Chapter 44: When husband and wife are of one mind, their strength can break metal
As Isabella had said, patrolling the border was a good excuse for a date.
Leon and Rosvitha set out early, while Anna would temporarily handle internal affairs in His Majesty’s absence.
From the Silver Dragon Territory to the Scarlet Flame Dragon Clan, at Rosvitha’s speed, it would take about four hours.
Upon reaching the border of the Scarlet Flame Dragon Clan, Rosvitha activated her invisibility magic.
“There’s not a single guard at the territorial border.”
Leon sat on Rosvitha’s dragon back, looking down below. “Have they really neglected this place?”
“Yes. After the fall of the Dragon King, his race has struggled to recover for several years.”
Rosvitha said, “Moreover, the Scarlet Flame Dragon Clan has made too many enemies in the past. Now that Constantine is dead, everyone naturally wants to take advantage.”
“Hmm, the Scarlet Flame Dragon Clan is quite pitiful.”
“Do you sympathize with them? Who was it that took down their leader?”
Leon grinned, “None other than yours truly!”
“Tch, idiot.”
With a burst of speed, the queen continued deeper into the Scarlet Flame Dragon Clan’s territory.
In the afternoon, the two landed in a forest.
Rosvitha took out a map, a simple one drawn by Shirley, who she had sent to survey the situation before.
“The Scarlet Flame Dragon Clan’s main camp is ahead, but I doubt there will be anyone there.”
“We’ll rest in this forest for now, it’ll make it easier to move at night.”
“Yeah… but how do we find that confidant?”
Leon asked, “When you probed Maureen’s memories, didn’t you only see a very vague image?”
“While the image was blurry, his figure was still quite clear,” Rosvitha explained.
“And since he was Constantine’s confidant, after Constantine’s fall, whether it’s internal factional struggles or external provocations for revenge, neither of these things would keep him low-key. So, finding him isn’t actually difficult.”
Leon nodded thoughtfully. “I see.”
While he was skilled at slaying dragons and uncovering spies, when it came to matters of politics and factional strife, Rosvitha had more authority to speak.
As they chatted, they found a tree with dense foliage and suitable height.
Rosvitha led Leon to the top of the ancient tree, where the leaves provided cover while allowing them to observe their surroundings. Any slightest movement would be noticed from this excellent vantage point.
“Speaking of which, if we really find that guy, do you have any way to make him talk?” Rosvitha sat down against the trunk and asked.
Leon crossed his legs, sitting opposite her. “Of course. Although I don’t quite understand the political struggles of your dragon race, I’m quite adept at deceiving people.”
Rosvitha chuckled, crossing her arms. “Really? Just so you know, the memory probing magic only works effectively when there’s a significant power gap between the parties involved, otherwise, the interrogated would resist.”
“No worries, I plan to focus on psychological warfare this time.”
Rosvitha raised an eyebrow, intrigued. “Psychological warfare? Tell me more.”
Leon smirked mysteriously. “I’ll tell you tonight.”
“Tch, playing mysterious.” Rosvitha rolled her eyes at him, no longer pressing the matter, and let out a slow yawn.
“How about you take a nap first? You must be tired after flying for so long. I’ll wake you up when it’s night,” Leon suggested.
“You want me to sleep against this cold, rough tree trunk?”
It wasn’t that she couldn’t sleep; Rosvitha hadn’t become that delicate. But if there was a better option available, she wouldn’t deny herself.
Seeing Rosvitha’s mischievous expression, Leon couldn’t pretend to be oblivious anymore.
With a resigned expression, General Leon reluctantly stood up and walked over to Rosvitha, then sat down beside her.
No need for words; the queen didn’t bother with pleasantries, simply leaned against his shoulder.
Hmm, much better than the tree trunk.
This story tells us that even if you’re getting a fake spouse, make sure they have a good physique—
Much more comfortable!
The queen’s soft body pressed against him, her delicate fragrance wafting into Leon’s nostrils, quite pleasant indeed.
But this arm… being pressed by Rosvitha was somewhat uncomfortable.
Yet Leon didn’t know where to put it.
Rosvitha opened one eye, sensing Leon’s discomfort, and softly said, “Just put it wherever you feel comfortable.”
“Emmmm…”
As a couple, they both understood how to make their current position more comfortable. And Rosvitha had expressed her preference, allowing Leon to act accordingly.
But Leon felt a bit awkward and hesitant.
Seeing him hesitate, Rosvitha knew he was feeling embarrassed.
Muttering “idiot” under her breath, Rosvitha simply lifted Leon’s arm and placed it around herself from behind, resting his hand on her shoulder.
Then she leaned back, enjoying her makeshift human pillow.
The beauty nestled in his embrace, her soft and delicate back pressed against his arm. If he just tilted his head slightly, his nose would touch her hair… Wasn’t this position a bit… Too intimate?
—General Leon, who had already fathered three children with the other party, thought so.
Ah, forget it, whatever.
Since she asked me to do this, I’m just following orders. It’s not my fault.
Leon tried to make Rosvitha as comfortable as possible leaning against him while he continued to vigilantly scan their surroundings.
…
In the evening, the moonlight was bright, greatly aiding Leon and Rosvitha.
Not far away, several flickering flames surrounded the Scarlet Flame Dragon Clan’s main camp.
The couple crouched on a treetop, looking in that direction by the bright moonlight.
“It doesn’t seem like the Scarlet Flame Dragon Clan,” Rosvitha said. “It must be outsiders seeking revenge.”
“Then where did the remnants of the Scarlet Flame Dragon Clan go? Are they hiding?” Leon asked.
Rosvitha shook her head. “Hiding would be like handing over the Scarlet Flame Dragon Clan’s territory on a silver platter. Even if Constantine is dead, his loyalists wouldn’t do that. They’re probably hiding in the shadows, waiting for the right moment to strike. After all, without a Dragon King, there’s no one to mediate conflicts and wars, so we need to be cautious everywhere.”
“Ah, I see.” The two continued to observe.
After more than forty minutes, the number of fires gradually increased, accompanied by more footsteps and murmurs.
The various dragon clans seeking revenge didn’t truly intend to uproot the Scarlet Flame Dragon Clan; otherwise, they wouldn’t have sent so few people over. They probably just wanted to intimidate the Scarlet Flame Dragon Clan, after all, everyone likes to kick someone when they’re down.
Seeing that their normal search couldn’t find many Scarlet Flame Dragons, those seeking revenge began aimlessly attacking the Scarlet Flame Dragon’s temples and buildings. The sound of magical explosions echoed continuously. Before long, the cries of battle and the roar of flames could be heard.
“It’s finally happening. Let’s go, maybe we can find that guy directly if we’re lucky,” Rosvitha said.
“Wait a moment,” Leon stopped her.
“What’s wrong?”
“I can handle this myself. You stay here and wait for me,” Leon said.
Rosvitha raised an eyebrow, a hint of a smile playing on her lips. “Are you really that worried about me getting hurt?”
“Let’s save the chitchat for later, mother of dragons. Just stay here obediently, understand?”
Rosvitha pretended to ponder seriously for a moment, then solemnly replied, “I don’t.”
Leon: ?
“Have you heard the saying?” Rosvitha asked with a mischievous smile.
“What are you saying?”
“When husband and wife are of one mind, their strength can break metal!”
Your teammate Rosvitha Melkvi has joined the room. Let the match begin!
Even when infiltrating other territories they keep flirting or being a lovely couple.
Imagine if Isabelle knew about this.
