Chapter 7: Little Light beat up Leon!
In the evening, there was an open-air barbecue by the seaside. Leon stood by the grill, wearing an apron and holding a pair of barbecue tongs, earnestly handling this piece of premium beef leg.
The hot charcoal in the grill burned, sporadic flames drifting out along the hot air currents. The beef on the rack sizzled and sputtered, exuding a delightful aroma.
The two little dragon girls stood on either side of their dad, holding forks in their hands, eager to take down the beef demon in front of them.
This beef was much more delicious than the Ironclad Yak that Muen usually ate, after all, it was provided by the advanced tourist area for dragon clans, something not easily found in ordinary places.
Rosvitha didn’t have a deep understanding of gourmet food, although she occasionally cooked for herself and was quite skilled in the kitchen. However, when it came to eating, she didn’t have any particularly special pursuits.
Good taste, nutrition, safety—that’s all she needed.
So, she was now just holding Little Light, standing behind Leon, silently watching his busy figure.
Little Light’s teeth hadn’t developed enough to eat grilled beef yet, so she had to wait for about another week.
However, Little Light had a very keen sense of smell.
After smelling the aroma of roasted meat, she babbled in baby talk, reaching out her little arms toward Leon’s back.
Rosvitha pinched her daughter’s cheek. “Little Light can’t eat it yet. Mommy brought you other delicious food.” She coaxed Little Light and then sat back in a beach chair, feeding Little Light the prepared nutritious milkshake spoon by spoon. The little daughter was obedient, happily drinking the milkshake amidst the aroma of roasted meat.
The queen showed a relieved aunt’s smile.
It turns out that bringing up a daughter is such a fulfilling thing. Watching her grow little by little, becoming more intimate with herself, Rosvitha felt a great sense of satisfaction in the soft part of her heart.
Actually, over a year ago, when she took care of Noia and Muen, she also had this feeling, but it was very, very faint.
Because at that time, Leon was still in a coma, unable to share her worries, and besides, her feelings for Leon were mainly focused on revenge. So, the predominant feelings in her heart were still those of loss and sorrow.
It was inevitable. Having the child of her archenemy and giving birth to it, no matter how you think about it, it’s not something that can be readily accepted.
However, this doesn’t mean Rosvitha doesn’t love Noia and Muen; she doesn’t love her daughters any less than Leon.
And now, she and Leon maintain this false family, everything is peaceful and harmonious. Except for themselves, no one in the world can tell that they are a fake couple. Although the daughters were born into this false family, the love they feel is incredibly real.
That’s enough, more than enough. This kind of life has far exceeded Rosvitha’s initial expectations. But… behind the beautiful lies, there are always people who have to bear the weight of these lies.
What Leon doesn’t know is that during the time Rosvitha was pregnant with Little Light, she often had nightmares. In these dreams, Leon leaves the Silver Dragon Temple, leaves this false family, leaves the daughters who love him.
Of course, he also leaves Rosvitha.
Whenever this dream enters Rosvitha’s consciousness, she wakes up in the middle of the night, startled.
She couldn’t remember the details of the dream or how it began and ended; the only thing she could recall was that Leon was gone. There were no terrifying scenes, no heart-wrenching cries, just a silent departure, enough to make Rosvitha break out in a cold sweat.
But when she turned to look at the person beside her pillow, her pounding heart would gradually calm down. Everything was just a dream. Rosvitha didn’t understand why she had such dreams or why they disturbed her so much.
She thought and thought, feeling that she was just too afraid that this hard-won family would fall apart overnight. Like the pressure she endured when Leon returned to the Empire a few days ago, a pressure that no one could empathize with.
Five days and nights, for a dragon with a lifespan of thousands of years, it was like a drop in the ocean, but for Rosvitha, it was the most agonizing five days she had ever experienced.
She was afraid that Leon wouldn’t come back, afraid that three months apart would be too long, afraid that their next meeting would be their last in this lifetime.
