Chapter 204: Protagonist, do you want a date in the pine forest?
The snow from the past few days had turned into ice at the Sword Wine Peak martial arts field, making the ground extremely slippery. However, this didn’t deter the disciples from practising swordsmanship.
In a corner of the martial arts field, swords clashing echoed continuously. A slender scholar wielded his delicate spiritual sword against a burly man wielding a heavy 100-kilogram sword.
Although it seemed predictable, after several clashes, the scholar remained composed, not a drop of sweat on him. However, his opponent was visibly out of breath and struggling to wield his sword. Feng Yudie smirked, stepped forward, and made a horizontal slash with her sword.
With a swift motion, the sword emitted a powerful force, causing a commotion. Yet, just before it reached the big man’s neck, it stopped abruptly and steadily.
“Hehe~” Feng Yudie smiled proudly, sheathed her sword, and raised an eyebrow. “I concede!”
The big man took a while to calm down before standing up slowly and bowing respectfully. “Fellow Daoist Feng is indeed formidable. Yesterday, I heard Mr. Feng block a sword from a late-stage core-formation cultivator for Sister Jiujiu. I thought it was exaggerated, but now I see it’s true.”
Feng Yudie tossed her spiritual sword into the air and skillfully sheathed it with her left hand. After showing off, she wiped her nose and said sheepishly, “Oh well, it’s nothing special! It’s just a late-stage core formation cultivator. I’ve even fought with Nascent Soul cultivators before.”
“Nascent Soul cultivator!” The big man was astonished. “May I ask which senior you fought with?”
“Master Li Xian from Chilong Mansion! I fought with him and won.”
The big man was even more surprised and shook his head in disbelief. “Master Li is one of the Twelve Swords of the Immortal family. That’s impossible. He must have gone easy on you.”
“Hehe~ Believe it or not.”
Feng Yudie waved her hand, glanced at the sky, and realized it was probably time for the roast chicken she had asked the servants at Yunjiu House to prepare. She turned to leave.
“I’m going back to eat roast chicken. See you later!”
“Ah… Well, Fellow Daoist Feng, take care.”
Feng Yudie put her spiritual sword back into her storage bag and headed towards the exit of the martial arts field. However, just as she was about to reach the exit, she was stopped by a man.
“Fellow Daoist Feng, please hold on,” Said the man.
The man was dressed as a disciple from Sword Wine Peak, but unlike the others, he appeared leaner in physique, lacking the distinctive boldness typically seen among Sword Wine Peak disciples. He seemed more like an outsider donning the attire of a Sword Wine Peak disciple.
Feng Yudie gave him a quick once-over, a bit puzzled, but didn’t dwell on it too much, assuming he was there to spar with her. After all, during her daily sword practice, disciples from Sword Wine Peak often came to challenge her.
Feng Yudie waved her hand and said, “I’m not sparring right now. If you want to challenge me, return tomorrow and wait in line. I come here every morning for sword practice.”
“No… I’m here to deliver a message for a junior sister,” The man replied.
Feng Yudie’s head tilted slightly. “Junior sister! Which one?”
“Um… Junior Sister Su. If Fellow Daoist Feng is relatively quiet, could you visit the pine forest behind the alchemy room at Sword Wine Peak? Junior Sister Su is waiting for you there.”
“The pine forest! What for? Is this some kind of prank?” Feng Yudie’s eyes narrowed with suspicion. After a moment’s consideration, she waved her hand again and said, “Tell her if it’s important, she can come to Yun Restaurant to find me. I’m heading back to eat roast chicken.”
“Ah…” The disciple was shocked. Seeing Feng Yudie about to leave, he hurriedly caught up and pleaded, “Fellow Daoist Feng, please just go. It won’t hurt to meet her.”
“So, what’s the matter?” Feng Yudie asked.
“It’s a good thing,” The man replied hesitantly.
“What kind of good thing? Does it involve roast chicken?” Feng Yudie quipped.
The man was momentarily speechless, then finally said, “Fellow Daoist Feng, let me explain. Junior Sister Su has been admiring your swordsmanship in the martial arts field recently. She finds you very graceful and handsome, and she’s been wanting to talk to you.”
