyun. In her mind, she bid her former self a peaceful journey: “To my past self… rest well. You’ve tried hard enough… now, find peace.”

“…I need phone which is affordable”

“……”

“Okay sister, I’ll arrange the best smartphone there is…”

Ye Zhibai’s jaw dropped slightly as she processed the whirlwind of miscommunications flying around her. “I just meant… the cheapest one…” she tried to clarify, almost whispering amidst the unfolding chaos.

“Ahh, I understand, Sister,” Ye Zhiyun nodded earnestly, misunderstanding further, “You mean that price isn’t the only measure of value, right? Yes, performance is what truly matters. You’re always so thoughtful!”

Ye Zhibai was flabbergasted. *She doesn’t get it at all! I was just trying to save some money!*

Her thoughts were interrupted by a nagging suspicion. The extravagance Ye Zhiyun had casually wielded struck her as surreal. “Yun’er… when you came here today, you didn’t… arrive in a helicopter, did you? Your own…?”

“Hmm? Oh, yes, Sister! Ah, do you want a helicopter too? Alright, I understand! Let’s get a few more, just to—”

Ye Zhibai hurriedly cut her off before she could summon the maid again. “No, I don’t want one. I was just asking.”

“Ohh… Sister, your questions today are really odd.”

*You’re the odd one!* Ye Zhibai thought to herself in exasperation. Since when was ordering helicopters like picking flowers?

This reminds me of a novel I once read on cimeiwao. It was called “Ah, I love citrus so much”
Maybe it’s the same? Though that one disappeared after a while, though I really enjoyed it.
I do not quite remember it. I do know there will be a succubus character later and they’ll go to an amusement park – isn’t that right? If so, then it’s that novel
