Chapter 81: Hey, I haven’t seen you in twenty years

At that moment, a burly servant passed silently through Nacho’s line of sight, carrying a tray, his head unusually low.

The sound of the servant’s footsteps interrupted Nacho’s thoughts. He turned to look at the tall servant’s retreating, his mind stirring slightly, and murmured, “Strange… I don’t recall seeing that person before.”

“My lord, the room is ready. Shall we go ahead and wait for them?” said another man respectfully as he approached Nacho.

“Scott, have you seen that black-haired servant before?” Nacho asked.

Scott was Nacho’s current deputy, handling some of his day-to-day affairs. When Nacho got promoted again, Scott would take his place.

Following Nacho’s gaze, Scott squinted and carefully examined the black-haired servant’s back. After a moment, he shook his head. “Never seen him before. Probably a new hire. Hisna Manor has strict standards for their servants and attendants. No need to worry, my lord.”

Nacho nodded and didn’t give it any more thought.

The two walked through the corridor toward the manor’s most luxurious dining room. After taking their seats, Nacho asked, “How much longer until Guinea and the others arrive?”

“About twenty more minutes,” Scott replied.

“Hmm. Go check the area again and make sure it’s all our people.”

“Yes, my lord.”

Nacho was a cautious man. Before every welcoming banquet, he would arrive at the manor early, arrange the personnel, and set up guards. He enjoyed the feeling of having everything under his control.

Twenty years ago, Nacho didn’t understand what power was. Leon Casmode’s disappearance had indirectly allowed him to taste the flavor of power. That sensation was like an addictive poison. Once it touched you, it was impossible to stop.

Nacho sat at the dining table, eyes half-closed, quietly waiting for the arrival of the Dagger Unit.

Creak—

The door opened.

Then came the sound of slow, heavy footsteps.

“Wasn’t there still half an hour left?” Nacho didn’t open his eyes, a slight trace of displeasure in his tone. He didn’t like Scott getting the time wrong, and he certainly didn’t like it when the three idiots of the Dagger Unit arrived early, messing up the schedule.

It gave him a sense of losing control over his power, something he found unsettling.

However, the person didn’t respond to Nacho’s questions. He only quietly closed the door behind him.

It was then that Nacho slowly opened his eyes. “I’m asking you a question, Scott, you—”

His words instantly stuck in his throat when he saw the black-haired man standing in the room.

The man was dressed in a servant’s uniform, holding a tray with a fork and knife on it. But Nacho knew that with this man’s skill, anything could be turned into a deadly weapon, let alone cutlery.

At that moment, Nacho felt like he was dreaming.

Or perhaps… seeing a ghost.

Fear exploded in Nacho’s heart. He wanted to call out, but the sheer pressure emanating from the man before him rendered him speechless.

It felt as if a stone had lodged in his throat. His hands began to tingle, the sensation spreading down to the soles of his feet.

Nacho’s eyes widened in shock, veins of blood creeping into the whites of his eyes.

Finally, Nacho managed to force out the man’s name:

“Leon… Casmode…”

His name was like the key that unlocked the invisible shackles on Nacho.

Saying it out loud felt oddly relieving.

Nacho’s heart raced, but he still tried to maintain his composure. Slowly lowering one arm under the table, he dug his fingernails into his hand, hoping the pain would help him stay calm.

Leon, noticing that Nacho still remembered him, didn’t seem particularly surprised. He stepped forward, pulled out a chair, and casually placed the tray with the knives and forks in front of him.

Leaning back in the chair, Leon lazily fixed his gaze on Nacho.

He said nothing, just watched.

Nacho didn’t dare meet Leon’s eyes. Swallowing hard, he wondered, Where are the sentries?

The patrols?

My attendants?!

How come no one has reported anything?!

At that moment, hurried footsteps sounded outside the dining room.

Scott burst in, panting, his voice panicked, “My lord! Our men have all been… taken out—L-Leon Casmode?!”

After a brief moment of shock, Scott reacted quickly, turning to run for help. But as soon as he ran around, he came face-to-face with two tall girls.

Their hands were casually in their pockets, and they nodded slightly, their expressions friendly.

Snap—

Leon snapped his fingers. “Why stand outside? Come in and have a seat.”

Noa took a step forward, faint flickers of electricity crackling around her body. Scott, seeing no other option, nervously backed into the room and sat down next to Nacho.

Leon stared coldly at Nacho, causing his unease to grow.

After a brief silence, Leon spoke in a low voice, “I know you’re probably very curious about how I’m still alive, but I don’t have time to explain that right now. What I need from you is simple: tell me where the Heartguard Dragon Scales that the Empire has collected are located.”

Leon’s tone was calm, but it carried an undeniable force, making Nacho’s fear reach its peak.

He opened his mouth, intending to stall for time until the Dagger Unit arrived. No matter how strong Leon might be now, he was nothing more than an ant before the Dagger Unit.

But then—

Nacho froze, staring at Leon’s face, surprised to find that the man looked the same as he had twenty years ago. There wasn’t the slightest sign of aging.

Could it be… he also had…

“Nacho, we’re old friends. No need to waste time here.”

Leon stood up and slowly walked behind Nacho and Scott.

Thud—

With both hands, he forcefully clapped down on their shoulders.

The heavy impact made Scott tremble all over. Nacho, however, sat completely still, staring straight ahead.

“Alright then, if that’s how you want to play it, I’ll just have to resort to stronger measures.”

“Leon, you—”

Thud!

With a swift chop to the neck, Nacho’s vision went black, and he lost consciousness instantly.

“My lord, are you—”

“Oh, I almost forgot about you.”

Another chop and Scott joined his lord, slumped over the dining table.

Leon slung the two men over his shoulders, one on each side.

Noa and Moon stepped into the room as well.

“The Dagger Unit is here. We should leave now.”

“Okay.”

The three of them quickly exited the dining room, circling the back door of Hisna Manor.

Aurora was already waiting with a prepared carriage. Once everyone was on board, she whipped the reins, and the carriage sped off into the night.