“Why not have her bring a plate of roast chicken along? I’m easy to talk to. I’ll chat with her for half an hour over roast chicken,” Feng Yudie suggested.
The man was exasperated, his face twitching, but he sighed and said, “Fellow Daoist Feng, I owe you a favour, alright! If you go, I’ll buy you twenty roast chickens.”
Feng Yudie grinned at his offer and patted his shoulder. “Hey, that’s what I’ve been waiting to hear. Deal! Let’s go, where is she?”
“The pine forest behind the alchemy room,” He replied.
“And where’s the alchemy room?” Feng Yudie inquired.
Feeling exhausted, the man rubbed his forehead and said, “I’ll take you there…”
Following the man, Feng Yudie walked the path outside the martial arts field, winding around for about a quarter of an hour, and finally arrived at a ten-story pavilion.
On both sides of the pavilion were separate small courtyards, where disciples from Sword Wine Peak came and went occasionally. Behind the pavilion was a pine forest covering about five acres.
At this moment, the pine trees in the forest and the ground were covered with white snow, resembling a field of white flowers.
The man stopped and gestured, “It’s right here, Fellow Daoist Feng. Walk about five hundred feet inward, and you’ll find a pavilion where Junior Sister Su awaits you.”
Feng Yudie listened and tiptoed to glance into the forest. Due to the scattered pine trees, she couldn’t see the pavilion from her current position.
“Aren’t you going in?” The man asked.
“Junior Sister Su wants to talk to you. I don’t want to look out of place there,” The man said awkwardly, bowing his hands. Then he turned and walked away, saying, “Fellow Daoist Feng, I will help you buy roast chicken. Let’s chat with Junior Sister Su first.”
“Oh…” Feng Yudie watched the man leave, her brow slightly furrowed and squinting as she looked into the pine forest.
She couldn’t figure out what was happening, but it would be very convenient if there were an ambush in this pine forest.
The land was rich in spiritual energy, and many animals were in the pine forest. Even if she used her spiritual sense to scan, finding the cultivators hiding inside would be challenging.
After hesitating, Feng Yudie whispered, “Xiao Tian…”
“What?” Xiao Tian’s voice sounded from Feng Yudie’s forehead. It leaned out half of its body and looked into the pine forest, frowning, “Four are in the middle stage of foundation building, and one is in the early stage. Is someone ambushing you?”
“Sure enough, there is an ambush… I’m just telling you if you call me into the woods if you have nothing to do, you just want to tease me.”
“…Tell you to go into the woods!”
“Yes, someone just said that Junior Sister Su is here waiting for me and wants to talk to me. I was shocked at the time. Why didn’t she come to me directly if she wanted to talk? She also asked me to go to the woods. This ambush was. It’s so obvious.”
Listening to this, Xiao Tian had mixed feelings.
Logically speaking, when ordinary people heard this, most would think about whether a junior sister wanted to confess to them.
However, Yu Die immediately thought This was most likely an ambush.
She couldn’t figure out what was happening, but it would be very convenient if there were an ambush in this pine forest.
She pondered for a moment, then asked, “Xiao Tian, fly in and look at those five people’s storage bags. Are there many spiritual stones in them?”
“Are there many?”
“Yes, if you don’t eat the meat that comes to your mouth, you won’t eat it for free.”
Xiao Tian rolled its eyes at her, thought about it for a while, and then flew into the pine forest to explore.
After a while, it flew back and said seriously,
“I looked around. Regardless of the four cultivators in the middle stage of foundation building, the girl in the early stage of foundation building should be a hostage. They seem to want to use that girl to attract your attention and sneak attack on you. Please be careful.”
“Huh! Hostage!”
“Hmm… That girl has five or six low-level thunder talismans affixed to her clothes. Now she is standing in the pavilion muttering, ‘Who will save me…’ or something like that. Please be careful.”
Feng Yudie held her chin and thought for a while, then nodded and said,
“Well… OK, I get it.”
