Chapter 96: Safe Place

The couple walked out of the Silver Dragon Sanctuary and spent some time playing with their daughters in the backyard. Afterward, they headed to the back mountain for a stroll.

Along the way, they encountered several Silver Dragon clan members who had been summoned back.

When they saw Leon, they excitedly called out, “Your Highness!” and warmly greeted him, much like fans meeting a celebrity.

After finally reaching a relatively quiet cherry blossom grove, Leon breathed a sigh of relief.

Phew, I had no idea my reputation among your Silver Dragon clan was so high. Who would’ve thought that just a few years ago, I nearly wiped them all out?”

“Please, don’t mention how you almost got backstabbed back then. If anything, you were the one almost wiped out.”

Rossweisse smiled and continued, “But your prestige among my people is undeniable. While the dragons may outwardly seem to admire violence and aggression, beneath that surface, it simply means they respect strength.”

She stood beside Leon, gazing at the distant Silver Dragon Sanctuary, and went on,

“In the Dragon Clan, as long as you’re capable, everyone will respect you.”

Leon nodded thoughtfully.

Thinking back, his reputation and standing in the Silver Dragon Clan truly started to build up after the battle of Constantine.

Before that, when the Silver Dragon clan members saw him, their reactions were always:

“Your Highness, greetings. Your Highness, you’ve worked hard.” (Without emotion)

But after the battle of Constantine, their reactions became:

“Your Highness, can I get your autograph? My kid has been watching you since they were little!”

Come on, ma’am, I’ve only been married to your Queen for three years, how could your kid have been watching me since childhood?

This change in attitude couldn’t be called fickleness.

The Silver Dragon clan had always maintained a basic level of respect and courtesy toward Leon.

But after the battle with Constantine, Leon’s strength and charisma elevated that respect to a whole new level.

“Of course, this also has a lot to do with you.”

Rossweisse said, “No wonder you were once the leader of the Dragon Slayer Army—there’s a certain leadership quality about you.”

The praise from his queen made the B-King* feel extremely proud.

Leon rubbed his nose, trying to hold back a smile, and said, “So when are you going to let me sit on that Silver Dragon Sanctuary throne of yours?”

The Queen was startled, lightly flicking his butt with her tail, “Keep dreaming. Compliment you a bit, and you forget your last name.”

She paused, then mysteriously added, “But… I do remember what we talked about last time regarding the throne. I plan to renovate it during the sanctuary’s reconstruction.”

“Last time? What did we talk about?”

Rossweisse shot him a look, “If you can’t remember, never mind. You’ll know when the time comes.”

“Oh.”

The couple continued their leisurely walk through the cherry blossom grove.

Leon had brought his camera before leaving, as it was just the right time in April when the cherry blossoms were in full bloom.

A beautiful woman paired with a stunning scene—one didn’t need to be a professional photographer to produce pictures worthy of a photo album.

Especially when the woman was so stunning that she didn’t need to pose; just standing there was already a perfect composition.

So this story tells us how important it is to marry someone like Roseweisse.

At least when traveling and taking photos, she would never get frustrated over your clumsy photography, as her beauty could carry any shot.

After taking a few more pictures, Rossweisse that Leon wasn’t checking the camera’s preview, so she asked, “Aren’t you going to see how the photos turned out?”

Leon shrugged, “It’d be a waste of time.”

“Waste of time?”

“Yeah. You always look great no matter what, so I don’t need to pick which shot looks best.”

Roseweisse chuckled, unsure whether he was flattering her or if he didn’t have the patience to go through the pictures.

But she didn’t say much more; the two continued their walk, stopping occasionally to take pictures.

Eventually, they stopped to rest by a small river.

“You said in a future without me, you ended up in a deep coma due to overexertion of your power?”

After Leon had told Roseweisses about  the six months without her, she became quite curious about the future and would occasionally ask him about it.

Leon nodded, “Yes.”

“So, during those six months, you didn’t have anyone to bicker with?”

Roseweisses smiled, “You must have been quite lonely.”

“Of course I was. I dreamt of arguing with you every night.”

“Oh, I get it.”

Leon blinked, “You get it? What do you get?”

“I was in your dreams.”

“You sure know how to sweet-talk yourself, don’t you, dragons?” Leon teased.

But after thinking over her words, Leon’s smile faded.

Without Roseweisses, it wasn’t just about not having anyone to argue with.

He remembered how, in the final days before reversing the magic, he felt utterly lost.

During those times, he had thought countless times how much better it would’ve been if Roseweisses had been there.

Because she was always so understanding, so good at comforting people, always able to find the knot in his heart and slowly untangle it.

Sometimes, you don’t realize the importance of certain people or things until they’re gone or separated.

In those next six months, Leon learned many lessons.

One of them was, without a doubt, to treasure the people in front of you.

He glanced sideways at Roseweisses, who was still looking ahead, smiling. Her dimples were playful and cute as if she was thinking of some new way to tease Leon.

Leon withdrew his gaze and fiddled with the camera for a long time. Suddenly, he seemed to think of something and asked,

“By the way, in the future, Xiaoguang mentioned that your dragon clan has some kind of safeguard called a Heartgard Dragon Scale. Is that true?”

  • B-King (B王): A slang term for someone who behaves in an over-the-top, exaggerated way to show off. It’s short for “装B王,” meaning “King of Pretending.”
