Chapter 224: Yiyi drinks wine, two living treasures in the cell
Bangdang—— Bangdang——
The rough gears grated together, emitting an unsettling sound as if the elevator might collapse any second, sending the two of them plummeting down. It was pitch black inside the elevator, surrounded by rock walls with not a hand in sight.
Ye Anping could only estimate their descent through the weightlessness under his feet. When it was time to emerge, they couldn’t escape using the elevator. They would have to carve an opening in the mountain wall and brave the chaotic spiritual veins and snow outside. However, after losing sight, their other senses become more acute. Though he didn’t press his ear against Feng Yudie’s chest, he could hear her heart racing as if she were frightened.
Pausing, he furrowed his brow and asked, “You can speak now. What’s wrong?”
“It’s nothing, just…” Feng Yudie’s hand, intertwined with Ye Anping’s, tightened a bit more. “I’m a bit scared. It’s so dark, and we’re inside a cave…”
At her words, Ye Anping suddenly remembered what Xiao Tian had said about Master Taixu the night before he sent Feng Yudie to Yun Jiujiu. He sighed softly and said, “It’ll be bright soon.”
“Mm…”
Feng Yudie pursed her lips, closed her eyes, and listened intently to the gears grinding in the walls on both sides, silently counting.
Bangdang—— Bangdang——
Clang——
…
After counting to the 427th time, the grinding stopped. Feng Yudie slowly opened her eyes to find herself and Ye Anping in a vast stone chamber, illuminated only by a few torches in the corners. There were five identical platforms around them, their destinations unknown.
“Shh-”
At Ye Anping’s command, he held her close and stepped out of the stone chamber’s doorway onto a circular passage. Doors of various sizes lined both sides of the passage. After walking about a hundred feet, sticking to the right wall, they encountered a tall, slender man with a sword on his back at the end of the passage.
Seemingly preparing to use the elevator, the man approached them. Ye Anping glanced briefly but didn’t dare to probe with his senses. Seeing the hilt of the sword behind the tall man, he deduced he was likely a cultivator in the alchemy stage. Hastily, he stopped with Feng Yudie, moved to the side, and waited for the man to pass. When he did, Ye Anping nodded respectfully and greeted, “I’ve met the senior.”
“Hmm!”
The man nodded and walked past them, but just as Ye Anping was about to continue, the man suddenly turned around.
“Wait.”
“Senior, what is it?”
“Are you from He Longyu?” The man asked.
“Yes, I’m Ye Jun, and this is my Daoist companion. Senior, He asked us to stop the pursuers, and she got injured in the process,” Ye Anping explained.
The man raised an eyebrow in surprise and inquired, “Oh? How did you manage to escape?”
“We owe it to Senior Zhou’s sacrifice. With his help, we managed to escape from the attacker’s sword,” Ye Anping replied.
The man nodded in understanding, then glanced at Feng Yudie in Ye Anping’s arms. After a brief inspection of his spiritual sense, he couldn’t find any issues. He casually handed over a bottle of low-grade elixir, saying, “Take her to rest first. We still need more people to complete the formation. You’ll join us soon. He Longyu is already there. If you’re unsure what to do, he’ll guide you.”
“Understood,” Ye Anping replied, feeling relieved. He continued walking down the passage with Feng Yudie in his arms.
Meanwhile, in the lowest level of Snow Dragon Cave, Yunyi slowly regained consciousness. Feeling a sharp pain in the back of her head, she remembered being knocked unconscious by her husband’s killer. Anger surged within her at the thought of Ye Anping being killed. However, she quickly suppressed her emotions and calmly surveyed her surroundings.
“This is underground,” She murmured.
Suddenly, a voice startled her, causing her to jump. She tried to turn her head to look but found herself tied up and unable to move. As she struggled, she fell to the ground, feeling helpless.
Seeing her plight, Yun Jiujiu smirked and turned away, paying her no further attention. Yun Yiyi struggled for a while and finally rolled over, only to see another person in the stone room, their golden curly hair catching her attention.
She stared at Yun Jiujiu in silence for a while before asking, “Are you from the inner sect?”
The chains on Yun Jiujiu clinked as she turned to look at Yun Yiyi, incredulously asking, “Girl! Miss Hammer! I’m Yun Jiujiu!!”
“What?” Yun Yiyi exclaimed in surprise.
“What the hell? Damn it, Yun Yiyi, did you really not recognize me, or were you just pretending? Do you still have the guts to joke with me in this situation?” Yun Jiujiu retorted.
Yun Yiyi flattened her lips, then surveyed Yun Jiujiu from head to toe, saying, “I really didn’t recognize you. Why are you still wearing a skirt?”
“I… I… Why can’t I wear a skirt? Yun Yiyi!! I’m a girl, too…”
“Hammer girl!”
“Shut your mouth.”
Yun Jiujiu tried to stand up to confront her, but the chains on her body restrained her like a collar, preventing her from moving. After a pause, she shouted out of the room, “Who’s there? Get me out of these chains. I’m going to beat her!!”
Yun Yiyi, feeling exasperated, looked around and spotted a bench in the room. She approached it, hoping to find something to free herself from the quilt. However, apart from stones and the brazier, there was nothing else in the room.
After a moment of contemplation, Yun Yiyi sighed and said, “Help me get rid of this quilt. I can’t move.”
“Ha~ Didn’t you see the chains on my hands and feet? I’m risking my life to help you with a quilt. The person who tied you up was quite considerate, providing you with a quilt. I’m going to freeze to death,” Yun Jiujiu grumbled.
Yun Yiyi approached Yun Jiujiu, but in her attempt, she lost her balance and bumped her head against Yun Jiujiu’s chest.
“Ouch–” Yun Yiyi gasped in pain. “Your chest is harder than the fine iron in the sword pavilion.”
Yun Jiujiu glared at Yun Yiyi and quickly buried her head, biting a corner of the quilt wrapped around Yun Yiyi, shouting, “Get lost!!”
“What are you talking about? Help me get rid of this quilt,” Yun Yiyi insisted.
“I told you to get lost!! Do you understand?” Yun Jiujiu snapped.
“I can’t move,” Yun Yiyi protested.
“Use some strength! You’re weakling… I’ll hold onto it for you,” Yun Jiujiu snapped back.
“Stop, stop, stop… Hey, hey, hey, you’re biting my flesh!!” Yun Yiyi exclaimed.
“Disgusting–!”
