The Cannon Fodder Turns His Sister Into A Soaring Phoenix C245

Chapter 245: Yiyi, feeling in danger!

Outside the window, the birdsong was clear and musical, while inside, there was silence. In a room at Yunjiu Mansion, a roasted chicken was placed on a low table, and Ye Anping sat opposite Feng Yudie. They had been sitting in silence for some time now, with Ye Anping unable to comprehend why Feng Yudie was suddenly upset. She sat across from him with her arms crossed, occasionally glancing at him but quickly turning away with a Huh~ sound.

Even the roasted chicken that the maid had brought moments ago remained untouched by her. Ye Anping couldn’t understand the reason for her anger, even though they had been getting along as usual. It puzzled him why she was upset now when she hadn’t been before.

“Hey,” He sighed softly, breaking the silence, “What’s wrong with you?”

“You, jerk, don’t speak! I don’t want to hear it!” Feng Yudie retorted sharply.

Ye Anping was perplexed and continued, “We need to address any issues that arise. If something is bothering you, you should speak up…”

Thud—

Feng Yudie frowned, slamming the jade chicken-killing knife Yunjiu had just brought onto the table as if warning Ye Anping that if he spoke again, she would strike him.

“Hmph!”

“…”

Ye Anping felt helpless. It seemed he had truly irritated her somehow. Reflecting on the recent days, he couldn’t pinpoint anything amiss in their interactions. If this were any other time, he wouldn’t bother, knowing that tempers usually cooled with time. However, with the Sword Sect incident nearing its conclusion, there was no room for error.

He decided to try to appease her. Ye Anping pushed the roasted chicken towards her, sincerely apologizing, “I apologize for whatever I’ve done to upset you. Please, have some roasted chicken.”

Upon seeing the bags of spiritual stones, Feng Yudie’s anger dissipated, replaced by a look of uncertainty. She reached out to take the bags, but Ye Anping stopped her.

“Wait,” He said, “No matter what I’ve done, taking these stones settles it. Let’s not be angry anymore, and let’s ensure there are no more misunderstandings in the future.”

Feng Yudie hesitated before accepting the bags. As she grabbed them, Ye Anping reached out to hold her hand.

“Whatever,” She said reluctantly.

Ye Anping released her hand, sighing. He reached for a piece of roast chicken, but Feng Yudie quickly claimed it as her own.

“It’s mine!” She declared.

“Fine, it’s yours,” Ye Anping conceded.

Feng Yudie smiled, then offered him the chicken butt. “Here, you can have this.”

“I don’t eat chicken butts,” Ye Anping replied.

“Then don’t eat it. But if you don’t, I’ll take everything else,” she teased.

“Alright, it’s yours,” Ye Anping replied.

He sighed again, opting to drink tea instead. He watched silently as Feng Yudie devoured the chicken leg.

“Take your time. No one’s going to snatch it from you,” He remarked.

Ignoring him, Feng Yudie choked on a bone. Ye Anping quickly handed her a cup of tea.

“Here… thanks,” She managed between coughs.

Ye Anping withdrew, feeling awkward. He had only wanted a taste, as cultivators in the foundation-building stage did not need food. Eating was merely for enjoyment. Meanwhile, in the next room, Yun Yiyi and Yun Jiujiu sat on opposite sides of a table. Yun Jiujiu’s intense gaze made Yun Yiyi uncomfortable. They had been friends for decades, but now she didn’t know what to say.

Yun Yiyi had come to visit Yun Jiujiu’s injuries and discuss Zhuang Yan and Yun Kunwu’s situation. Zhuang Yan had not faced justice yet, and the Sword Sect disciples were still on trial. The elders had searched for Zhuang Yan, but as a Nascent Soul cultivator, he needed help finding him.

All the leads in the case had gone cold, leaving Yun Yiyi waiting anxiously for the next development.

The third matter was to talk to Yun Jiujiu about the identity of Feng Yu. That night, the display of spring spirit by Feng Yu could indicate his innocence, with no evil intentions. But it also suggested that he was more than just a casual cultivator.

His timing of arrival was remarkably coincidental. Whether earlier or later, it would have led to different outcomes. Yun Yiyi faintly felt the presence of a third-party force, not affiliated with the Sword Sect or Zhuang Yan, exerting influence in the Moon Shadow Sword Sect, subtly manipulating events.

While Yun Yiyi was organizing her thoughts, Yun Jiujiu suddenly raised her eyebrows, tapped the table, and said, “What are you here for? You had something to say to me, didn’t you? Sitting here silently for ages, what’s the deal? Playing statues with me!”

Yun Yiyi slightly pursed her lips in embarrassment, then took out a bottle of excellent healing elixir from her bag and offered it to her with spiritual power, saying, “How are your injuries?”

Staring at the elixir for a moment, Yun Jiujiu narrowed her eyes warily and asked, “Did you poison this?”

“No…”

“Oh, you poisoned it. Of course, you’d say no. Do you think I’m stupid? Why would I dare to accept something from you?”

“Second sister…” Yun Yiyi sighed heavily, then solemnly said, “I genuinely came to check on you. If it weren’t for you that night, I might have been turned into a sinister elixir by Zhuang Yan. I’m here to thank you.”

“Oh, you’re welcome. Are you done? If you’re done, go back.”

“Do you really not welcome me that much?”

Yun Jiujiu raised her finger, pointed to her face, widened her eyes, and asked, “Look at my face. Does it look like I’m welcoming you?”

“Not really.”

“Then why stay? Go back by yourself. I still have to eat roast chicken with Brother Yu.”

