Shut up, malevolent dragon! I don’t want to have any more children with you V2C80 Part 2

Chapter 80: The Melkwe family’s ancestral one versus three ( Part 2 )

Noya then provided Nacho’s route and schedule, allowing Leon to plan more specifically.
Once they had settled everyone’s roles in the operation, the conversation drifted back to the Dagger Unit.
“Although they are nominally part of the Dragon Slayer Army, they’re not bound by the Army’s orders. They take their orders directly from the royal family,” Noya said.
“Fifteen years ago, the Dagger Unit suddenly appeared and began a series of victories on the dragon-human battlefield, using power strong enough to rival the ancient Dragon Kings.”
Aurora added, “Aunt Isha was forced to relocate the clan to the dragon heartland a few years ago because of the pressure from these three. It’s safer there, but it’s just a temporary solution. If things continue at this pace, in less than ten years, the Empire will break into the dragon’s heartland.”
“By then, there will be nowhere to hide.”
Leon began to think.
The Dagger Unit only became active on the battlefield five years after my disappearance. And I have never heard of these three during my service time.
Could they have been secretly trained by the Empire?
Unlikely.
If they are secret weapons of the Empire, why don’t they show up when I caused havoc in the Empire, cleared out traitors, or fought Stah?
So, most likely, these three either grew strong during the five years after my disappearance—or obtained such power through some other means.
“You mentioned earlier that the Dagger Unit’s power doesn’t feel like it belongs to them?” Leon asked.
“Mm. Normally, when we use magic, the process can be understood as ‘gathering power and then releasing it.’”
Noa said, “But with them, it feels like they’re ‘borrowing power from somewhere else and then releasing it.’ And the fact that they lose control of their power sometimes—that’s not normal.”
“Didn’t your informant dig into their background?”
Noa shook her head, “No. The Dagger Unit did appear out of nowhere, without giving anyone time to react.”
Aurora’s expression grew serious, “They’re very strong. As the surviving dragons have said, they’re as powerful as the ancient Dragon Kings.”
Moon sat quietly to the side, her long legs curled up, arms wrapped around her knees. Faced with the solemn atmosphere of the discussion, she didn’t dare speak, only listening quietly.
But she knew full well the Dagger Unit’s strength.
If they were to fight those three in the end, she wasn’t sure if they could win.
“Dad.” Aurora broke the slightly oppressive silence.
“Mm?”
“I just saw you zoning out. Were you thinking about something?”
“Ah… I was just reminded of something from the past. Quite amusing.” Leon sat cross-legged on the ground, lowering his head. As he spoke, he even chuckled softly.
Noa blinked, “What’s so funny?”
“You.”
“Me?”
Leon looked up at his eldest daughter. “The Dagger Unit is made up of three people, right? It reminds me of how you used to take on three people by yourself back when you were at Saint Heiss Academy.”
Upon hearing this, the pink-haired troublemaker’s mood instantly lifted. “What? Big sis fought three people at once? I’ve never heard of this! Tell me more!”
Leon vividly recounted Noa’s glorious achievements from back in the day to his youngest daughter.
After hearing it, Aurora repeatedly patted her big sister on the shoulder. “No wonder you’re the eldest of the Melcweiss family!”
Noa, slightly blushing from the praise, turned her head away. That proud expression was just like her mother’s. “Don’t exaggerate. It was just some anti-bullying.”
“That’s why I think there’s nothing to fear from the Dagger Unit. If necessary, your dad will show you what real one-versus-three looks like, passed down through the generations.”
Noa froze for a second. Whoa, why’s the old man so cocky all of a sudden?
Oh~~~
Got it.
This must be what Mom meant by “once he’s charged up, he’s unstoppable.”
But his arrogance was well-founded.
As his daughter, Noa had never doubted her father’s strength.

The setting sun spilled over the green lawns of Hisna Manor like molten gold. The busy servants bustled back and forth in the yard, making final preparations for the upcoming banquet.

Nacho stood in the corridor, watching the scene unfold, idly playing with a silver coin in his hand.

The coin bore the insignia of the Empire’s Dragon Slayer Army—a pair of dragon wings with two crossed longswords forming an “X” in the middle.

In the imperial family, coins of different materials represented various levels of status and the corresponding powers one held.

From the lowest to the highest, they were copper coins, silver coins, gold coins, and finally, the Unicorn Crystal, symbolizing those who held power just below the emperor.

It had taken Nacho almost twenty years to turn the copper coin in his hand into today’s silver coin.

Although on the surface, it seemed neither high nor low, this was already a level of success that most could never reach in their lifetimes.

To climb any higher meant stepping into the most chaotic vortex of the Empire’s power structure, where those who held gold coins were all cunning politicians and ministers.

Nacho knew he wasn’t at that level yet. Guarding his little patch of land and keeping his head attached to his shoulders was the greatest success he could hope for.

As Nacho reflected on how far he had come, the person he most wanted to thank wasn’t the “great one” who had promoted him up, but rather a “ghost”—a ghost that had disappeared twenty years ago.

Twenty years ago, Nacho had personally witnessed that unprecedentedly fierce battle, truly experiencing the dragons’ fanatical obsession with revenge.

The man named Leon Casmod was unbelievably strong. If Raville hadn’t perished alongside him in the end, the peaceful life in the Empire now would never have been possible.

Nacho wouldn’t have received his title and promotion afterward either.

Back then, Leon had been a prize in the eyes of the high-ranking nobles of the royal family. Anything related to Leon was an opportunity for achievement, and success was almost guaranteed to lead to promotion and wealth.

So, Nacho was very grateful to that guy. Without him, there was no way he could’ve climbed to his current height.

Of course—

Nacho glanced at the silver coin in his hand, a slight smile curling at the corners of his mouth.

He could only offer his thanks in his heart to that monstrously strong man, who didn’t seem to belong to this dimension. Any chance to thank him face-to-face was long gone.
