Chapter 225: Yiyi drinks wine, sisters talk coquettishly
The clattering sound of chains echoed for a while as Yun Yiyi struggled to free herself, finally managing to uncover the quilt draped over her. However, she was still restrained by fairy ropes used for binding late-stage foundation-building monsters, rendering her unable to move.
Meanwhile, Yun Jiujiu was even more tightly bound with fire iron chains around her arms, waist, and legs, preventing her from standing up fully like Yun Yiyi.
Yun Yiyi, with a flushed face and heavy breaths, leaned on Yun Jiujiu’s shoulder, her hair damp with sweat. Observing her state, Yun Jiujiu’s disgust was palpable.
“Softfoot Shrimp, are you even a foundation-building cultivator? Getting exhausted just from arranging a quilt, isn’t that embarrassing? Tsk, tsk, tsk…heh—”
Yun Yiyi grimaced. Her practised sword technique, the “Water Asking Technique,” emphasized finesse over brute strength. Being naturally slender and a woman, she lacked the physical strength of her male counterparts in the same realm.
She sneered, “You work out your arms every day, so why don’t you break these chains now and get us out?”
Yun Jiujiu shifted uncomfortably and retorted, “Look at how many chains are on me. One, two, three, four, five, six… Damn, these six chains could bind an alchemy stage cultivator effortlessly. How do you propose I break them?”
“What’s the use of your strength then?”
Yun Jiujiu blinked blankly for a moment, then turned away, muttering, “Can’t argue with you, go away, don’t bother me.”
“Sigh…”
Seeing this, Yun Yiyi sighed deeply, surveying the stone chamber once more, brainstorming escape plans while pondering who could be behind this. Sneaking into the mansions of Yishui Peak and Jianjiu Peak to kidnap her and Yun Jiujiu, Zhuang Yan’s motives remained a mystery.
Yun Yiyi couldn’t comprehend what Zhuang Yan aimed to achieve—killing twenty-seven internal disciples a few days ago and now kidnapping her and Yun Jiujiu.
?
Thinking of this, Yun Yiyi quickly looked around and asked, “Where’s Yun Xi? Is she tied up, too?”
“Ah!” Yun Jiujiu paused, furrowing her brows, “Right, why isn’t the Third Sister here? How come these people didn’t tie her up when they kidnapped us?”
“That’s stating the obvious, isn’t it?” Yun Yiyi replied, exasperated. “Most likely, they missed her and didn’t tie her up.”
“Then why were we tied up?” Yun Jiujiu asked.
“You’re asking me?” Yun Yiyi retorted.
“Hey, you don’t know, so stop with the attitude,” Yun Jiujiu shot back. “We need to figure out a way to get out of here.”
“Then what do you suggest?” Yun Yiyi asked.
“If Yun Xi wasn’t brought here, it means she managed to fend them off. After being attacked, she’d quickly realize they weren’t targeting just her and would bring people from Yishui Peak and Jianjiu Peak to investigate. She’s cleverer than you, you know,” Yun Yiyi explained.
“Oh,” Yun Jiujiu raised an eyebrow, nodding. “I agree. Besides, my brother Yu is probably searching for me with disciples from Jianjiu Peak. Isn’t that young master from the Hundred Lotus Sect also looking for you? Let’s just rest for now since there’s nothing else to do and conserve our energy.”
Listening to this, Yun Yiyi felt a pang of sadness for reasons she couldn’t quite understand.
Feng Yu was looking for Yun Jiujiu, but Ye Anping…
“Young Master Ye…”
“What happened to him? Is he dead?” Yun Jiujiu joked.
These words were thoughtless, but Yun Jiujiu said them out of habit, intending to tease Yun Yiyi. However, when she glanced at Yun Yiyi’s face, she saw a glint of tears in her eyes. Yun Yiyi bit her lip tightly, and the smirk vanished from Yun Jiujiu’s face instantly.
Even though she disliked Yun Yiyi, she knew better than to joke about the deceased. Yun Jiujiu awkwardly flattened her mouth and said, “Ah… Sorry, I didn’t think before I spoke. I didn’t realize he was really dead.”
“…”
Seeing Yun Yiyi’s continued solemn expression, she took a moment to think before quickly offering reassurance,
“Oh dear, it’s not uncommon for a Daoist companion to pass away after thousands of years on the path to immortality. What’s there to worry about? Over the years, many disciples from our Sword Sect have passed away, not just hundreds, but even thousands. Just last month, there was a disciple named Zhang from my sect who died. He was practising swordsmanship and accidentally struck himself on the back of his head with his sword, dying on the spot…”
Yun Yiyi’s teeth clenched tighter as she listened, glaring at her angrily,
“Could you stop using the word death? And how could you compare that disciple named Zhang with my Young Master Ye? If Feng Yu were to pass away, could you still be so calm?”
Yun Jiujiu pursed her lips and replied, “How could that be possible? He’s so skilled. If anyone were to die, it would be me before him!”
Yun Yiyi expressed her frustration at being unable to connect with her, sighing deeply and shaking her head before refocusing her thoughts on finding a way to escape.
Seeing her fall silent, Yun Jiujiu sighed and reconsidered her words, realizing they had been insensitive,
“Yun Yiyi, um, let me tell you something.”
“Okay.”
“I was actually planning to leave the Sword Sect once my father comes out of seclusion. But I’ll tell you now.”
Yun Yiyi was surprised and asked, “Leave the Sword Sect! Where are you planning to go?”
“I haven’t decided yet. I thought I’d open a restaurant or something with Brother Yu when the time came. You can be the Sect Leader, and I’ll be the restaurant owner. We won’t interfere with each other. How does that sound? Is it a good plan?”
Yun Yiyi frowned, finding the idea somewhat unreasonable.
“You’ve only known him for a short while. You could stay in the Sword Sect as a second lady, with people serving and respecting you. Are you really willing to give that up to live a wandering life with him?”
“Then would you crush me to death if I stayed in the Sword Sect?”
“Why would I do that when I have no reason to?” Yun Yiyi defended herself. “Now that we’ve secured the position of Sect Leader, the three of us— you, Yun Xi, and I— won’t need to compete for anything. You and Yun Xi can still be the second and third young ladies, and I’ll take care of both of you.”
“Ha, come on. It sounds good now, but who knows what you’re really thinking? Anyway, I’ve made up my mind. Once my father comes out of seclusion, you can help me persuade him. I’m leaving. Shouldn’t you be happy about that?”
…
