Chapter 43: Thunder
Watching the two individuals fly away, Feng Yudie was so infuriated that she nearly ground her teeth to bits, completely forgetting the gaping hole on her left shoulder, oozing blood.
It was only when Xiao Tian emerged to offer a reminder that she took a deep breath, suppressing her anger.
“Yudie, you still have a hole in your shoulder,” Xiao Tian pointed out.
Feng Yudie hesitated for a moment, glanced at her left shoulder, and noticed the blood staining her skirt, finally seeing the piercing pain.
Looking towards Pei Lianxue, she contemplated for a moment, then suddenly sat down, emitting distressed sounds.
“Ouch! It hurts so much…”
“Ah?!”
Hearing Feng Yudie’s cries, Pei Lianxue hurriedly approached, knelt, tore open Feng Yudie’s sleeve, and examined the wound.
Seeing the large hole in her shoulder, Pei Lianxue quickly recalled the emergency treatment methods her senior brother had taught her. Under normal circumstances, elixirs would be the most effective, but she didn’t have any suitable for puncture wounds in her storage bag. Remembering her senior brother’s teachings, she decided to disinfect and bandage the wound.
Pei Lianxue quickly took out a jar of salt left over from the roasted deer, opened it and poured it into Feng Yudie’s shoulder wound.
“Hold on, it might sting a bit.”
“Ah?”
Feng Yudie thought the jar contained medicine and remained silent.
However, as the first grains of white-yellow particles touched her shoulder, the swamp echoed with screams reminiscent of a slaughtered pig.
“Ahhhhh——!!”
In no time, Feng Yudie rolled her eyes and fainted.
“Tsk~”
Pei Lianxue nodded in satisfaction. She tore a piece of cloth from her skirt, bandaged Feng Yudie, and left her there.
She then turned her attention to Xiao Yunluo, who was squatting near the bodies of “Second Brother” and “Third Brother,” muttering words of encouragement to herself. Her hands were busy exploring their storage bags.
Pei Lianxue was confused and approached, asking, “What’s wrong?”
“Ah!”
Xiao Yunluo was startled and quickly stood up. “I just want to find my sword. Those people just snatched it away.”
“Oh…” Pei Lianxue nodded. “Have you found it?”
“Ah… I…”
Xiao Yunluo looked embarrassed, lips pursed, and eyes avoiding contact.
In truth, it was her first time encountering such “fresh” corpses — she was scared!
But admitting she was too afraid to touch their storage bags would be too embarrassing. After all, she was the young lady of Xuanxing Sect — how could she be frightened by such a trivial matter?
After hesitating for a moment, she said with uncertainty, “I’m concerned about what traps might be set in the storage bags of these people, so I’m not very daring to touch them.”
“Oh.” Pei Lianxue nodded in understanding.
Worried that Pei Lianxue might think she was timid, Xiao Yunluo quickly added, “I’m not really afraid, just concerned about traps, and, you know, my elder warned me not to touch others’ storage bags randomly. There might be poisonous insects inside…”
“You can use your spiritual consciousness to take a look inside, you know?”
“Ah… yes…”
Xiao Yunluo smiled awkwardly, then gathered her courage, sending her consciousness into the “Second Brother’s” storage bag for a search. Meanwhile, Pei Lianxue inspected the contents of the “Third Brother’s” storage bag.
Unfortunately, apart from some pills and spiritual stones, there was nothing else inside. Not finding anything, Xiao Yunluo looked disappointed. After some thought, she asked, “Besides the two who escaped, aren’t there two more people? Could they be with them?”
“Let’s go back and check later,” Pei Lianxue nodded, pointing to Feng Yudie lying on the ground, “You stay with her. If anything happens, call me. I’ll explore the woods.”
“Ah… okay.”
After saying that, Pei Lianxue hurriedly ran into the nearby forest.
Just now, the senior brother had used an iron whistle to indicate the location of the formation eye, so he must be around here.
Feng Yudie being unconscious was not a problem, but if Xiao Yunluo saw her senior brother and developed feelings for him, she would have another enemy. So, deep in the woods, Pei Lianxue, making sure Xiao Yunluo didn’t follow, imitated bird calls loudly to call her senior brother.
Jiji~~jijijijijijiji
Unfortunately, after calling more than ten times with no response, Pei Lianxue, with a complaining expression, returned to the original location.
“Where is the Senior Brother? He was just here…”
At this moment, several auras of flying swords appeared in the distance. Wang Shouren and several inner disciples arrived, and Wang Shouren quickly took charge of the situation.
Seeing the two decapitated corpses and hearing the situation, Wang Shouren was bewildered. Lei Wanjun, one of the Xuanxing Sect’s five great elders, arrived as well. He glanced at the corpses, furrowed his brows, and asked angrily, “What happened?”
“A group of people sneaked into the back mountain and attacked the young lady and two disciples participating in the selection. There are still two people on the run, and we are sending people to pursue them,” Wang Shouren explained.
Lei Wanjun looked at Pei Lianxue and Feng Yudie, recognising them as the two disciples from the sword test. After some formalities, he gestured for them to explain.
Pei Lianxue, noticing Lei Wanjun’s status, saluted with an exaggerated greeting. Lei Wanjun, amused, patted her shoulder and used his divine power to clear the sky of thunderclouds, revealing his strength.
The conversation continued, and Lei Wanjun expressed disbelief that a group of foundation-building cultivators could sneak into the Xuanxing Sect unnoticed and escape.
Wang Shouren, though having scanned the back mountain with his spiritual consciousness, found it hard to believe. Lei Wanjun questioned if they could escape his divine detection.
“This is certainly impossible,” Wang Shouren admitted.
Afterwards, Lei Wanjun walked to the two corpses and examined them carefully.
“Two casual cultivators should be members of the Seven Killing Sect,” He said, looking at Feng Yudie and Pei Lianxue. “It seems that one of you two has a heavy bounty on your head.”
Feng Yudie looked confused, “Huh?”
“Did you mess with anyone?” Lei Wanjun inquired.
Feng Yudie answered uncertainly, “I don’t think so, right?”
Lei Wanjun sighed and waved his hand. “Forget it. This matter should not be spread. As for the Seven Killing Sect…”
After some consideration, he decided to downplay the issue. He planned to send an elder in a few days to apologise to Feng Yudie and Pei Lianxue and offer compensation with spiritual stones or other items. However, before he could finish, an inner disciple rushed back in a panic from a distance.
“Elder!”
“How can you behave so recklessly?” Lei Wanjun glanced at the disciple.
“Not… It’s about this!! The disciple found this map in one of the people’s storage bags…”
The disciple knelt and handed the “Xuanxing Sect Formation Map” left by Ye Anping in the “Fourth Brother’s” storage bag to Lei Wanjun.
Lei Wanjun took a look at the map, and his initially kind face turned stern in an instant.
Thunder roared in the sky.
“How dare the Seven Killing Sect do this!!!” Lei Wanjun exclaimed.
Wang Shouren, alarmed, walked up to take a look at the map in Lei Wanjun’s hand. After seeing it, he widened his eyes and sighed inwardly,
The Seven Killing Sect would do anything for money! To inquire about the location of the five great immortal sects’ sect formations, and worse, they actually succeeded.
The nine marked positions on the map were indeed the nine formation eyes of the sect’s formation. Once this map leaked, the Xuanxing Sect’s formation would be useless, and anyone could freely enter and exit the sect. Doing such a thing was similar to declaring war on Xuanxing Sect.
