Chapter 7: The Protagonist’s Emergency Food
Ye Anping readily identified the approaching Feng Yudie as the main protagonist of “Heavenly Sword” as soon as she initiated the conversation. Even at her first step into the hotel, he couldn’t help but notice her, particularly her silvery hair reminiscent of the Holy Emperor of the Immortal Family.
However, Ye Anping harbored a lingering question: What exactly was that golden figure floating near Feng Yudie’s head, resembling emergency food? In the game, there was no such element. Moreover, Pei Lianxue couldn’t perceive this peculiar presence. Otherwise, she would likely be curious enough to inquire about it from Feng Yudie.
Was he the only one able to see this oddity?
Ye Anping continued eating, but his thoughts delved into the game, recalling the items Feng Yudie carried during this phase. She should only possess a sacred artifact called the “Scroll of Heavenly Dao.”
In the game, the “Scroll of Heavenly Dao” was not discussed; it was mentioned only in the plot as an encyclopedic record of the millennia of events in the Zhouxing Heavenly realm.
Could the golden figure, like emergency food, be the “Scroll of Heavenly Dao”? It was indeed a peculiar little entity. But why was he able to see it?
Pei Lianxue, noticing Ye Anping was neglecting the vegetables in his meal, kindly picked up a piece of meat for him, suggesting, “Senior brother, eat some meat. You need energy for the upcoming battle.”
“Um,” Ye Anping responded absentmindedly, nodding.
However, Feng Yudie seized the opportunity when she heard Pei Lianxue’s words, expressing her willingness to assist in any forthcoming battle. She looked at Pei Lianxue’s face with a playful smile, claiming a sense of familiarity as if they had met before.
Pei Lianxue, perplexed, responded, “Fellow Daoist Feng, isn’t this the first time we’ve met?”
“We’re all fellow Daoists of the Immortal Family. Helping each other in times of need is only natural, right?” Feng Yudie grinned, diverting the conversation, “Besides, upon meeting you, I felt like I’ve encountered Fellow Daoist Pei somewhere before.”
“Huh? Have you seen me? Where?” Pei Lianxue inquired.
Feng Yudie playfully averted her gaze, suggesting, “Hmm—perhaps in a dream. Have you ever dreamt of someone like me?”
Pei Lianxue blinked in confusion and replied, “Probably not. Fellow Daoist Feng, your silver hair is unique.”
“I was born this way,” Feng Yudie laughed, flicking her ponytail onto her arm and extending it towards Pei Lianxue, “Would you like to touch it?”
At that moment, Ye Anping decisively struck his chopsticks on the bowl, paying no attention to Feng Yudie, and asked Pei Lianxue directly, “Junior sister, have you finished eating?”
Pei Lianxue hurriedly stuffed some braised pork into her mouth, nodding, “Yeah!”
“Then let’s go,” Ye Anping declared.
“Um!” Pei Lianxue agreed.
Ye Anping wiped his mouth, placed a small piece of silver on the table, bowed to Feng Yudie, and left the hotel with Pei Lianxue.
After walking out of the hotel, he glanced at Pei Lianxue, who was sharpening her knife behind him, and sighed suddenly. Judging from Pei Lianxue’s appearance, she hadn’t realized that Feng Yudie was now flirting with her.
Feng Yudie’s cheesy pickup lines were really too much, talking about dreams and all…
He had heard them countless times when he first played the game. However, being noticed by Feng Yudie indirectly indicated that his junior sister had become beautiful.
Ye Anping couldn’t help but take another look at Pei Lianxue’s face. Perhaps because he had watched her grow up, he acknowledged her beauty, but it wasn’t the kind that stirred his heart.
“Senior brother, what’s wrong? Are you staring at me?” Pei Lianxue asked.
“Nothing,” Ye Anping shook his head and changed the topic, “Do you remember what you have to do next? Repeat it.”
“Yeah, we hide in the woods. When the demon cultivator enters, you attract his attention, and then I ambush him,” Pei Lianxue recited.
“And after that?” Ye Anping inquired.
“After that, my senior brother used a formation to trap him and me together. He will release insect poison first, and I’ll pretend to be hit. I’ll stab him with my sword when he gets close!” Pei Lianxue explained.
Ye Anping nodded, asking, “Is it still missing something?”
“Huh?” Pei Lianxue furrowed her brows, staring at him seriously, “Did I forget something?”