Even though everything was over now, Rosvitha still occasionally thought about her feelings at that time. The person who could make the dignified Silver Dragon Queen lose sleep… there was only that guy in the world, wasn’t there?
Hiss… I’m a bit annoyed. Alright. She would be angry with him later, not tell him why, and let him guess.
“Wa wa~”
Little Light finished her milkshake, waving her little hands and grabbing the small braid beside Rosvitha’s temple.
“What a little mommy’s girl. When daddy holds you, you give daddy an uppercut, but when mommy holds you, you just grab mommy’s hair.”
Rosvitha teased Little Light. “Little Light, grow up quickly, and when you grow up, your uppercut will be stronger~”
“Wu~ Aba aba~” Little Light babbled.
“The barbecue is ready, let’s go eat. I’ll hold Little Light,” Leon said as he untied his apron and walked over.
Rosvitha stood up and handed Little Light to Leon. He eagerly leaned in to nuzzle his daughter’s face, but…
Slap! An uppercut!
“Eh~~ Ahh~”
Leon didn’t know why Little Light always liked to give him uppercuts. He thought he didn’t teach her that during her prenatal education…
Rosvitha covered her mouth and chuckled softly. “Looks like our little daughter is naturally incompatible with you.”
“Tsk, she’s too small. She wants to punch everything she sees. You come here, you’ll get hit too,” Leon said.
“Little Light won’t hit me,” Rosvitha replied.
“Then you try,” Leon challenged.
“Sure, let’s try,” Rosvitha said, bending down and presenting her pretty cheek to Little Light.
Little Light raised her tiny fist, eager to try.
Leon’s eyes lit up. Yes, good girl, hit her!
“Wa wa~” Little Light babbled, pinching Rosvitha’s cheek with her short fingers.
Rosvitha gently rubbed Little Light’s palm against her cheek and then stood up straight, looking at Leon. “How about that? I told you, Little Light won’t hit me, she only hits you.”
“It’s impossible, it must be a coincidence,” Leon refused to believe otherwise, leaning towards Little Light once again. And, naturally, the result was another uppercut!
“Why?!” Leon felt like bringing up a daughter was quite a headache for the first time.
Rosvitha patted Leon’s shoulder. “Oh well, it’s okay, you’ll get used to it.”
“Are you saying Little Light won’t give me uppercuts in the future?” Leon asked.
“No, what I meant was, you’ll get used to it,” Rosvitha clarified.
“…Fine, go eat your barbecue, I can’t be bothered with you,” Leon grumbled.
Rosvitha smiled with narrowed eyes and was about to leave but then asked, “Aren’t you eating?”
“I just had a little, not very hungry,” Leon replied.
“Oh, okay,” Rosvitha said, not pressing further, and went to the grill to eat barbecue with her two daughters.
Meanwhile, Leon gently placed Little Light on the beach chair and squatted beside it, looking at Little Light with a serious expression.
“Good girl, let’s try again. This time you mustn’t hit daddy, okay? You have to give daddy a hug, understand?”
When a daughter becomes stubborn, not even eight dragons could pull her back. Leon said, and slowly approached Little Light again.
Little Light tilted her head, watching as her old father leaned closer bit by bit, making a whimpering sound and slowly extending her small hand.
Leon, seeing this, felt secretly delighted.
Finally, this time he could experience his daughter’s affection~~
“Pia!” ——
Gotcha!
“Wow wow~” Little Light clapped her hands, looking extremely excited.
After receiving the fourth uppercut of the day, Leon gave up. He lay down on the beach, feeling utterly defeated.
Noia, who heard the commotion, looked over and blinked, asking, “Daddy, why are you lying down?”
Rosvitha nibbled on the delicious barbecue, watching the miserable General Leon, and chuckled softly. “He’s probably just tired. He’ll be fine later. Let’s continue eating barbecue.”
