The yellow-haired villain in Soaring Phoenix’s novels also desires happiness V1C32

Chapter  32: Not Loving Reading, Might Be Hereditary

Duke’s mansion, the library.

Standing at the entrance, Muen gazed at the rows of towering bookshelves filled with books, and couldn’t help but vigorously rub his face.

“To hell with this world.”

“Even a clay figure has its limits. If you keep tormenting me like this, I’ll fight you to the end!”

Muen lifted his head, and at this moment, the confusion, fear, and anger caused by his father’s departure and his plans falling apart had all vanished.

In their place, there was only determination.

What’s wrong with the yellow-haired villain? Does the yellow-haired villain not deserve happiness? I insist!

“Calm down, the first thing I need to do is become stronger.”

Muen looked at the abundant collection of books in front of him at the Duke’s mansion.

Although it was still a far cry from the St. Marika Library, for Muen at the moment, the collection here was more than sufficient.

“Now that Father has left, I’ll teach myself and then validate my progress through battles with assassins.”

“In other words, with the current resources of the Duke’s mansion, at the very least, I can become strong enough to defeat the assassin holding the black book record!”

“At that point, I’ll already have enough self-defense power!”

“I’ll continue to develop sneakily; I won’t go to school for the time being.”

“It’s good that Father and Mother are gone. At least no one will bother me in this regard.”

After revising his plan, Muen’s gaze became even more determined. He didn’t waste any more time; instead, he reached for a book from the nearest shelf and started flipping through it casually.

However, he wasn’t in a hurry to read it carefully; he simply flipped through a couple of pages before closing his eyes.

A few minutes later, he opened his eyes again, with an uncontrollable look of joy in them.

“Indeed, books can also be recorded.”

“It seems that only the words I have seen with my own eyes can be recorded.”

“But that’s enough. I can temporarily save time by not memorizing each book one by one. Instead, I’ll quickly scan through these books roughly and record them all in the black book.”

“That way, I can access them anytime I need!”

With this in mind, Muen no longer hesitated. He quickly began flipping through the book in his hand.

Without thinking too much, he aimed to imprint every word into his mind.

“Huh, wait a minute, what book am I even reading?”

After nearly finishing an entire book, Muen finally remembered an important detail and turned back to look at the cover of the book.

“‘Unlocking with Fishbones—100 Methods of Home Burglary?’… Seriously, what a scam!”

Realizing his mistake, Muen, with a hint of annoyance, slammed the book to the ground.

“Why does the esteemed Duke’s mansion have such books, and why are they placed in such conspicuous places?”

Unconvinced, Muen randomly picked out another book from the shelf.

“‘Techniques of Flirting Even Monkeys Can Master—Teaching You How to Gracefully Hook a Goddess?’… I just want to know how not to be trampled by a goddess!”

“Even fools could learn it in three days! —— Judging whether a woman is good for childbearing by measuring her hip circumference… This takes three days, but rural aunties can analyze it clearly in just three minutes.”

“The mating and breeding methods of **… Is this the book I should be reading?”

“The art of the bedroom… Ahem, I’m just checking if this book is legitimate, absolutely not intending to memorize it.”

“This is truly a freaking scam, half of the book is utterly useless, with some downright bizarre stuff.”

“After spending a whole half day organizing the entire Duke’s mansion library, Muen felt deeply hopeless about the lineage of Campbells, including his own dear old man, who surely had not a single penchant for reading!

Establishing this library was probably just for show, otherwise, they wouldn’t have stuffed all sorts of rubbish books in there!

There’s even a third of the books that are of the indescribable type!

“But luckily, at least half of the books are useful.” Muen looked at the book in his hand at that moment, revealing a pleased expression.”

Even if they didn’t have a fondness for reading, as an ancient family that had endured for hundreds of years, the Campbell family’s library was undoubtedly extremely rich, containing a vast number of books on martial arts, magic, and even matters of faith and divine favor.

And for Muen at this moment, these books were all extremely useful!

Take, for example, the book in his hand, “Introduction to Elementary Martial Arts.” For Muen, who urgently needed to rebuild his foundation, it was like a long-awaited rain after a drought!

“Whether I’ll study it or not can wait for later; for now, I need to record it first.” With excitement, Muen couldn’t wait to open the book.

But at that moment, he heard An’s voice behind him.

“Young Master, are you still reading?”

An walked into the library, his gaze briefly flickering over the cold meal at the side, his brow furrowing.

“You haven’t even eaten your meal properly.”

“Don’t worry, don’t worry, I’ll finish reading this book.”

“But you said the same thing just now.”

Suddenly, An stepped forward, forcefully closing the “Introduction to Elementary Martial Arts” in Muen’s hand.

“An, what are you doing?”

Muen smiled bitterly.

“I know my limits.”

“Young Master, dinner is ready.”

“Hmm, is it already this late? I didn’t even notice. Bring it over, just like lunch…”

“But Young Master, if I do that, you’ll forget to eat again.”

An stared into Muen’s eyes. “I promised the Master and Madam that I would take care of you, so I can’t allow you to behave like this, at least you should eat your dinner properly.”

“I…”

Muen looked at An crouching in front of him. She carried a pleasant floral scent that wafted into his nostrils, causing his brain to feel a bit heavy with the fatigue of a day spent organizing books.

He glanced at An’s face, which showed an unmistakable expression of determination, then at the book still waiting to be recorded in his hand. With a sigh, Muen said resignedly:

“Well, alright, I’ll go eat first.”

Although he had been busy organizing all day and hadn’t had time to make any records, the time wasn’t so urgent that he couldn’t even enjoy a proper dinner. It was all about balancing work and rest.

Muen stood up, returning the book to its place on the shelf before heading towards the dining room.

However, An didn’t immediately follow. She suddenly turned around, pulling out the book Muen had just put back.

“Introduction to Elementary Martial Arts…”

An scanned the words on the book.

Then she looked up at the shelves.

The books on the shelves had clearly been thoroughly organized, no longer chaotic like before.

“Some useless miscellaneous books were relegated to the innermost corners, while the precious volumes containing martial arts, magic, and various knowledge were deliberately placed within easy reach by Muen.”

“Young Master, you have indeed changed.”

Clang.

A cold light flashed.

An’s hand holding the “Introduction to Elementary Martial Arts” was suddenly severed into two pieces by a blade that appeared out of nowhere.

The book then turned into scattered pages, tossed into the wind outside the window by An.

“So swiftly, so suddenly, it’s as if overnight, you’ve ceased to be yourself.”

“Since that’s the case, there are some matters I can’t wait any longer for.”

“Don’t blame me, Young Master Muen.”
