Chapter 106: Original Magic

There were only two situations where Roseweisse would speak her mind:

One was when she was drunk;

The other was when she had finished their “homework,” her mind slightly foggy and wanting to snuggle into Leon’s arms to rest.

Now was one of those times.

She draped her pale arm over the man’s chest, her warm palm caressing the dragon mark on his chest.

The glow of the dragon mark finally began to fade.

Looking at the dragon mark on her arm, it, too, had calmed down.

Roseweisse secretly breathed a sigh of relief, “It’s finally… over.”

Even the strongest dragon mark resonance had its limits based on their physical state.

If they had continued, they would probably have to walk while holding onto the walls tomorrow.

Seeing that the dragon mark’s reaction had subsided, Leon relaxed, lifting his hand to gently cover Roseweisse’s cool hand.

After a brief silence, Leon suddenly asked,

“By the way, since the dragon mark reaction has become so sensitive now, will it affect daily life? Or, what if it happens during a battle? That could be dangerous.”

It was indeed an important question.

Imagine Leon fighting some fearless Dragon King, and suddenly, his wife at home gets worried about him, then— Dragon mark, activate!

The Dragon King opposite sees General Leon’s chest and arm glowing purple, thinking he’s about to unleash some ultimate move;

But in reality, General Leon just wants to snuggle with his wife.

Opposite Dragon King: “Can you please take this fight seriously?”

This is outrageous!

Roswither shook her head,

“It won’t happen. Whether the dragon marks resonate depends a lot on our subjective thoughts.”

“Subjective thoughts?”

“Mm-hmm. For example, as you mentioned, if the dragon marks react in the middle of a battle, that’s impossible.”

Roswither explained, “Although we might worry or miss each other during battle, it’s completely different from our thoughts during idle moments. What differentiates these thoughts isn’t the dragon marks but us.”

She quietly withdrew her hand, slowly sliding it upward until it rested on Leon’s neck, her fingers gently brushing against his firm jawline as she continued,

“You wouldn’t be thinking about going on a date with me while you’re in the middle of a fight, right?”

General Leon seriously considered for a moment and then answered in a mock-serious tone, “Well, it’s hard to say. Considering that the Dragon Kings I’ve faced were all weaklings, I might think of you during a fight.”

Roseweisse gave him a playful slap on the arm, “What do you mean by ‘all the Dragon Kings you’ve faced were weaklings’? Does that mean I’m a weakling too?”

“No, no, you’re anything but weak. After all, I’ve never battled any other Dragon King until dawn!”

Ugh, you’re awful!”

Rosweisses withdrew her hand and scooted to the other side of the bed, deliberately putting some distance between them.

Leon didn’t move closer either.

The two of them lay there, staring up at the ceiling.

After a moment, Roseweisses said, “Judging from the intensity of the resonance earlier, there’s no issue with the second dragon mark. So, we can store more magic power with it.”

“Yeah.”

The purpose of engraving the second dragon mark wasn’t just for more intense “homework” sessions (although that might have been a small bonus), but mainly to make them stronger.

The more magic power they had, the more spells they could use in battle.

“But… relying on just this still isn’t enough.”

Roseweisse said, “Simply increasing the magic power reserves won’t be enough to turn the tide of battle. I need… other methods to improve myself.”

Leon glanced at her and said, “You’re a silver dragon, specialized in speed, unlike Constantine or Star, who focus on offense. Forcing yourself to grow stronger might carry unpredictable risks.”

Roswither nodded, “There are risks, yes. But I don’t want to…”

She trailed off as if hesitating to say the rest.

“Don’t want what?”

Roseweisse closed her eyes, a slight smile tugging at the corners of her lips. Then she slowly turned her head, opening her beautiful silver eyes to look at the man in front of her.

“I don’t want to always hide behind you. I want to stand beside you, Leon.”

Leon’s pupils shifted as he met her gaze.

“During the battle with Star, didn’t we fight side by side? You’re already very strong, Roseweisse.”

“Yes, we fought together, but whether it was breaking through his ultimate defense, the Twilight Bell, or neutralizing his final self-destruction, it was all thanks to you.”

Roseweisse gave a bitter smile, her tone carrying a hint of self-mockery, “A captive stealing the queen’s thunder—doesn’t that make me look bad as a queen?”

“Not at all, silly.”

Leon gently caressed her cheek, his voice soft, “If you hadn’t intervened at the right moment, I wouldn’t have walked away from Star’s explosion unscathed—I’d at least be a little worse for wear.”

“So, my role is just to make sure you get fewer scratches?”

“Hey now, I didn’t say that, Your Majesty. That’s your own interpretation.”

Roseweisse laughed and lay back down.

“Hmm… I’ve actually thought of a way.”

Leon sighed inwardly.

Of course… His wife was as stubborn as a mule; once she decided on something, not even eight dragons could drag her back.

But he was still willing to hear her out.

“What is it?”

“Have you ever heard of… ‘Primal Magic’?”

“Original Magic… I’ve heard of it, but not much.”

Leon pondered for a moment before continuing, “The professors at Dragon Slayer Academy occasionally mentioned something about original magic.”

“They said that original magic was a type of magic created by the ancestors of certain races at the beginning of this continent’s chaos, using the purest energy.”

“It doesn’t have elemental changes like lightning, fire, or wind, nor does it have transformations like Chidori or Thunder Wolf Breaker.”

“Original magic is released through pure energy, and the effects it achieves are very different from the diverse elemental magics that exist today.”

“But as for the specifics… I’m not too clear. The academy didn’t offer any courses on original magic, and we didn’t delve into it much.”

Listening to Leon’s explanation, Roseweisse nodded approvingly,

“Original magic has existed since the creation of this continent, ‘Samael,’ which dates back millions of years. Not only humans, but even dragons have very little documentation on original magic.”

“But there is one thing that’s highly reliable.”