“There’s another thing,” Yun Yiyi frowned, “It’s about Yun Kunwu. Zhuang Yan said his soul was imprisoned by his father in the Qianjian Pond of the Sword Sect.”

“Then tell him after Dad comes out of seclusion. Anyway, by then, I’ll have left with Brother Yu. Who cares about the mess in the Sword Sect? If you want to be the sect leader, it’s your business.”

“Second sister, I think this matter isn’t over yet. Even if you want to leave, you won’t be able to. And unless Zhuang Yan dies, you won’t be safe no matter where you go.”

After a moment of silence, Yun Jiujiu thought it made sense. After pondering for a while, she asked, “So, should we go to Qianjian Pond and destroy Yun Kunwu directly?”

“Go to Qianjian Pond!”

“Yes, why not? If he’s imprisoned there by our dad, let’s destroy his soul first. Since Zhuang Yan wants to release him, let’s act first.”

Yun Yiyi thought for a moment and asked, “But there’s a restriction in the forbidden area of the Sword Sect. Can we enter?”

Yun Jiujiu shrugged indifferently, saying, “Just break the restriction. Let’s ask Elder Zhongfeng to attack together, make a hole, and then find one or two elders to follow us in!”

“Isn’t that risky?”

“What’s risky about it? I heard from Elder Tianxing a few days ago that Yun Kunwu was secretly brought back by Dad and imprisoned. Anyway, let’s chop him down first. When Dad comes out of seclusion, he’ll figure it out… We can’t let Dad punish us for chopping down that evil guy… We have to accept it.”

“In other words… Act first, explain later!”

“Yes!” Yun Jiujiu nodded, “Dad usually doesn’t care anyway. At worst, I’ll take the blame. Anyway, I won’t stay in the Sword Sect anymore.”

Yun Yiyi pondered, “Then I’ll go talk to Yun Xi later.”

“Well, call that… Pei Lianxue, too.”

“What for?”

“Just call her. Didn’t she get our grandfather’s inheritance before? Now, Elder Zhongfeng is trying to get close to her every day… Hey—”

“What? Our grandfather’s inheritance!”

“Yeah, our grandfather’s sword is in her hands.”

“… … ”

Yun Yiyi had never heard of this matter before. No one told her about it after she woke up. But when she heard Yun Jiujiu talking about it, she couldn’t help but frown, her eyes filled with disbelief, and a sense of crisis arose.

Pei Lianxue was Ye Anping’s junior sister, childhood sweetheart, and possibly someone he cared about. Her engagement with Ye Anping was solely because of the Sword Sect and the Hundred Lotus Sect.

In other words, now that Pei Lianxue had obtained Yunjian Shangxian’s inheritance, her engagement with Ye Anping didn’t seem so important anymore.

Ye Anping probably has yet to learn about this. If he did, he would definitely leave her and go back to find his junior sister.

Yun Jiujiu saw Yun Yiyi’s expression change suddenly, raised her eyebrows, patted the table, and said, “What are you doing? Didn’t you have something to say to me? Sitting here without speaking, what’s going on? Playing with me!”

Yun Yiyi clenched her fists and asked, “Can you keep the matter of Pei Lianxue getting the inheritance a secret from Young Master Ye first?”

“Ah!”

“That’s it… Leave him here in your Yunjiu Mansion, and don’t let him know about it for now, okay?”

“Then what about you?”

“I’m going to Xiri Peak.”

“Well, call the one named Pei Lianxue.”

“What did you ask her to do?”

“Call her, didn’t she get our grandfather’s inheritance? Now, Elder Zhongfeng is trying to get close to her every day… Hey—”

“What? Our grandfather’s inheritance?”

“Yes, our grandfather’s sword is in her hands.”

“…”

“Miss Yun Er, Mr. Feng is just a little surprised. In reality, she’s quite happy. She even asked me about it just now. But deciding to get married isn’t something that happens overnight. How about giving her some time to think about it?”

Feng Yudie twisted her eyebrows and glanced at Ye Anping, feeling somewhat dissatisfied. She didn’t want to deceive Yun Jiujiu.

No! Absolutely not! She made a firm decision! She was devoted to Junior Sister Pei!

Yun Jiujiu listened to Ye Anping’s words, then looked back at Feng Yudie and asked, “Brother Yu, is he portraying it accurately?”

“Mm-hmm…” Feng Yudie hesitated for a moment, then nodded in agreement. Only then did Yun Jiujiu’s worried expression turn into a smile again as she released Feng Yudie’s shoulders.

Ye Anping sighed softly, casting a glance at Feng Yudie. Seeing her bewildered expression, he ignored her and turned to look at the door of the guest room.

Not seeing Yun Yiyi, he was a bit confused and asked, “Second young lady, where is the eldest lady?”

“She asked me to keep it a secret from you. Anyway, I have to keep you here until she comes back,” Yun Jiujiu nodded solemnly and said, “Behave yourself, or else I’ll have to tie you up with a rope.”

Ye Anping was perplexed and asked with narrowed eyes, “What’s the secret?”

“It’s a secret!” Yun Jiujiu waved her hand, then pulled Feng Yudie’s sleeve and walked out, saying, “Brother Yu, let’s go have a drink! And Young Master Ye, you can come along if you want, but don’t sneak out of Yunjiu Mansion.”

Watching the two of them walk away, Ye Anping felt puzzled.

Yun Yiyi went to Xiri Peak without informing him…

What was at Xiri Peak?

Yun Xi and junior sister…

Seeing Yun Xi wouldn’t require secrecy, leaving only the possibility of…

Ye Anping furrowed his brows, but after a moment of thought, he felt there shouldn’t be a major issue, so he simply stepped forward and followed the two ahead.

“Well, junior sister can handle it…”