“Oh!” Seeing her expression, Pei Lianxue suddenly realized, “I know, the finishing move! I won’t stop until I cut him into pieces.”
“Yes, don’t forget that. His vitality is strong. You need to cut him into pieces and set him on fire. Don’t hesitate to use the fire talismans. Throw all fifty I gave you this morning on him,” Ye Anping instructed.
“Yeah! No problem!” Pei Lianxue affirmed.
Ye Anping nodded, leading Pei Lianxue towards the woods behind Wuxi Town, reviewing the plan in his mind.
The current situation was within his expectations. The only uncertainty was the golden emergency food with Feng Yudie, but it did not affect the plan for now.
If the little golden man’s appearance allowed Feng Yudie to eliminate “Utopia” directly, it would make things easier for him and Pei Lianxue.
…
Watching Pei Lianxue follow Ye Anping without looking back, Feng Yudie was somewhat surprised. She had just started flirting, so why did they suddenly leave?
“Ah, miscalculated.”
“You miscalculated big time!” The little celestial being floating above her head couldn’t hold back and kicked her on the back of her head. “I’ve lived for so many years and have never seen a girl like you! Is this acceptable? Is this acceptable?”
“…”
“Seeing a slightly attractive girl and going to initiate a conversation…” The little celestial being gave her a disdainful look. “If you were a man, I wouldn’t even dare to think about it!”
Feng Yudie shrugged, indicating she didn’t want to engage in the conversation. When the waiter brought her ordered roast chicken, she immediately indulged in devouring it, leaving only the chicken bones.
After finishing lunch, she had planned to stroll around the town to see if she could encounter the girl named Pei Lianxue again. However, Xiao Tian kept pulling her hair, urging her to find a place to practice swordsmanship. (ED Note: Xiao Tian is the same character as mentioned above in the story as a golden figure and celestial being.)
Reluctantly, Feng Yudie ended up in a bamboo forest outside Wuxi Town. She picked up a spiritual sword and began dancing under Xiao Tian’s supervision. The air in the bamboo forest was filled with the constant sound of sword movements.
After a while, Feng Yudie inserted her sword into the ground, feeling tired. She sat down against the bamboo and looked at Xiao Tian, who had been supervising her. She asked, “How did I do?”
“Hmm, not bad,” replied Xiao Tian.
“Is that all?” She questioned.
Xiao Tian rolled his eyes and said, “Alright, to be honest, you’re truly impressive. You’ve been practicing the ‘Nine Heavens Sword Art’ for less than half a year, and you’ve already reached the ninth level.”
Feng Yudie chuckled and stretched lazily, saying, “Well, I am a peerless genius, after all.”
Adopting a serious tone, Xiao Tian warned, “Don’t get too proud. Your talents and aptitude are unmatched, and you’re quick-witted, but you’re still in the Qi refining stage. You might handle cultivators in the Foundation Building stage, but what about those in the Nascent Soul stage?”
“I’m not a fool,” Feng Yudie shrugged. “I can run, and why would Nascent Soul cultivators bother with a Qi refining cultivator like me?”
“What if you encounter a demonic cultivator?” Xiao Tian cautioned.
“This is the Immortal Family’s territory. Where would demonic cultivators come from?” she retorted.
Crack—
The sound of breaking branches came from behind. Feng Yudie immediately became alert, turning her head to see.
“Who?!” She exclaimed.
Xiao Tian, oblivious, only turned around when he heard Feng Yudie’s voice, following her gaze.
“Yudie, is anyone here?” The newcomer asked.
Feng Yudie paused, stood up, and pulled out her sword, ready for action.
“Relax, young friend. I just happened to pass by and heard the delightful sounds of sword dancing. I wanted to see who could dance a sword so well,” the person explained with a gender-neutral voice.
Feng Yudie stared into the person’s purple eyes for a moment, sensing a hidden malevolence. She quickly signaled Xiao Tian with her eyes.
Xiao Tian understood and flew to the person’s storage bag, peeking inside. Upon seeing the contents, Xiao Tian panicked and flew back, shouting, “Yudie, run! This person is a senior from the Gu Poison Sect!”
“What? Gu Poison Sect?” Feng Yudie exclaimed.
The person, hearing the words “Gu Poison Sect,” revealed their true aura. Evil spirit energy surged, corrupting the bamboo forest.
Feng Yudie was shocked and asked, “How do you know?”
“Oh? How did you see it?”
